  1. Spilborghs bunts out to end the inning. I seriously doubt the Diamondbacks ability and motivation to grind out a couple of runs to win that game.

  2. This loss is going to be on Buddy for not getting Tomko out of there after the double to start off the 5th. It was clear Tomko lost it in the 4th, why keep him around? There is a reason his numbers are as bad as they are.

  3. I’d blame Meredith, Cameron, Brocail, and Blum much more than Tomko and Black. Black got Tomko out of there before the tying run had scored; the relievers and Blum just didn’t do their jobs. If Blum fields that ground ball and turns two, then suddenly we’re up 4-3 and Black looks like a genius.

  4. 152: yup…and having Silent L in with a groundball pitcher like Meredith.

No reason for the Snakes to try to win this game.
It’s good for them to get the Rox vs the Padres tomorrow.

    Well, see you all tomorrow.

  5. d-backs have a runner on second with one out

  6. walked, two on – pitching change

  7. Carlos Quentin singles in a run for the D-Backs. 1-1, runners on first and second, one out.

  8. Why would the dbacks try to win? Why not tax Pads/Rox an extra game and get rid of Peavy till end of potential series?

  9. Professional pride. The players will play hard, but there’s no way Bob Melvin will put in his best players to try and win.

  10. I’ll be damned. DBacks gonna do this for us?

  11. I’ll bet there have never been this many Padres fans rooting for the Diamondbacks in a long, long time

  12. 162: Nope. I doubt they’re going to use their good pitchers, so it’s going to be very difficult for them to hold any lead.

  13. Conor Jackson strikes out. Jeff Cirillo pinch hits with two outs and runners on first and second still.

  14. Third times the charm? All we ask is three runs an inning.

  15. Cirillo K’s. On to the bottom of the seventh.

  16. Looking at gameday, I’m not sure who’s strikezone is wider – Wegner’s or Nelson’s. Those look like some ‘last game of the year’ calls…

  17. Not to cast too negative an outlook, but if this continues to go badly, what’s the match-up tomorrow, Peavy vs. Fogg?

  18. It would be nice if the snakes could help us out, but this was all on us. We had 2 games to put this away.

  19. 168… Didn’t look like any of the four pitches were within three inches of the zone.

  20. Nippert pitching the bottom of the seventh.

  21. 169: It appears that is the match up, unless they bring back Morales on short rest.

  22. I wouldn’t mind a little nippert from my flask…

  23. On to the eighth in Denver. 2-3-4 hitters up for both teams.

  24. Maybe we can get Morton and Macias an AB here just for the sake of the experience.

  25. I know it doesn’t look good in Colorado, but I’d feel a whole lot better with it 1-1 in the 8th than 0-0 in the 1st. Anything can happen…

  26. 176: This might be thier last career game in the bigs so they might as well.

  27. KOUZ!!!

  28. HOMBRE!!!

  29. wow back to back… a little late fellas

  30. was Greene just robbed???

  31. Runners on first and second in Denver, and lefty Jeff Salazar comes up against lefty Brian Fuentes. No pinch hitter, Salazar K’s, on to the bottom of the eighth.

  32. Throwing error by Mark Reynolds puts Tulowitzki on, Hammock can’t field a ball hit by Holliday, and the Rockies have runners on first and third.

  33. This doesnt look good…

  34. Wow, ultimately the Padres outhit the Brewers 14-11, with more extra base hits. Maybe if Black had gotten Cameron after the second walk instead of after the third, the Padres would have won.

  35. 2-1 Rockies, with the bases still loaded and no outs. Way to go D-Backs fielders.

  36. 4-1 Rockies. Go Jake tomorrow.

  37. Mission October is on life support. Ridiculous we couldn’t get one of the last 2 games.

  38. Lots of maybes…

  39. You know, it’s hard to not respect the Rockies. That team’s got some good guys and they’re all playing some great baseball.

It’s gonna be a great game tomorrow. And I’m going to be happy for either team that wins.

  40. We didnt have a mission october this year… we were just suposed to “Experience It!”

Looks like we are playing in Colorado tomorrow.

  41. Well so much for that. On paper Jake vs Fogg is a mismatch, but the Rockies have the momentum. Hopefully the boys can find what it takes to win more game, but these last two have hurt. To be one strike away, and Trevor’s pitch wasn’t even a bad one, but Junior pulled his best impersonation of his Dad. *sigh* It’s all on Jake.

  42. Oh and the D-Backs and Dodgers can go shove it for sending out AAA lineups against the Rockies on 3+ occasions. Thanks for the respect. I don’t know which team I dislike more.

  43. Jake Peavy is the best pitcher in the NL. I feel good about our chances.

Now the D-Backs bring in Brandon Lyon and get a strikeout and GIDP to end the inning. The horse is out of the barn, fellows.

  44. I bought a Rockies hat in 1993 because of the fire sale. I’m thinking I should burn it in effigy tomorrow.

  45. Cirillo is the tie-ing run with 1-on and 1-out in top of 9th …

  46. Cirillo was no help … but Callaspo singled in a run … now Drew up with 2-out and tie-ing run on 1st …

  47. We’re goin’ to Colorado … some good news is that Fuentes went 1.2 today … and Corpas pitched a very “rocky” 9th (3 hits and 2 runs) …
