IGD: Padres @ Mets (23 Aug 07)

Game #126
time: 4:10 p.m. PT
tv: 4SD
sp: Justin Germano (6-7, 4.18) vs Tom Glavine (11-6, 4.12)
pre: Padres.com, SI.com, B-R.com

It’s amazing to think that these two pitchers have combined to win 308 games in the big leagues. What’s that? Tom Glavine accounts for 301 of those? Yes, I know. I’m sorry, did you have a point?

  1. The walk was the worst. Even the one strike wasn’t in the zone. You don’t want to go inside to Alou, but that was ridiculous.

  2. Unless Headley gets hurt, Kouz will not be our third baseman next year. LF, maybe in a platoon, and spot-starts at first base.

  3. NOG steps up and has a decent game, and it’s OG that’s killing us by not being able to get runners in.

  4. There has never been a moment this year when I wasn’t absolutely sure the Padres would win the Division…

But tonight, for the first time, I’m getting the feeling that maybe it’s just not gonna happen this year.

  5. DP just rips your heart out after the Mets give you a gift. We’re last in the NL in GIDP, second only to the Indians in MLB. Why does it seem like we pull two a night?

  6. Do we really need to see the Buckner ground ball again? Come on, channel 4.

  7. back up the truck turn this place into a parking lot

  8. 104: You may have a point as David Wright snares a sure double from Cameron.

  9. I don’t think George Brett could have caught that!

  10. Since I can’t decide between “Crushin’ Russian” (which sounds better) and “Mashin’ Macedonian” (which is accurate) I’ve come up with my own nickname for Kouzmanoff… “Klank”

  11. The luck is eluding us I see. I go to my future in-laws for dinner and you guys can’t protect a 5-run lead?

    Seriously, demoralizing as hell.

  12. #111: Put the fork down and step away from the in-laws!!! We always get behind when you do that!

  13. 111: It’s every Thursday nite, I have little control over it.

  14. Do you like our two best starting pitchers against the Mets two (Hernandez & Glavine/Ollie Perez ) v (Young & Peavy) best starters ? Do you see guys like Schoenweis or Feliciano as unbeatable ? TI wouldn’t necessarily be shaking in my boots if the Pads faced the Mets in the Postseason in a short series.

This series could have gone either way – it was an electrifying series – I think that the Pads match up pretty good against the Mets and showed well.

  15. Khalil clutches up again. My God he’s been ON FIRE!

  16. Hopefully KG can score to tie this up.

  17. Sledge, please do something right for a change.

  18. RTF on!!

  19. I thought Sledge wasn’t supposed to be able to hit lefties…

  20. 119: I think Terrmel just put his bat out and hoped for the best.

  21. “For Those About To Rock…We Salute You!”

  22. The f’ing Padres are trying to give me a heart attack. Unreal. At least we didn’t give up tonite. Trevor, please, GOD, close it out quickly.

  23. I’d feel much better if we scored about 6 right now….

  24. Don’t forget how bad Trevor’s been…. ERA over 10 in the last two weeks.

  25. Phantom, see what happens when you stay away from in-laws! Don’t do that to us for the rest of the season, please.

  26. NOG has a strong AB. C’mon Blum! Don’t suck! Try really hard not to suck!

  27. 125: I’m not sure if they’ll accept that as a valid argument, but it works for me…

  28. Need ATL to lose tonight to keep them always at a distance. Think wild card race too folks. who the heck cares how they get a precious mlb playoff berth ?

  29. Ugh, c’mon guys!

  30. Is Wagner only hitting 89 and 90 with his fastballs? No wonder he’s getting knocked around.

  31. As Geoff would say, I sure that doesn’t come back to bite us (two on, no out)….

  32. I believe in Hoffman.

  33. As Geoff would say, I sure hope that doesn’t come back to bite us (two on, no out)….

  34. 133: Don’t speak ill thoughts! Trevor can do this! If he’s our true leader, he needs to man up and make it happen tonite.

  35. I have Hell’s Bells playing on my computer as we speak.

  36. Who else thought that was in the gap?

  37. 1 down. C’mon Trevor!

  38. I hope I don’t piss the neighbors off. Ack. Who cares, get ‘em Trevor!

  39. Blown save number 5 on the year…. number 3 in the past two weeks.

  40. Good idea not to pitch to Beltran.

  41. If we can somehow push this to extra innings we got a good chance. We still have Bell.

  42. At what point do we start to wonder about the closer role on this team.. seriously… you can’t keep running an ineffective guy out there with the game on the line.

  43. And Alou is up with bases loaded. Grrrrr.

  44. You could tell it was going to be bad when Trevor was only throwing 82-83. Seems like he’s going through a little dead arm period right now. He’s had awful stretches before and rebounded, hopefully he will do the same coming up.

  45. What a series this has been…

  46. So, has he vested his option? Wow. This BP has got to run out of gasoline sometime, doesn’t it?

  47. I’m looking for someone in the next three Padres hitters to go yard.

  48. Trevor since Aug. 5:

    6 IP, 7 R, 6 ER, 13 H, 9.00 ERA

    and… here’s the kicker…. opponents are hitting .419
Are you kidding me? Just a shade under 5 bills?
    I dunno guys…

  49. 148: That’s pretty gruesome. Damn, I was hoping Bradley was gonna leg that out.

  50. Why is our best hitter bunting?
