Went and watched Rush Hour 3 on Saturday. Wait till it comes out on cable. As Morrissey says, “that joke isn’t funny anymore.”
On another note, the Padres have played 116 games this year. For reference, here are their best records at this point in the season throughout history:
- 1998: 75-41
- 1984: 69-47
- 1992: 64-52
- 1982: 62-54
1985: 62-54
2004: 62-54
2007: 62-54
We’re still in good shape here, folks. Let’s take the series…
99: If Blum keeps hitting I guess we cant really argue the move to keep him in the line-up.
Blum is fine with me if the alternative is Marcus Giles at this point.
Good work by Bell again. Bell has a strong argument for team MVP.
KG loves the GAB.
I guess Guardado settles the debate for Bard whether he should hit left or right by being left-handed.
You realize how lucky you are as a Pads fan when you hear the Reds announcers spending 10 minutes to talk about the future’s of Mike Stanton and Eddie Guard. and how they fit into the 2008 Reds bullpen.
Our offense sucks.
Yes!!!!! We get to see OG again!
Big 2 run double for Bardo. That ought to dampen the hopes of a 9th inning comeback today.
Ooh, maybe we’ll get to watch Sledge try for hi first hit off of a lefty this year!
11 (!!!) extra base hits by the Padres today.
First hit off of a lefty for Sledge this year!
12 extra base hits!
Terrmel Sledge is now 1-for-22 against LHP this year.
Crudge!!!!!!
[Are we still saying 'Crudge'? No? Crap. I miss saying 'Crudge' ]
Hahaha….these Reds announcers are getting a little heated in this conversation.
I’m excited about this game. Peavy deserves to win a game despite giving up 4 runs. I’d like to see the team do this for CY once or twice too…
Thatcher has a funky delivery. Also, Ensberg has made a few nice plays at third today.
Ballgame. Good series. Time to grill some salmon…
Washington rallies for four in the eighth and two to beat the D-Backs 7-6, and we pick up a game.
Expect more blown saves from Valverde down the stretch.
The future looks bright. AA San Antonio probably has 4 or 5 guys that will play in San Diego by 2009. It is so nice to see a player (pitcher) in the Padres system, William Inman, that is only 20 years old and having no problem at the AA level, having a good start each of his first 3 starts in the Padres org. For that matter, Inman, Garrisson and Thatcher all look good in their first two weeks. Headley, Huffman, Antonelli seem to be sure things to get to this level and contribute – Morton (if this guy gets better, watch out !) , Venable (after seeing him play live, I must say I wasn’t that impressed with William – he has an awfully long swing for such low power numbers) Josh Geer (same approach as Maddux/Germano) and Le Blanc seem to have a decent chance as well.
119: I couldn’t agree more. I can’t remember being this excited about our farm system. Antonelli, in particular, is looking about as close to a sure thing as you can get.
118: Have to agree with that, too. Valverde just isn’t that good.
Hey Now! That’s more like it. Nice work today everyone. Wait to pick me up.
Sorry if I had an off day yesterday.
GY, please hold the grilling comments until I get back Stateside. The idea of grilling salmon, outside, in SD, after a Padres win, with a nice bottle of one’s beverage of choice on hand is pure torture after sitting here in the desert for the past 9 months and with 3 still to go.
