Did you know that Miguel Ojeda is the Rockies’ backup catcher? And Wiki Gonzalez plays for the Nationals? Gary Bennett is in St. Louis. Ben Davis and Wil Nieves are in the Yankees system. Mike Rivera is with the Brewers.
Geez, I think we’ve hit a new low here. TGIF.
2nd to last rally time.
I like EY. Bochy will never play the kids anyway. That’s probably a discussion for another time.
Geoff, for some reason Padre hitters decide to not work the count in their 3rd at bats.. I think they just like to put it in play to the infielders hoping they make errors, but they don’t. so whoops.
EY is lousy. If he insists on playing a guy who isn’t young, go with Sledge.
Bochy will eventually be made to play the kids Clyde.. or lose his job.
I’d play Sledge over DR when Cameron gets back, actually.
The chicks dig the purple glove, right Jose Mesa?
Wow, Fogg and Mesa. I’d think you could put up about 12 runs on these palookas.
Joe Table. That still makes me laugh. hehe.
darn.. Khalil Greene, Rockie Killer, will have to show up tomorrow night.
Khalil has hit a couple of balls real hard tonight. Unfortunately one was foul and one was right at Helton.
Also, I’m really looking forward to seeing Cameron in center. That ball Sullivan hit to lead off the 9th should have been caught.
Alright.. I’m ruling out a Padre comeback.. but if I wake up and realize they won, I’ll be ecstatic. .. I could make some cruel comments now but I’ll refrain.. I gotta be up by 7ET, 4PT.. peace guys.. and I really hope that
— PLEASE DO NOT HIT Sledge (Mr. 4th OFer) or Young (Mr. Utility guy) second.
— yea Geoff I agree.. Cameron will make a big difference when he’s here especially with his defense, which I think we all know we need over an Eric Young- Dave Roberts 2/3 of outfield.
— this offense looked lazy after the 3rd inning, they thought 4 might be enough but it obviously is not.. these guys gotta try and score more.. there were some chances.
— Brazeltons’ start should be interesting
— Maybe we’ll see Trevor Time tomorrow.
“PLEASE DO NOT HIT Sledge (Mr. 4th OFer) or Young (Mr. Utility guy) second.”
Sledge is most likely the third best OFer on the team.
“Sledge is most likely the third best OFer on the team.”
We talking with or without Cameron. Young just looks lost sometimes in the outfield.
I know this might, or never will, happen because of some quirky management but EY needs to go either via trade or release because all he’s doing is stunting Ben Johnson/Tremmel Sledge’s growth.
Was at the game last night. My first look at the ’06 Padres other than about a half dozen PAs on TV earlier this week.
Said before that if the over/under for the year is 80, I’d take the under. Now I’m thinking I’ll take the under if the line is 75. I left the park trying to cling to a few scraps… Piazza, AGon, Greene hit a few balls hard to little effect, C Young, Chan Ho, and Embree at least had moments. Then there was comedy… Ray King’s PA against Embree.
But there was a ton of ugliness… weak PAs, struggling against Fogg, Dejean, & Mesa to hit anything out of the infield, pitching that shrunk the Petco fences to beer league distances, bad outfield defense (despite the one nice DR diving grab), bad lineup, worse in-game management. And, for all the talk about Castilla’s great glove, any player with only mediocre speed should consider dropping a bunt down his way.
OK, I got that out. All will be healed when they win tonight. Go Padres!
