This kid made a lot of Padres hitters schwing and Misch the last time he faced them. Thanks, you’re much too kind; please stop throwing vegetables.

  1. Okay, Dbacks down 3 – top 5. Phils up 3 top 8. . We’re going to need that Philly bullpen to suck things up again…

  2. Phils win… Meyers has a DIRTY breaking ball. We gotta win tonight with Jake on the mound. We cant make this loser pitchers look like Cy Young any more.

  3. 2: Exactly. We need some killer instinct here. We can’t let these nobodies shut us down for 6 innings anymore.

  4. Phils win
Mets down 7-6 in the 8th
    D’backs down 4-1 in the 7th
Cubs down 7-4 in the 9th
Brewers down 3-2 in the 7th
Rox and Padres both about to start

  5. These Bond’s soundbytes are halarious

  6. Ouch. Just realized I get the Giants broadcast of the goodbye to Bonds. This is going to be painful.

They’re playing Bonds highlights and quotes over Enya-like music now.

Now a picture of skinny Bonds speaking with a mustache. Awesome.

  7. 6: Thats exactly what i was talking about. His quotes were cracking me up. I hope Jake just makes a fool of Bonds and the whole team.

  8. That was Giles looking for a walk. He should have ripped that belt high inside breaking ball. left handed hitter’s dream.

  9. #5/6: I’m glad I don’t have to suffer through that. I’m just wondering what AL team will pick him up, if any. He costs too much, and is an old broken down steroid junkie. Or, maybe he should just retire and fade away. God, I hate him!

  10. 9: Agreed. Just go away, leave the game

  11. damn. Winn kills us

  12. BARDO! RBI Double! 1-1!

  13. Way to go Blum! Even hitting right-handed!

  14. Blum rips a double that looked like a homer, but turns out to be another RBI double. 2-1 Pads

  15. Way to go Silent L!!!

  16. Pirates are looking to finish off the D-backs, 5-1 top 9

  17. I haven’t ran the math, but is there a chance to tie Philly for the WC and tie DBs for the NL West?

  18. 19: I would think it would be possible

  19. Pirates win! Padres can really take care of business with a win tonight

  20. What if there’s a massive 5 way tie between the Mets/Phillies/D’backs/Rox and Padres?

They’d have to add three extra days before the playoffs just to get it all in.

  21. David Pinto at the baseballmusings blog plans out massive tie scenarios every day. He’s excited about a possible six way tie between the D-Backs, Rockies, Padres, Mets, Phillies, and Braves. Not sure if the Braves’ loss to the Phillies messes that up.

  22. I’d love for Greeney to develop a little speed, I mean like Reyes or anything, but that easily could had been an infield single.

  23. if the D-Backs, Rockies, Phills and Pads all tie, how do you even break that?

  24. Things that make you go…hmmmm?

  25. 25 – I imagine two teams would play and the other two teams would play, and the next day the winners would play.

Probably the two NL West teams with the best head to head records would play for the division and the other team would play the Phils first.

    Just guessing though.

  26. Here’s Pinto’s massive tie break scenario from this morning.

  27. GY would know this, but he’s MIA and not answering his cell phone.

  28. 27: But there are 3 NL West teams…

  29. Blum looks ok at the plate vs the left tonight.

  30. 27: My guess would be they settle the division before the Phillies come into play at all. That would involve two teams playing, then the winner playing the third team. The winner of that game would be the division winner, and the loser of it would go to play the Phillies. Just a guess, though.

  31. 32: Since AZ and COL both have the season series on us, I am guessing they play for the division… Dont AZ and COL play each other over the weekend?

  32. Jake isnt getting the corners at all tonight

  33. Jake’s doing his pitch to contact thing tonight. No k’s, no bb’s, 9 ground outs against 3 fly outs.

  34. 33: They only use head to head tiebreakers if both teams make the playoffs. If it’s a tie for one playoff spot, they play a game.

  35. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO – no Jake on the bases! He’s throwing too well tonight. We need him at his best! CRAP!

  36. Right on Jake/OG!!!!!!

  37. 36: Ya but whoever holds the better H2H records would be the 3rd team in your situation (#32). that would be my guess. Or else how do you decide who plays just the one game for the division?

  38. 37: Well then he needs to come around and score before we get 3 outs so Jake has time to recoup.

  39. There we go, now Jake has time to settle down.

  40. 36 – you’re probably right.

  41. I pose this question to the audience… if we get a good sized lead, like say 4 or 5 runs, do you yank Jake after 80 pitches or something, trying to save him for the last game of the year if needed.

If we lean on him less tonight, he’ll be more fresh for the last game…

Or do you step on the Giants’ throats and let Jake throw 110?

  42. GREENEY! There ya go. 5-1 Pads

  43. More good examples of why Bonds in left next year isn’t the greatest idea.

  44. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy… a double E for Barry, and this time they’re not attached to some dancer he met…

  45. 43: I dont think 4 or 5 runs is enough. i dont trust our pen that much. Then again, Jake could get through 6 on 85 pitches so i wouldnt be opposed to pulling him then. i say you get him through 6. The pen can hold it for 3 innings.

I dont think Bud will pull him early though, he is pitching too well.

  46. The 6 way tie would be between the Padres, Rockies and D-backs in the NL West and the Phillies, Mets and Braves in the NL East. Then there would be two days of playoffs for the division crowns and two days for the wild card winner. However, I think with the Braves loss to the Phillies tonight there can’t be a three way tie in the East.

  47. All right, let’s get Jake through the next inning so he gets the win, then pull him to keep him fresh.

  48. I asked my wife to turn her bra inside out to rally for a huge win. She said we were big enough fans buying a T. Gwynn brick. LOL!
