Cool, the technical problems are fixed. Lets hope the bullpen holds up. They must free really bad about last night in particular, but sheet happens. Win the series, Padres.
Cedric (The Great) 0-for-3 so far tonight … http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=g_box&gid=2007_04_26_ftwafx_wisafx_1 … now batting below .300 … just fyi …
Josh Geer going for AA San Antonio tonight … http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=g_box&gid=2007_04_26_friaax_sanaax_1 … in case you want to follow along there also …
Good way to start off a game!!!
if you aren’t ready for the start of the Padres on the road..it’s very easy to miss NOG’s at bats
A-Gon! That is nice.
I’ll take that!!! Way to go Adriaaaan!
El Hombre!
Chris Young retires Chris Young.
Nice to see Adrian get us going early. No better way to pick the team up from last nite than that.
El Hombre!
After 1st …
Pitches-strikes – C Young 12-7; L Hernandez 20-10.
Ground balls-fly balls – C Young 2-1; L Hernandez 2-0.
Batters faced – C Young 3; L Hernandez 6.
We need to slam them with runs and avoid a repeat of last night.
Re: “Chris Young retires Chris Young.”
It really would’ve been wierd in the 70’s if they said “Rollie Fingers retires Rollie Fingers.”
Did KK get good wood on that ball?
Hey guys
just clicked on the score before I go to bed . . . Adrian with another jack! That is sweet!
KK squared up on that ball nicely.
Man I really hate the Dbacks broadcast
2 – Nice outing by Nate Culp tonight for Ft. Wayne … 8 IP 4 H 0 ER 1 BB 7 Ks … 1.46 ERA on the season … Nate was 2006 4th round pick out of U of Mo …
#14: What Phantom said. Nice pass by Kouz. Did a good job staying back on the pitch. Didn’t lunge.
Can you imagine “Hells Bells” on an organ when Trevor comes to the mound?
3 … Tim Brown with HR #5 for AA San Antonio … dude’s a power hitter (I saw him hit one during spring training that was mamoth) … Josh Geer tonight? Not so good …
Where did he NOT go on that?!
Anyone else experiencing some spotty ass service tonite from MLB.TV? My stupid feed will just shut down the player for no reason.
Tony Clark is a large man.
AAA Beavers taking advantage of true-babyBack’s errors down the road in Tucson tonight … http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=g_box&gid=2007_04_26_poraaa_tucaaa_1 … up 4-0 after 1st …
How long till Drew is a free agent? I’m ready for him to leave the division now.
23 … if you go to mlb.com and watch the video reply of Montero’s HR last night, you can see what looks to be Tony Clark patting Montero on the head after he crosses home plate … and you can see that, indeed, Tony Clark is a *large man*!
Isn’t CY supposed to not give up runs.
Someone should thank Quentin for swinging at ball four there. Hopefully CY makes him pay for that.
Have we thrown anyone out all year?
Uh-oh, this is getting ugly.
29 … do you OF assist? Funny you should ask … while I was over at mlb.com, I checked to see if they fixed the video of Cruz throwing Helton out at the plate a coupla days ago … and they have … you can see it at this link … http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/multimedia/tp_archive.jsp?c_id=sd&ym=200704 … under April 21st …
This is not good.
Good thing we only used two relievers last night.
Bowen really doesn’t impress me much as a catcher.
CY’s got nothing tonite.
He just does not look a bit as dominating as he was all last year.
This start reminds me of Hensley’s home start against the Giants.
31: Sorry, should have been more clear. I meant: have we thrown out anyone trying to steal 2nd base this year?
All things considered, CY was fortunate to escape with only three runs against him.
Why is it that two of our guys who looked so great last year (Hensley and Young) have struggled so mightily this year? Ideas?
Phantom,
I was experiencing terrible service last night, didn’t see any of Peavy’s Ks.
I’m watching on DirecTV tonight though.
Thru 2 full …
Pitches-strikes – C Young 46-27; L Hernandez 29-16.
Ground balls-fly balls – C Young 2-3; L Hernandez 3-2.
Batters faced – C Young 10; L Hernandez 9.
… edge: D-backs
Our last run to score was the 100th for the season.
Whoa, Khalil actually called that one
CY looks a lot better this inning. Credit him with weathering a rough patch and not letting it get out of hand in the 2nd.
Thru 3 full …
Pitches-strikes – C Young 59-36; L Hernandez 39-22.
Ground balls-fly balls – C Young 2-5; L Hernandez 6-2.
Batters faced – C Young 13; L Hernandez 13.
… 2 outta 3 ain’t bad?
I’m so glad that we have decided to let Livan settle in. This guy couldn’t find the plate, and now we are swinging at everything.
Yeah, the offense has suddenly grown very cold. Hopefully KG can keep his hititng streak alive later and that some of the boys heat up.
Time to start thinking about the bullpen?
It seems like Tony Clark is always hitting homeruns against us. Not a bad pitch either.
48: I was going to say no but that last pitch was a meatball. CY has been talking to himself tonight, he doesn’t usually do that.
We are not looking sharp tonite at all.
50: He’s been pacing the backside of the mound as well.
God we have to start hitting. CY is not going to help us out tonite.
The WPs are a bad indicator … bully up!
CY again lucky to get off so easily that inning.
The Storm also off to a good start tonight … http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=g_box&gid=2007_04_26_lesafa_modafa_1 … up 4-0 after 1 … big hit: a 2-run single by Matt Bush …
We really gotta get the bats rolling. We need this game to have some momentum going into the series this weekend.
That, and the Dodgers are already up 2-0.
Anthony … what you’ve done with the GD data for Buerle’s no-no is a BLAST to look at … http://www.friarwatch.com/2007/04/25/mark-buehrles-no-hitter/ … THANKS!
55: Lucky indeed. Chase Field is not kind to a flyball pitcher with control problems. It could be a lot worse.
Is he really going to let CY hit?
59: Thanks! I was actually expecting it to show a big strike zone for Buehrle. Impressive that he did it with a fair zone.
Poor Rob, that’s a terrible K call.
60: Is there anyone even up in the pen?
24 … Germano with 5 *very* nice innings so far for Beavers tonight …
Can OG capitalize on this?
65: Nope.
I just am not sensing a whole lot of fight out of the guys tonite. I don’t know why, but I just don’t see the fire.
66 … did he come close? Yahoo says “deep left” …
68: About two feet in front of the wall, easy play for Byrnes.
68: Very catchable.
CY has been good in the odd numbered innings
Bottom of 5th seemed like an “easy inning” …
Pitches-strikes – C Young 88-52; L Hernandez 64-35.
Ground balls-fly balls – C Young 4-9; L Hernandez 9-4.
Batters faced – C Young 21; L Hernandez 21.
71: Maybe we should only play odd numbered innings….
Greeney with the walk. Nice AB Khalil.
Listening to the Storm game. Eric Young Jr. is batting for Modesto. I feel old.
75: You already given up on this contest Geoff?
CY done? Anybody up in pen? If not, should be …
76 … I’ll bet not … he’s a multi-tasker
Maybe you had the right idea after all.
Watching the Pads on Channel 4, listening to the Storm via Internet with headphones on.
Brocail up in the ‘pen. Maybe a little late for that?
Brocail is up.
81: Yeah, what’s the point of carrying 12 pitchers if you have a slow hook? That’s really been Black’s only negative this year, he leaves starters in too long.
77 … any time now …
83 … ‘cept for last night, I s’pose …
85: Only if they’re getting hit. If they’re doing well he letss them go
Kyle Blanks just stole second. That must’ve been terrifying for the guy covering.
OK, I take 10 min. to walk over to the store to obtain some adult beverages and now it is 6-3? Grrrr.
After 6 mostly-ugly innings …
Pitches-strikes – C Young 105-62; D Brocail 6-3; L Hernandez 81-42.
Ground balls-fly balls – C Young 4-9; D Brocail 1-1; L Hernandez 12-4.
Batters faced – C Young 25; D Brocail 2; L Hernandez 25.
83: Black has stated that he likes to see guys try to get themselves out of jams.
I wouldn’t qualify a man on 1st as a jam, so take that as you will.
Ugly game thus far.
It’s a bad sign when the game is in the seventh inning and you’re reminiscing about the good old days — you know, back in the first inning…
Hampson fits right in; he can’t hold runners either.
Well, that was a drag …
94: You are hereby fired for that pun.
Turn in your badge at the door, sir.
Holy crap! We threw someone out!
Eric Byrnes, interior decorator.
I wonder how much the DBack org will fine Byrnes for that?
Anyone got a rally cap … that works?
97,98 … explain?
Nice situational usage by Melvin. Doesn’t he know that Cheo kills lefties?
Insult to injury. Byrnes gets a dbl hit in his corner.
99 … I guess Cruz has a rally cap!
101 … “Cheo”?
100: You didn’t see the Byrnes tyraid? He went off on the base coach and then threw a tantrum in the dugout.
C’mon boys, only chasing 3…
103: See 4sd.com/blog… Cheo is the nickname for guys named Jose
So much for that rally.
#100: Byrnes got a horrible jump on a stolen base attempt and was thrown out easily at second. As he came off the field, he had words for the third-base coach, slammed his helmet and punched a water cooler or two.
104 … I’m “watching” on yahoo … I’m in Oregon … haven’t the bandwidth &/or $ for mlb.tv …
103 … I s’pose “Cheo” is aka “Jose” … http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheo_Feliciano … as in, in this case, Cruz …
64 … Germano got the W tonight for the Beavers … with 7 nice IP …
Looks like Buddy is saving up middle relievers to go against L.A. this weekend.
Did Matty just say “The bottom of the top of the 9th?’
KG needs a base hit here for his streak.
Damn, another hitting streak dies in Arizona.
At least the Dodgers have let the Giants tie up the game.
Prediction: Blum flies to left.
Geoff “White Flag” Blum is up.
115: There’s no one on first so it won’t be a grounder to 2nd
#115: Dude, you’re scarin’ me.
Does this make me a Swami?
haha
If the Giants win tonite, they take over first place by themselves.
How scary is that?
Ballgame. Seriously weak effort tonight.
Let’s get LA! Keep the faith.
122: Agreed, they looked really legarthic tonite. We needed some fire, and we got beat on.
We are now 12-10. Season runs 101-90.
125 … here’s the BP “Adjusted Standings” … http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/standings.php … looks better than I expected …
126 … and, similarly, a BP Playoff Odds report … http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/ps_odds.php … which seems a long ways away …
