Game #116 time:12:55 p.m. PT tv:none sp:Justin Germano (6-6, 4.30) vs Bobby Livingston (2-2, 4.46) pre:Padres.com, SI.com, B-R.com Here's an exercise for those who would jump off the Padres bandwagon during times of adversity (and for anyone else who might be curious). Which of the following describes San Diego's last 10 games, and which describes the Diamondbacks' last 10 games? Team A Runs scored: 12, 11, 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 3, 1, 0 (50 tot, 5.0/game) Runs allowed: 10, 9, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 2, 0, 0 (42 tot, 4.2/game) Team B Runs scored: 11, 10, 9, 8, 4, 4, 3, 3, 1, 0 (53 tot, 5.3/game) Runs allowed: 11, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, ...

Game #110 time:1:05 p.m. PT tv:4SD sp:Justin Germano (6-6, 4.38) vs Noah Lowry (12-7, 3.32) pre:Padres.com, SI.com Barry Bonds hit home run #755 off Clay Hensley on Saturday night in support of San Francisco's 3-2 loss to the Padres. I used to defend Bonds back in the day; now I just don't really care. It's a shame that Bonds felt the need to taint his already brilliant legacy, but it's hard to argue with his success. More relevant to you and me, the Padres have taken a home series and are in position to sweep the increasingly irrelevant Giants. Speaking of which, you know who's an impressive story for the orange and black? Sunday's pitcher, Noah ...

Game #100 time:12:05 p.m. PT tv:none sp:Justin Germano vs Aaron Cook You really do not see a lot of guys with Aaron Cook's abysmal strikeout rates stick around in the big leagues these days. It's a credit to Cook that he's able to make it work, but kids, don't try this at home. Unless your name is Justin Germano, and even then...

Game #95 time:7:05 p.m. PT tv:4SD sp:Justin Germano (6-3, 3.55) vs Adam Eaton (8-6, 5.98) pre:Padres.com, SI.com Adam Eaton returns to San Diego for his first start against the old uniform. Once a perpetual breakout candidate, Eaton has enjoyed very little success since leaving the Padres in January 2006. Admittedly, he has called two bandboxes home, but even beyond the gopheritis he's developed, his walks are up and his strikeouts are down -- always a dangerous combination. Fortunately for Eaton, he's got better than $16 million guaranteed coming his way over the next two years. Back on the field, left-handed batters are completely terrorizing Eaton ...

Game #90 time:1:40 p.m. PT tv:4SD sp:Justin Germano (5-3, 3.90) vs Brandon Webb (8-6, 3.37) pre:Padres.com, SI.com Brandon Webb's GB/FB ratio is down a bit this year (3.18). That's still extremely good, but it's not as freakish as it was in '05 (4.34) or '06 (4.06). Webb is no less effective now than he has been the past couple seasons, so this downward trend might not mean anything. Then again, it might...

Game #85 time:7:05 p.m. PT tv:4SD sp:Justin Germano (5-2, 3.12) vs Buddy Carlyle (2-2, 4.74) pre:Padres.com, SI.com The last time Buddy Carlyle started a game in San Diego, it was at Qualcomm Stadium and he wore a Padres uniform. Since leaving here, Carlyle has spent time pitching in Hanshin, Japan; Wichita; Omaha; Trenton, N.J.; Columbus, Ohio; Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Albuquerque; Richmond, Va.; and now, finally, Atlanta. Did I mention that Carlyle is just 29 years old? I liked him when the Padres acquired him from Cincinnati for flame-throwing ...
