Jake dominated the Dodgers last weekend in San Diego. Perhaps more importantly, he seems to have gotten into their heads with Smudgegate. Here’s hoping he can work that to his advantage.

  1. No worries. Jones is up. Easy out ;-)

  2. Where did that miss?!!!!

  3. many of Jake’s pitches tonight have gotten too much of the plate – like the homer to Loney and the single by Martin.

  4. Here come’s Thatcher….

  5. whew. out of the sixth.

  6. way to go boys … Sweeny was on deck …. yuck

  7. Not his best six innings, but Peavy has done a good job in keep the Dodgers in check without his best stuff (or pinetar ;-) )

  8. I’ll give Blake DeWitt credit for chosing Led Zepplin’s ‘Battle For The Evermore’ as his intro music.

  9. Kouz has to love being sandwiched between Gonzalez and Edmonds in the late innings. He’s going to see lots and lots of LOOGYs.

  10. Count up to 31

  11. Edmonds reminds me of watching ‘Silent L’ last year…

  12. 163: That’s harsh ;-)

  13. Edmonds breaks the streak! lol

  14. EXTRA BASES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. 78 Padres had 39 straights singles ….. and with that the streak ends at 31

  16. AN EXTRA BASE HIT!!! AN EXTRA BASE HIT!!!

  17. And the streak ends at 31 :-)

  18. New nickname for Edmonds—Silent L2.

Blum would pull a hit out of his ass once and awhile as well.

  19. time to purchase some insurance here…get the RBI Greenie

  20. ok KG bring them in the flood gates are now open for extra bases

  21. Good job KG!

  22. atta boy Greenie. got that run back.

  23. It almost looked like KG got more of that.

  24. I’m OK with going to the pen now

  25. Thatcher looked good in his last outing. Hopefully he keeps it going

  26. Furcal is a real pain in the arse.

  27. Yeah he is

  28. Not bad for a sophomore. 16 of final 17 by K, with the one exception a sac bunt.

    From SDSU site:

SAN DIEGO – “San Diego State sophomore right-hander Stephen Strasburg etched his name in the record books as he struck out 23 batters in the Aztecs’ 1-0 win over Utah Friday evening at Tony Gwynn Stadium. Strasburg set both the SDSU and Mountain West Conference marks for strikeouts in a game as he allowed only four base runners on the night, none of which passed second base.

…the night belonged to Strasburg (4-1), who did not allow a base runner until the fourth inning with a base on balls to Corey Shimada. After Shimada was caught stealing, Strasburg got 16 of the Utes’ final 17 outs via the strikeout with the other coming on a sacrifice bunt in the final frame. Utah’s lone hit of the contest was a chopper by Michael Beltran that got through the middle of the diamond in the sixth.”
