IGD: Padres vs Pirates (19 Sep 07)

Game #151
time: 7:05 p.m. PT
tv: 4SD
sp: Chris Young (9-7, 2.77) vs Ian Snell (9-12, 3.92)
pre: Padres.com, B-R.com

Chris Young is 1-4 with a 4.30 ERA in 10 starts since the All-Star break. Opponents are hitting just .161/.273/.294 against him during that stretch. Wait, do you smell something? I think it’s a disconnect.

Ian Snell, meanwhile, is giving a clinic on second-half meltdowns. He is 2-7 with a 5.40 ERA in 13 starts, and a much more sensible .302/.363/.511 opponent batting line.

  1. 50: bottom of the lineup for Pitt in the 7th so I wouldn’t be surprised to CY back out….unless of course, his spot in the order somehow comes up in the 6th…

  2. DBs up 6-4 in the 7th

  3. 18: I’ve been to a few, used to be a family tradition when my son would come to visit from Spokane. We didn’t attend this year, first time in like 5 years. I’m not much of a rodeo person myself, but the kid gets a kick out of it.

  4. Let’s get it going! This game is still totally winnable. We need this “W”.

  5. I don’t have a ballcap. But, I can turn my Padres shirt inside out.

  6. 55: My build-a-bear monkey has his rally cap on. We can totally get this game.

  7. All Sledge needs is a base hit to tie this.

  8. I’d really love to know the logic that went into Sledge pinch hitting here.

  9. Didn’t need him looking at strike three.

  10. Please don’t get lit up Cla…

  11. Ensberg has actually faced Matt Capps and homered off of him.

I think Tony Gwynn said it best on Strike #2 for Sledge in which he fouled off -”Sledge’s swing looked a little long there”.

Oh well, at least this means as big at bats mount in the coming weeks that it may not be Sledge strolling to the plate.

  12. 61: The silver lining I suppose. I really would have liked to tie it up there.

  13. Cla, thanks for being solid. Keep up the work, young man.

  14. A walk off homer would be real neato right now.

  15. Alright AGon. Come on Greenie!!!

  16. I almost can’t watch. I think I need some nitro pills for my heart. Arrrr.

  17. WALK OFF HOMER FOR HAIRSTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Scott Hairston, second best pick-up of the year?

  20. That’s what I’m talking about!

  21. Holy. Crap.

  22. WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! YOU CANNOT STOP SCOTT HAIRSTON, YOU CAN ONLY HOPE TO CONTAIN HIM!!!!!

  23. YES……………..EPIC.

  24. Once again our boy Valverde put runners in scoring position only to get out of it.

  25. 76: I was trying to remember that one but wanted to be 100% right. Did Flan say that after Ramon’s HR? Khalil’s off Fuentes?

  26. 76: Ditto. Always Keep the Faith!

  27. I hope the Phillies stayed up late tonight to watch that walk-off :) .

For the first time in my life (?), I’ll be a big Dodger fan this weekend. Not sure how that will feel…

  28. 69 … I just *love* it when you do that, Lance!

  29. “Shrek” Hairston with the game winner was awesome tonight. It was one of those games that you keep the ticket stub, attach it to tomorrow’s paper and put it away for your son to be able to have years later…

The energy in the place was incredible. From Khalil’s at bat on, everyone was on their feet… the “Kooooz” went on throughout his at bat, everytime he stepped in the box. It was like the entire place was willing the Padres to win it…

    Awesome. Totally Awesome! Alright, Hairston!
