IGD: Padres @ Mets (22 Aug 07)

Game #125
time: 4:10 p.m. PT
tv: 4SD
sp: Jake Peavy (13-5, 2.19) vs Brian Lawrence (1-0, 5.06)
pre: Padres.com, SI.com, B-R.com

It’s great to see ex-Padre Brian Lawrence back in the big leagues. B-Law did some nice work here back toward the end of the pre-Petco dark ages. I wish him well, but on Wednesday night, I hope our guys beat the snot out of him.

Go Padres!

First! I think that is a Football Outsider phenomenon. OT, they rank Norv Turner & co 29th of 30 teams in coaching quality.

We actually had a nice night at the plate yesterday. Some bad luck and bad baserunning/unfortunate outcome to a hit and run, otherwise we win, even with Heath and Trevor being mortal. I hope they are professionals, get back to work and gets some good at bats.

Good pitch recognition + patience/willingness to hit with 2 strikes –> solid at-bats –> walks, good swings —> good chance for runs.

The baseball gods have decided a lot of our line drives find gloves; I hope they take last night’s loss and our collective pain and disappointment as some sort of sacrifice, so we get some breaks.

this is good. after yesterday’s loss (caused by Trevor’s having a bad inning, which is fairly rare) which was made more likely by a lack of timely hitting, to see the boys swinging the bats well for a second night in a row is quite reassuring. we’re gonna need the offense in Philly’s bandbox of a ballpark.

    most excellent, Bill my friend.
