Quick observations from Saturday’s win:
- I don’t enjoy watching Cha Seung Baek pitch. He nibbles a little too much for my taste.
- Where the heck was Justin Huber throwing the ball?
- I’m glad Michael Barrett finally did something useful. We’ve been waiting a long time for that.
- Raul Casanova plays for the Mets? As in, the guy the Padres once acquired from the Mets for Tony Fernandez?
Jake Peavy threw 61 pitches in a simulated game and is scheduled to start against the Dodgers on Thursday… But first, the Padres look to sweep New York on Sunday…
You think Baek is frustrating to watch. Try watching Ledezma who is a slow worker with no control.
Iguchi being out cost us multiple runs this inning.
Leave it to Ledezma to help the Mets get out of their funk.
Jody has shown some inspiration as of late.
Whoa! What happened? I blinked and we’re down by 3…
Hey that ball went through Edgar legs (postponing the inevitable base-running gaff unfortunatly…) w/o getting kicked.
Thats not so far upon reflection, nice throw from right field. Unlucky!
Ehhh, far=fair, typo’s already. Haven’t ever cracked the first libation.
Looks like Pedro is hittable today, lets hope for good offensive production and smart baserunning to climb back into this one.
#5@130tom330: C’mon Tom, you knew we were starting Ledezma today. Lets hope we win 9-8 and with Peavy coming back we don’t have to see Ledezma ever again.
Kouz is working on his OBP, the hard way.
#8@JP: Won’t he be sent back to his #5 spot in the rotation? Nah, thats gotta be Banks…
Balk, thats smart base running! Anybody else think we oughta be putting a few baseballs into Mets ribs? Thats 4 hit batsmen in 15 hours, we gotta be protecting our guys.
Sweet, right back in it. 9-8 is looking good JP!
BTW, Ducksnort!
OK this game has taken a wierd twist.
Man, Ledezma really is slooooooooooowwwww.
Carlin and Huber must have attended the same “clutch throwing” school. Don’t expect that from the young gun.
Another stellar throw! C’mon guys we gotta make better tosses to the bags/dish.
We gonna spot ‘em 3 this inning as well?
#11@Turbine Dude: Okay thats 6 of 13 posts, I’m hitting nearly .500. Maybe I need to STFU!
“If you can say something nice, say nothing at all.”
#14@130tom330: Tom, I’m entertaining company for the game today. Kind of hard to post. However, I’m passing my laptop around so they can read your posts.
That was bush league.
Well, it wouldn’t be an inning complete without a Ledezma free pass.
Ledezma has thrown 65 pitches through 3 innings.
#16@Turbine Dude: Damm, missed it. What was bush league? Can’t walk away from this exciting stuff for a minute (or 1.5 Ledezma pitches). Somebody, anybody fill me in…
Wow, Ledezma is a freakin pain in the butt to watch. He works sooo slow and he never throws strikes. An average Ledezma inning must last at least 15 minutes. I want to see him out of here when Peavy comes back and he should never be allowed to wear a Padre uniform again!!!
Can of Corn! F-ing hilarious. What should they show to represent a DuckSnort? I eagerly await your imaginative replies.
GY maybe a short essay response competition?
Got ourselves a slooooooowwwww, steady, leak in the form of W-Lead today. Anybody got the number for Rescue Rooter to stop this before the pipes let go? There’s got to be an emergency access number to the dugout phone… Buddy or Darren should be handy with a wrench, pun intended, by now.
#21@130tom330: Tom, that’s a true story. As far as the ducksnort thing goes, that to me is when a shot is hit out on the ground and the defender is chasing after it like a duck snorting for food.
Those 4 walks given by Danger is really killing him. Yeah, the hits too but the walks….(shake head).
Pedro is hittable. Come one Padres, beat him.
#23@Turbine Dude: Like that? Huber pinch hit, Clark probably woulda hit into a double play there…
#25@130tom330: Jody just got us within a run. I like that.
#25@130tom330: Thought that was a ducksnort there, a soft “bloop” liner that drops between the infielder and the outfielder. If it’s sharply hit to the outfielderon one hop it’s a Texas Leaguer.
Bloop, bloop, almost a blast… Gilly why do you tease us so?
With Jake coming back on Thursday, is Will headed back to the bullpen?
#28@Field39: Based on the popular perception on DS today it seems like people are hoping he headed outta town. IMHO I hope he’s headed to the pen, he can certainly slow down the pace of the game, if nothing else.
29: Somebody has got to be the least used 12th pitcher on the pen, it might as well be Danger.
Did a little research and found this juicy tidbit.

Cannot verify its accuracy but it is pretty funny (and the rest of this article seems credible…
Duck Snort: Softly hit ball that goes over the infielder and lands in the outfield for a hit. This one, believe it or not, comes from a duck passing gas. It was assumed that a duck’s feathers would make its flatulence as soft (or quiet) as the hit.
learn something new every day.
#30@Didi: thought that was Merideth gig
#28@Field39: Better be.
Is anyone suprised by Greene’s performance there?
#27@130tom330: et tu Spicoli, again with the tease.
OMG NOT Meredith!!!!!!!!!
#36@Turbine Dude: Speak of the Devil! Wasn’t sure he was still hangin’ around. Should be well rested…
It is always best, to walk the first batter you face.
“i know a guy who could do a rubic’s cube between pitches today.” Nice one Matty, LOL
Rare E on Gonzalez. Save you ticket stubs, that doesn’t happen often.
A bunt base hit, for an RBI single…. Game, set, match
Guacamole has a 9.0 ERA! WTF? Why is he in there?
ahh…too bad Hairston came to bat in the 8th there. If that was the 9th im sure he would’ve hit a home run.
Tony Tony Tony
woooooo Clark!!! it’s about time!
My G-d! I had ZERO faith that Clark would do anything valueable there. Guess thats one way to solve the pinch runner for Clark issue. i’ll order up some crow to wash down that next beer.
Tony, Tony, Tony has done it again, and it feels good.
ballgame … sweep!!!
How sweep it is.
Another win! Awesome comeback, and this home run alone probably makes the Clark acquisition worth it.
