San Diego has some interest in Daisuke Matsuzaka, but most likely it will focus on Japanese third baseman Akinori Iwamura.

I suspect that the posting fee for Matsuzaka is not going to fit in the Padres’ budget. Teams besides SD who reportedly have interest include the Angels, Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Rangers, Dodgers, and Mariners. Yankees, Mets and Sox at a minimum could throw a ton of money out there. It could be interesting to see how Boras balances offering Zito and Matsuzaka. And I’ll really be interested to see if Kaz Saito is posted, too.
