58: Numbers which translate to acceptable but hardly great production for a rookie. That’s not to run Ellsbury down, but they’re in baseball’s toughest division, or second-toughest between the AL Central. They haven’t gotten the power they expected from Ortiz or Drew, even Manny has slipped.
I don’t know who we have that would interest them. Ellsbury would make a very valuable backup OF.
You know, a changeup might be an outstanding pitch for Jake.
Got a good feeling that Marquis de Giles is gonna break out of his slump today and return Blummer to the bench. I’m saying 3-4 with a bomb and 3 RBIs. Thoughts?
67, because agon has been a 250 for nearly two months now. Are you saying he will be hitting 300 soon? The only way he gets on base is to walk. But I’ll take it.
Re: 78 I think part of Adrians problem this year is that he is trying to hit for more power because he is in the 3/4 spot, his HR’s are up but so are his SO’s
72: “The hitting bandit”? As in, Morgan(na) the hitting (kissing) bandit….. might be a stretch…. but, derivations like “bandito” and what-not could be fun….
A 2 month skid of hitting .250 isn’t exactly a clear sign that he is a career .265 “at best”. I’m not saying he’s a going to be a career .300 hitter I have no clue what he’s going to hit, it’s his 2nd season. Cut the guy some freaking slack dude the entire team is in the gutter offensively and has been all season. How many games did Adrian win for us at the begining of the season? Piling on a 2nd year player that was great last year and started of great again but has struggled for late is kind of idiotic IMO.
The game is not on on the MLBtv schedule today. The Padres are on a lot more often than last year, but still not on the schedule for every game.
I can’t stand Byrnes either. According to Win Shares, he is actually the best player in the NL this season, based on his great fielding in left and that Arizona is a pitcher’s park. But I think his hustle is false and his hair is stupid and he is always doing those “reporting” stints on Fox that someone must think are so clever. He’s also 31, and this will probably be his career year.
I don’t see why any team would want Johnny Damon or Andruw Jones. They are not good right now. The Yankees already paid for past performance once with Damon.
The problem with insulting NOG to get him jump-started is someone already showed confidence in him in this thread. Clearly, he got complacent, with disastrous results. I think we need a massive effort to overcome that complacency, with everyone chipping in to insult him.
I’ll start. NOG, you are approaching Jason Kendall territory with your hitting.
Boston won’t be in the market for a CF. They have Jacoby Ellsbury ready to take over…
Re: 51 you dont think they will make a run at Jones?
51: Ellsbury has a 697 OPS in AAA. They might use him, but they’ve got more money than Yoko Ono and they don’t rebuild.
Re: 53 kind of what I thought
hey peter any idea why the Pads moved Michael Epping up to LE form FtW? he’ws hitting he was hitting .217/.300/.409 in low A ball
Justin Upton starting in Right field for the D-Bags today!
Oooopppsss!!! Actually not starting today.
55: no…
53: Sure, but Ellsbury hit:
AA (2007): .452/.518/644
AA (2006): .308/.387/.434
Hi-A (2006): .295/.375/.414
His career minor league numbers are: .306/.387/.423
If Boston does sign Andruw (I don’t think there’s any chance of it), we should trade for Ellsbury.

Re: 58 what do the pads have that the redsox would want for Ellsbury? I have a feeling they may go after crisp though.
Jake breaks out the curveball to fan Byrnes. Nice. The 21 pitches weren’t so nice, though.
Good news: Peavy struck out the side
Bad news: It took 21 pitches
ouch 2 SO in 8 Pitches
And Jake gets another K on the curve.
Got a good feeling that Marquis de Giles is gonna break out of his slump today and return Blummer to the bench. I’m saying 3-4 with a bomb and 3 RBIs. Thoughts?
Its clear now that agon had his career year last year and is not the player that Tex thought it was trading to the pads. He’s a 265 guy at best.
66.
How is that clear?
Re: 65 if he hits a bomb he wont go 3-4 he will go 1-4 with 3 SO, NOG needs to stop swinging for the fences and slap the ball around the feild.
Welcome to SD mr Ensberg!
WOW!!!
Morg-MAN Ensberg.
ENNNNNNNNNNZZZZZ!!! (this guy needs a nickname, somebody quick!)
Welcome to the Padres, Morgan Ensberg!
Morgan is a good addition right now.
Anyone getting the game on MLB TV – it is saying that it is blacked out?
And Morgan should be in this lineup everyday. It’s worth a gamble. The guy is a proven power hitter when healthy.
Re: 76 its nice that he hit a HR in his first AB but lets not get to ahead of ourselfs here, he is still hitting .236 on the year.

For Gonzalez, two months is a small sample size.

Peavy: 1,000 strikeouts.
only 4,715 more to pass Ryan
Hombre.
Wow. Just in time for you PM!
Works every time. When I bag on a player, he hits a HR. Way to go, Agon. I bet that one felt really good.
Adrian was checking ducksnorts posts between innings
Lets see, who should I bag on next;) I would try NOG be he may be beyond my help.
Bandito!
way beyond my help. Nice groundout NOG. Can Ensburg play second?
PM, try Greene.
Peavy’s ERA down to 2.33

Marcus, you are not orange.
who just got hurt? Gameday says injury delay . .
Who’s hurt now?
Marcus, I wish it was you hit with the ball at second instead of our beloved best padre player cammy. Might knock some sense into ya.
Cam’s hurt??? Oh, crap
He remained in the game.
