Three things:
- Carlos Ruiz is an idiot. Thanks for lighting a fire under the team’s collective posterior. Here’s hoping Marcus Giles is okay.
- Great response by the Padres. Embarrassing the opposition in its home park with a 14-3 whooping is sweet revenge.
- What did we ever do without Milton Bradley? The Padres score 5.28 runs per game when he’s in the lineup, 4.29 when he’s not.
I cling to a fantasy that Clay Hensley will return to 2006 form. That would be helpful beyond description. Go Padres!
As a pitching coach, you can’t be too displeased with a 13-pitch inning, despite the home run.
As a hitting coach, you should be depressed.
How’s that hip feel buddy??
I just want to go on record as being old school enough that I completely approve of that…
50: What are you waiting for? Demand more frickin runs!
Love Brocale for that, clearly sending a message. NOG is on the DL, here is one in your ear (butt cheek).
I don’t like it because it gives the Phillies a runner and Ruiz is a bad hitter.
53: I’m in complete agreement….
54: Make sure they’re Padres’ runs….
And it works out perfectly…the message was sent….no damage done
Now is the time for a coupla more frickin runs, please. Lets see if they throw at one of our guys.
Brocail is tough. I wouldn’t want to charge a mound he’s on. Let’s get some runs now……
Anyone know if we’re calling up someone for 2nd base?
It’s our turn for a PH home run….
there’s my answer…….
MLB debut for Stansberry, me thinks …
Craig Stansberry, greatest hitter in history. 2.000 career OPS.
St Louis rally’s for 5 in bottom of 5th … now up 5-3 on Braves …
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=270825124
… that’s good for Padres …
66 … I’d bet that needs to be qualified as “Padres’ history” … but I’m not in the mood to do the research to back that up … either way, it’s a good point
68: Oh, yeah, you’re probably right, as I’m sure many other people have had similarly auspicious one at bat careers.
2 – that was me, thanks Geoff. I know it’s a small sample size but I was just curious…
Ugh….that’s the answer of who stays at 3B and who moves to LF between Headley and Kouz….
Silent L, WTF!!!!
Nice job by Hampson to get out of that jam when his defense gave the Phils arguably three extra outs.
Thru 7 …
Pitches-strikes – C Hensley 102-62; D Brocail 13-8; C Meredith 3-3; J Hampson 14-11; K Lohse 84-57; J Romero 3-2.
Ground balls-fly balls – C Hensley 5-4; D Brocail 2-0; C Meredith 1-0; J Hampson 0-0; K Lohse 7-9; J Romero 0-1.
Batters faced – C Hensley 23; D Brocail 5; C Meredith 2; J Hampson 3; K Lohse 26; J Romero 2.
… seemed like a nice job by Hampson …
71 … can you explain that?
Bang.
Gameday makes that look like it went 550 feet
Park Place, we love you!!!! Just don’t hit me.
JENGA!!!!!!
Wow … Bradley does it again!
77: It looks like he hit it to Pittsburgh.
Jenga….holy cow…
That ball was absolutely crushed!
I was talking about the pop out that Kouzmanoff dropped. He’s not a good fielder so I don’t there is any way he stays at 3B next season (assuming Headley starts the year with the club).
Park Place, we love, just don;t hit me!!!!
83 … ah, now I see it in the box score …
Also, can someone describe the Bradley “throwing error”?
Step out to the garage for 1 minute and I miss the best moment of the game.
Remind me again why we call him Jenga?
milton bradley game and you just never know what you’re going to get…
85. Bradley’s “error” was an attempt to nail a runner at first after the batter had lined out. The throw was right on line and bounced once but Adrian had to give it the ole treatment to avoid the runner and it got away. It’s not like he airmailed the base or threw so wide. The throw was good but Adrian couldn’t handle it and no one backed the throw up.
OT – Tim Redding being the Tim Redding we all remember …
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/boxscore?gid=270825127
… ouch, how low is the bar to be in an MLB rotation???
Hmmm, I’d forgotten that “Muscle” had signed with Phillies … it’s actually amazing how many players that the Padres have “cut” that are on other MLB rosters right now …
Nice inning by “Heat” Bell (to steal a nickname I saw someone else use in earlier comments) …
According to MadFriars, Antonelli is scheduled to play in AFL … I think this means they don’t expect him to be a Sept callup …
I love this park!
It’s because the Padres are the fourth in runs in the NL on the road.
Hoffman has had a lot of work lately after having about two weeks off a few weeks ago.
Holy Kouzmanoff!
For those of you that didn’t see the past inning or so, but the Jenga tower is getting quite high. Bradley took a wide turn at home plate to give some Philly fans some lip on his way back to the dugout. And then after he had taken his place in left to warmup for the bottom of the eighth, he was staring and talking to the fans in the left field bleachers.
OK, the Padres should move into this park.
95 … huh?
