  1. *sigh* he looked like his dad there.

  2. After Hart hit the fastball for a double, Trevor threw 8 changeups in a row.

  3. 11 hits and 3 runs, we have only ourselves to blame for even needing Hoffman.

  4. do you think Yost was counting on splintering Trevor’s focus a bit?

  5. 251: Yeah, that was a nice piece of hitting…

249 Where is TGwynn calling the game?

  6. XTRA inninig thank god. Trevor really knows when to blow saves.

  7. how does dad feel about that one?

  8. 255: I thought the pitch to TGjr was a good one, not so sure about the earlier pitch that resulted in the double…

  9. Meredith in. Our remaining bully would be:

Cameron, Cassel, Germano, Maddux, Thatcher, Ledezma, Tomko and Peavy.

  10. I say let’s score a run in the top of the 11th and get Peavy his first career save.

  11. Will someone please tell KT that CLOSER is on our list of off-season needs.

6 BS’s this year… i know Trevor is loved, but come on now.

  12. 262 – I was actually thinking that, since Bud doesn’t plan on using him tomorrow. Not sure that’s a good idea though, in case we need him Monday.

Hopefully Bud has the stones to make the decision himself and not ASK Peavy, because we all know what the answer to that will be.

  13. I love the Peavy idea, he has to get some side work in between starts anyway, right?

Although, remember when Kevin Brown tried to do the same?

  14. So, Bard, Blum, Clark and the pitcher spot. We need to score this inning because the heart of the Brewers lineup is coming up.

  15. 263: Trevor has 2.53 era. He had the seventh best save percentage in baseball before this game.

  16. Spurling. We should be able to hit this guy and his 1.54 WHIP.

  17. 266: Not exactly the powerhouse part of our lineup to score a run with, though.

  18. 263: I would not hold my breath waiting for KT to pick up a big-name (expensive) closer. I think closer is one area not to worry much about. If Trevor declines next year, Bell will be fine

  19. 270 – agreed, but with this team it seems to come from a different guy each night.

  20. Phillies game is over and they refuse to switch to this game.

  21. I’m okay with using Bell as the closer, but then you lose your horse in the bully.

and, re: 268, I don’t need to tell you how bad Trevor has been in August and Sept. Those numbers to point to mostly came in the first half of the year.

  22. 265. Actually, I had forgotten that, but I still think when the postseason is on the line, you give the ball to the best you’ve got.

    Who pinch hits, Termell?

now LHP coming in, BUDDY! SIT TERMELL DOWN AND GET JASON LANE OR HEADLEY UP

  23. Thank you very much

  24. Yes. Jason Lane PH’ing for Sledge.

  25. 274. The sun will come up tomorrow, and KT will find another horse for the bully…

And head-first slides into first NEVER MAKE SENSE

  26. What the bleep was that?

  27. 274: In September Trevor has given up a .408 OPS. Basically he had a bad August, and now you’ve given up on him despite his fantastic work the rest of the year?

  28. That is why you run through the bag. Although he might have been losing his balance before that.

  29. I don’t think that was an intentional slide by Lane. I think he started to trip and then dove forward.

  30. It would be nice for Headley to get an at bat. I’m guessing he’s a better hitter than Jason Lane.

  31. I don’t like Thatcher seeing these guys three days in a row. Advantage hitter.

  32. Thatcher now vs. the heart of the Brewers.

  33. Typical Padre game though — way too many runners left on base. 13 baserunners for the Padres, only 8 for the Brewers yet the game is tied.

  34. This game will soon be over. What a waste.

  35. Was the Fielder walk intentional?

  36. Interesting in that every hit by the Brewers is an extra base hit — 3 doubles, two triples and a home run. Padres have 4 of their 8 for extra bases which is pretty good — if they lose this the main goat has to be Hairston for coming up three times with a runner on 2nd (once with one out though) and not moving him over.

  37. 282. I’ve given up on him because his strikeouts are way down, and he hasn’t blow this many games in a season since 2000, when he blew 7.

All his periphrials are going down, he’s 39 years old, and he isn’t going to get any better next year.

What’s the saying… better to get rid of a guy one year too early than one year too late.

  38. If you’re not going to bring in a righty to face Hart, it might have made more sense to go after Fielder. Fielder has an .831 OPS against lefties, Hart 1.038.

  39. 294 – I was wondering the same.

  40. That sucks. I’m going surfing.

  41. So, Peavy goes tomorrow? Which means, Maddux starts game 1 of the LDS.

  42. 299: Nope, it’s still Tomko tomorrow. Peavy will pitch on Monday if we lose tomorrow AND either the Mets win AND the Phillies win OR the Rockies win tonight AND the Rockies win tomorrow. Unless the Phillies and Mets both win and the Rockies lose, in which case the Phillies and Mets would have a one game playoff for the East division, and Peavy would pitch on Tuesday against the winner of that game.
