About Ducksnorts

Welcome to Ducksnorts — analyzing the San Diego Padres and baseball in general since 1997.

About the Site

If you ever see Geoff in this pose during a game, be very afraidDucksnorts began as an attempt to learn about web technologies while writing about my passion, baseball. From its humble origins (a histrionic rant about Hideki Irabu, if you must know), Ducksnorts has evolved into a place where devout Padres fans gather to read about and discuss their favorite team.

About the Author

I’ve been following baseball since the late-’70s, obsessing about it since the mid-’80s, and writing about it since the mid-’90s. In addition to my work here at Ducksnorts, I am a regular contributor to Hardball Times and Baseball Digest Daily.

I’ve written two books, most recently the Ducksnorts 2008 Baseball Annual, and contributed to others, most recently the Hardball Times Season Preview 2008. For a complete listing, please see Other Writing and Media Appearances.

Elsewhere on the web, I maintain PadreBlogs.com, a repository for — you guessed it — blogs about the Padres. I’m also active in several social networking communities; for more details, please see my personal web site.

During the day I work as a technical editor/writer for a telecommunications company here in San Diego.

I’m available for radio, television, and personal speaking engagements. Please feel free to contact me.
