Dogs (with Boomer on mound) @ Rox are 3-3 after 2 full (in 2nd game of day-night DH) …
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=270918327
… Wells has thrown 48 pitches in the 1st 2 innings … nice … and the Dog bully has already worked 2.2 IP today …
September 18, 2007 at 6:27 pm
And the Cards are up 3-1 on Phily after 3 …

Good work putting together the lineup by Black tonight. He gives OG a day off against a tough lefty, putting Clark out in right, and NOG gets the start at second. Good hitters hit at the top of the lineup; bad hitters hit at the bottom.
September 18, 2007 at 6:37 pm
SD4 Trivia question to easy tonight.
Who threw out the first MLB pitch at Petco Park?
A. Woody Williams
B. David Wells
C. Jake Peavy
Obvious answer is A because Wells and Peavy weren’t even Padres when the Park opened.
September 18, 2007 at 6:47 pm
4 … uh, guess again?
http://www.baseball-reference......4080.shtml
September 18, 2007 at 6:47 pm
3: Marcus has hit worse than Barrett and Clark for us though, he should be hitting 8th.
September 18, 2007 at 6:49 pm
5 … btw, my kind of game … 3 blown saves! … and the Padres win!
September 18, 2007 at 6:51 pm
They are underway in Arizona …

September 18, 2007 at 6:53 pm
I forgot Wells was here that year. Wow, a lot of us tricked on that one. Majority chose Williams.
September 18, 2007 at 7:04 pm
1 … Holliday dings Wells for a pair … Rox now up 5-4 after 5 …
September 18, 2007 at 7:05 pm
7: Wasn’t that the game when Gary Payton robbed Barry Bonds of a homer and the Pads won 1-0? I haven’t checked your link, but that’s my recollection (of course, I might have thrown three different memories into one recollection….)
September 18, 2007 at 7:06 pm
Okay, so I’m not on the Barret-bashing-wagon, but I am a little disappointed to see him starting behind the plate tonight. Maddux has been throwing so well lately with Bard behind the dish, that I really hate messing with that kind of mojo…
September 18, 2007 at 7:08 pm
2 … Philly’s tie it up 3-3 in top of 6th …
September 18, 2007 at 7:09 pm
11: Okay, so I checked the link. I think my memory is mostly right except I forgot about the blown saves. Oh well.
September 18, 2007 at 7:09 pm
8 … D-backs with 4 quick ones … up 4-0 on Gi’nts after 1st …
September 18, 2007 at 7:11 pm
14 … and you forgot Jay Payton’s first name … but it’s an interesting typo, assuming that the “robbed” happened with a “glove”
September 18, 2007 at 7:14 pm
Dink, dink, dink … hey, what’s with Bay batting 6th?
September 18, 2007 at 7:14 pm
Mad Dog has good placement tonight, but the bloopers are dropping in the wrong places.
September 18, 2007 at 7:15 pm
16: Holy Crap! I can’t believe I typed that. I really meant to type Jay Payton. Wow. I need more sleep….
September 18, 2007 at 7:17 pm
Philly starting to scare me….we really need them to lose tonight.
September 18, 2007 at 7:21 pm
This is nice havin’ KK in the 3-spot with the first 2 guys getting on!
September 18, 2007 at 7:23 pm
20 … Mets lose … if they keep that up, we won’t have to worry about Philly
September 18, 2007 at 7:24 pm
1 - Dogs get 3 … now up 7-5 after 5-1/2 …
September 18, 2007 at 7:26 pm
I like seeing Gorzelanney struggling in the 1st inning. Good indication they will have to go to the pen early.
September 18, 2007 at 7:28 pm
Are you guys ready to get pissed off at Barrett for blowing this opportunity? Because I sure am!
September 18, 2007 at 7:29 pm
22: Except we’ll have to worry about the Mets….
September 18, 2007 at 7:31 pm
25 … good ‘nuf, huh?
September 18, 2007 at 7:31 pm
All right, Barrett! Way to avoid being a scapegoat for at least one at bat.
September 18, 2007 at 7:32 pm
Any chance NOG takes the first pitch?
September 18, 2007 at 7:33 pm
29 … hmmm, RBI single by NOG … how cool is that? I’d say he had a better than 20% of getting a hit in that situation … and it happened!
September 18, 2007 at 7:34 pm
It would be sweet if A-Gon could get 4 dingers and 13 RBI before the end of the season. I’d love to see his season totals as 30hrs and 100RBI. I think that would do a lot for his “PR”…
September 18, 2007 at 7:38 pm
Ouch, how bad are the Cardinals right now? It’s September, and Adam Wainwright is PH’ing in the bottom of the 7th …
On the bright side, he got a single!!!
September 18, 2007 at 7:38 pm
The Yankees are now 2.5 back of the Redsox.. Holy Crap!
September 18, 2007 at 7:39 pm
After 1 …
Pitches-strikes - T Gorzelanny 31-17; G Maddux 20-15.
Ground balls-fly balls - T Gorzelanny 1-2; G Maddux 2-0.
Batters faced - T Gorzelanny 8; G Maddux 7.
… that inning by Gorz makes Maddux’ not look so bad!
September 18, 2007 at 7:47 pm
Interesting read:

September 18, 2007 at 7:49 pm
Thank you AGONZO!!!!!!!!!!!
September 18, 2007 at 7:53 pm
Another chance for Barrett to fail us miserably.
September 18, 2007 at 7:54 pm
This time he comes through (at failing us miserably). Good thing the pop out came with two outs and the deeper fly out with one.
September 18, 2007 at 8:04 pm
Barrett, uuuggg. Take him out, hes a jinx.
September 18, 2007 at 8:16 pm
Joe Mauer. Answer to AFLAC trivia on 4sd?
September 18, 2007 at 8:17 pm
SOrry Freddy Sancheze.
September 18, 2007 at 8:18 pm
Mauer was the AL’s.
September 18, 2007 at 8:20 pm
#39: OK, I’ll jump on your bandwagon now after that.
September 18, 2007 at 8:21 pm
Glad Mad Dog was able to get out of that one.
September 18, 2007 at 8:27 pm
Let’s rock-n-roll in this 4th!!!!!!!
September 18, 2007 at 8:29 pm
Phillies up 4-3 in the top of the 10th
September 18, 2007 at 8:31 pm
#39 Ditto
September 18, 2007 at 8:32 pm
#39: I’m now *definately* on your bandwagon!!!!!!!!!!!
Barrett just f*cked up a bases loaded situation when he had all the opprotunity against a struggling pitcher. Grrrrrr.
September 18, 2007 at 8:33 pm
I officially dislike Barrett with a passion. 3 times with bases loaded and swinging on first pitch. Idiot!!! Take pitches — it builds tension.
September 18, 2007 at 8:33 pm
We’ve had 13 base runners in 4 innings. Some extra base hits would help us convert those to runs more efficiently.
September 18, 2007 at 8:35 pm
Holy Helton, Batman!
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=270918327
September 18, 2007 at 8:36 pm
Walk off two run homer by Todd Helton to win the game 9-8 in Colorado tonight.
September 18, 2007 at 8:37 pm
I’ve been a Barrett defender before but he’s been awful so far for the Padres. He just hasn’t hit at all. At least they are winning tonight, no help from him. He’s batted with 9 runners on base, driven in one and made four outs. That’s pretty damn bad.
September 18, 2007 at 8:37 pm
Even bloopers would really help with runners in scoring position. I wish our batters would quit going to the plate thinking they are going to hit a GS in Petco.
September 18, 2007 at 8:40 pm
4-4 in St. Louis.
September 18, 2007 at 8:41 pm
Barrett will be on the postseason roster (if they make it) just because they don’t have another catcher. I’m guessing they are regretting designating LaForest now.
September 18, 2007 at 8:41 pm
The Cards have tied up the Phils 4-4 in the 10th
September 18, 2007 at 8:42 pm
Damn, I wish Black would have left Maddux in for the 6th!
September 18, 2007 at 8:46 pm
Sometimes I think when the Padres have the bases loaded they should do the opposite of what everyone hopes for:BASE HIT HOME RUN WHATEVER.
Maybe they should just BUNT — just to mess stuff up and not hit into a double play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Viva Khalil……….
September 18, 2007 at 8:49 pm
#59: Jon, I tend to agree with that. What is Danny’s assertation of that theory?
September 18, 2007 at 8:59 pm
If Barrett comes up with men on base again, I vote he gets PH’d for … even if it’s just Colt Morton … stop the madness!
September 18, 2007 at 9:00 pm
#59 - That assumes that Barrett could get a bunt down. He’d probably pop it up to the pitcher.
September 18, 2007 at 9:02 pm
Yahoo is saying Adrian was IW’d … huh?
September 18, 2007 at 9:03 pm
Thats what MLB Gameday says too
September 18, 2007 at 9:05 pm
1st was open after Cameron advanced on Kouz’s ground out…
September 18, 2007 at 9:06 pm
At least Barrett had a decent at bat before he killed the inning this time
September 18, 2007 at 9:08 pm
I like kouz hitting third, good to see the kid get rewarded. The .270 BA is nice to see too.
September 18, 2007 at 9:08 pm
Wow marcus didnt swing at a single pitch!
September 18, 2007 at 9:09 pm
Michael Barrett is f’ing useless. At least Khalil is getting some runs across on my b-day.
September 18, 2007 at 9:10 pm
Jebus Padres, how many men are you gonna leave on base? Heat’s not available tonite, how about we convert some of these hits into runs?
September 18, 2007 at 9:11 pm
1 run was kinda of pathetic from that inning
September 18, 2007 at 9:15 pm
Perfect inning for Claw
September 18, 2007 at 9:15 pm
60,61,62…..Ha guys how are you doing .I just stared school 3rd grade. My dad says i got to go to bed. maybe i talk tomorrow.
September 18, 2007 at 9:19 pm
OK Danny, good night. Good luck with 3rd grade and enjoy while you can.
September 18, 2007 at 9:25 pm
What is our LOB at now?
September 18, 2007 at 9:27 pm
Despite what the bevy of runners left on tonight would imply, the Padres have hit much better with runners on base than with the bases empty this year.
Empty: .238/.304/.396
Runners on: .265/.342/.425
Runners in scoring position: .270/.353/.438
The Padres have actually been really clutch this year.
September 18, 2007 at 9:27 pm
#75: Shitty
September 18, 2007 at 9:29 pm
76: I must miss all the games that they hit well with runners on. Good to know they are actually getting it done.
September 18, 2007 at 9:30 pm
Owings pitched a complete game. 5-0 d-backs
September 18, 2007 at 9:30 pm
Can of corn to Bay. Let’s get out of this game while the gettin’s good.
September 18, 2007 at 9:42 pm
KG’s got the Pirate’s # tonight and now Barrett will f*ck it up.
September 18, 2007 at 9:42 pm
I’ll start the chant: FREE COLT MORTON!
September 18, 2007 at 9:43 pm
Barrett is just awful… Why did we drop Laforest again?
September 18, 2007 at 9:45 pm
Wow, Barrett has been nothing short of worthless since coming to the Padres.
September 18, 2007 at 9:45 pm
Let’s hope Trevor can spin some magic to get this game over.
September 18, 2007 at 9:49 pm
Seems like Adrian should have had a play on that first single.
September 18, 2007 at 9:52 pm
Padres win! Padres win! Padres win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 18, 2007 at 9:53 pm
Remember when Trevor was washed up and done when he had that rough stretch in August?
September 18, 2007 at 9:54 pm
Then he pitched against SF and PITT.
September 18, 2007 at 9:59 pm
Barrett is about as bad a catcher as I have seen in a while. Sposed to have a decent bat but hasn’t shown it yet. Thank got Padre Majo is stronger then the Barrett Curse this night. Now, sit down Michael Barrett down at the end of the bench and don’t make a peep.
September 19, 2007 at 3:45 am

I was initially excited about the Barrett trade, not so much now. He’s terrible — he’s made quite a few bonehead plays. And he never walks . . . and I mean never, like Vinny Castilla never.
Bard has to be the everyday guy at this point.
