  1. 197: McCarver is the worst analyst of all time. It is a travesty that we have to put up with him year after year for the WS. I’m convinced that he’s got blackmail material on Murdoch or something.

  2. 199: LOL – i heartily agree

  3. Peavy didn’t get hurt dog-piling… That was a team excuse…

  4. I just don’t like Fox’s sports telecasts. Virtually everyone associated is guilty by association…

  5. anyone watching the spanish broadcast, let me know if they say “yo quiero Heath Bell”.

  6. 203: He wasn’t really hurt back in 2005 then? I didn’t know that.

    201: My sentiments exactly…

  7. Bell and his first pitch sliders are amazing. He gets them in almost every time, and I’ve never seen him hang one of ‘em.

  8. 4-1 Wash. now (7th)

  9. insurance runs needed for Hoffy please………..

  10. He was hurt – broken rib – it just didn’t happen in the pile-up

  11. 207, Yes, that’s a wicked pitch. THere it is again.

  12. 210 How did he do it?

  13. 207/211 Bell says he doesn’t throw a slider… He swears it’s a curve. That’s what Mud was raving about the other night.

  14. 80+ curve is wicked though

  15. 213 He can call it whatever he wants as long as he throws it for strikes. It does break pretty straight down, so maybe that’s what happens when you throw an overhand curve with a freakin’ cannon.

Nice shot of John Moores with an appreciative nod after Bell pumped the high heat for the K…

  16. 210: Did you notice how the team raved about R. Fick as a reserve 1B/C all season then suddenly he wasn’t with the team?

He and Peavy went out for drinks after clinching and Robert got an arguement with fan and threw a punch.

Jake stepped in to settle things down and instead of a fan getting the hay-maker, Jake caught it in the ribs.

  17. more runs SD!

  18. 203, 212: There have been rumors of Peavy as a fighter before. I don’t believe I’m at liberty to discuss them in detail. But that makes it worse. If it happened in the pileup, bad luck. If it happened in a bar brawl or because somebody insulted his wife…..let’s hope he’s learned.

  19. 216. Thanks, Safely Anonymous Padre Fan…

Nice to know…now Bud has to tail Peavy to the clubs with his Taser…

  20. Peavy was stepping in to break things up, Fick was at fault

  21. 216: Very, very interesting. I wonder if that fan was also the 2nd shooter behind the grassy knoll? Just kidding, it does seem like a reasonably plausible explanation.

  22. I heard Jake hurt his ribs taking shots of Don Julio with Fick.
    Kidding.

  23. 221 – yes, one in the same

  24. Follow up to 219: Just realized they are in Wisconsin. I think we are safe, I don’t think they have clubs in Wisconsin…Worst we can expect for Peavy is a wicked cheese hangover…

  25. If I was Robert Fick, I couldn’t be angry at anything. He’s not Willie McGee ugly, but he’s in the discussion, and his wife is, IIRC, just stunning.

  26. Let’s get it done Friars. I want to have a relaxing night with my wife and kids again.

  27. C’mon Scott

  28. 224: Milwaukee has more bars per capita than anywhere else in the states.

  29. 218: I think this is one “intangible” area where having Maddux around helps Peavy. Have you ever heard of Maddux doing anything ridiculous to hurt his team’s chances?

  30. Where’s the DONG?

  31. hoping that Fox will go to the Pads for the bottom of the ninth…. also, here’s to hoping that I find some gold coins imbetween the cushions in my sofa….

  32. 228: No kidding? My bad…

  33. 230: Don’t ask unless you really mean it. :)

  34. Wisconsin also leads the country in STD’s.

  35. LOL @ “leadoff capabilities” classic

  36. 232: They’ve got a lot of neighborhood joints, and that’s not necessarily “corner neighborhood bar.” It might be “that rundown house in the middle of the block.”

  37. Looks like Hoffy got some friendly calls against Prince.

  38. 234: let’s hope the Padres are responcible in their celebrations

  39. Karros thinks he’s on radio… (can’t stop talking)

  40. Man, Trevor has looked sharp in this series. 2 outs away from a third straigh playoff appearance.

  41. Where’s Matt V? This play calling is horrible. I almost fell asleep.

  42. Jeanie Zelasco just absolutely twisted the 1996 knife in Karros’ heart.

“How appropriate that a former Dodger is around when the Padres are about to clinch something”

    Nice.

  43. Welcome back Matt……..

  44. what was that double like?

  45. one out away from our third straight dance.

  46. Oh this is a bit bizzare…

  47. 244: Smoked to the left field corner

  48. Is TG sr. sitting out from calling the potentially playoff-clinching out?

  49. Blown save.
