Jake dominated the Dodgers last weekend in San Diego. Perhaps more importantly, he seems to have gotten into their heads with Smudgegate. Here’s hoping he can work that to his advantage.

  1. OK, our last 29 hits have been for singles. That’s got to be a record streak of hits without an extra-base hit. (9 today, 4 Thur, 13 Wed, and the last 3 hits Tue)

  2. Zagz .. what did the one batter do that he did not striek out ??

  3. That was a wicked nasty slider!!!

  4. 101: In the live ball era, maybe.

  5. So who does the Dodgers sign next year to a big contract to play CF? LOL!

  6. 102: No idea, I just got the info from the 2008 NCAA record book. I’ll try a google search.

  7. 100 comments after 3.5 innings. You’ve come a long way, baby.

  8. Nice 3 to 1 play.

  9. Nice play Gonzo!

  10. nice play Adrian .. and Jake

  11. There was a lot of time spent yesterday bashing Edmonds. How about those Dodgers and their centerfielder? Would everyone be happier with AJones in CF for the Pads with his pricetag?

  12. I don’t like much about Brad Penny, but his entrance music is pretty sweet. Baba O’Riley by the Who.

  13. 111: Jones is probably a bit more likely to have a productive season than Edmonds still. Given the price tag, though, I’ll take Scott Hairston.

  14. 111: No. Just happier with Hairston and one of our young guys. Sure, Edmonds looks good compared to a worse scenario.

  15. 111: Thank goodness KT didn’t sign THAT deal. I’d rather have Edmonds, whose hitting 304, cost $6 mil for one year and average defense; than Jones, whose hitting 121, cost $36 mil for two years

  16. We currently have five guys in the lineup batting over 300

  17. 116: All those singles are good for something, I guess.

  18. If they keep hitting singles, they will all be slugging .300.

  19. 30 straight now

  20. Yet another single. Amazing.

  21. Ohhh, so close. I was screaming at my computer for Khalil to go to second on that, to break the streak. But no, it’s just another in the avalanche of singles.

  22. 18: LMAO!

  23. Good AB KG….thought my boy was gonna strike out. Another single.

  24. San Diego State IP H R ER BB SO AB BF ERA

    Strasburg, Stephen.. 9.0 1 0 0 1 23 26 30 1.97

    Aztec’s win 1 -0

  25. I could be wrong, but I think the DBacks are riding 30 straight extra-base hits. Those boys can hit!

  26. See if Peavy can record outs against Furcal and Pierre

  27. Dang it

  28. OK BARDO !!!!!!

  29. perfect throw by Bard. Love it.

  30. WOW!!!!!!

  31. Caught Stealing!!!! OMG!!!!

  32. I was screaming so loud on that throw I scared the dog who was sound asleep

  33. now that was an inning !!!

  34. Nice. Jake may go another complete game if they keep this up.

  35. Nice inning of work there Peavy

  36. I’d have the pen up ready for the quick hook for Peavy in the sixth. The scoreless innings are something of a mirage, as he’s still getting hit and still struggling to locate his pitches. A very nice changeup to retire Ethier though.

  37. That Caught Stealing was sure nice to see – watching Furcal run wild on us last year made me sick

  38. ‘Missed it by that much.’

  39. I wouldn’t mind breaking our singles streak !!

  40. 136: ain’t that the truth

  41. I’m surprised that Torre is letting Penny stay in this long. He’s already well over 110 pitches

  42. Good attention span Dodger crowd.

  43. Strasburg’s game for SDSU is amazing. From the opposite end of the college baseball spectrum I offer you:

Pretty good day for a kid named Jacob Pridy.

  44. Iguchi is probably Penny’s last batter

  45. 143 .. thanks for the info … he’s a senior .. looks like he had a great college career

  46. Peavy’s changeup looks like his best pitch tonight.

  47. ouch

  48. So that’s what an extra base hit looks like.

  49. Jake is not on his game tonight.
