This is exactly why I didn’t want the Padres to recall Rodriguez — as the starters in the infield are pretty set and don’t need many days off – he’s going to be used mostly as a pinch-hitter. Unfortunately he can’t hit so it’s just throwing away an out. Why carry an offensive player (especially when you only have 5 bench players) that can’t hit? For that inning or two when you need a defensive replacement?
All hopes now lay in beating Kevin Gregg for the win. Definitely doable. Right? Right!

Hmmmm. You the FO has got to look at all aspects of hitting at petco. The lighting, batters eye, hieght of the mound, wind direction, there has to be a reason Padres hitters are so bad and ordinary pitchers are so good at petco.
Some enterprising young grad student in physics ought to make a PhD out of it. Sandy should hire an expert to study it, serious.
