Did you know that Miguel Ojeda is the Rockies’ backup catcher? And Wiki Gonzalez plays for the Nationals? Gary Bennett is in St. Louis. Ben Davis and Wil Nieves are in the Yankees system. Mike Rivera is with the Brewers.
Geez, I think we’ve hit a new low here. TGIF.

1. Didn’t the Padres try to sign Fogg this offseason
2. Why does Boch insist the LF-er hit 2nd so far.
3. I’m suggesting Barfield hit 2nd, he did it a few times in spring training (* until Cameron comes back)
4. Gagne had surgery for a nerve in his elbow (effecting his forearm).. will be out at least 2 months
5. Klesko is rumored to be leaning toward surgery which would take 2-3 months out of his year.
Boch just said Woody Williams is his next starter.. we will see if Woody can EARN a starting job.
I’m on MLB.tv and getting the Ch4 SD broadcast without muted mics.. it’s classic. Matt and Mark are a funny team.
My guess is that Boch doesn’t want to disrupt the rest of the lineup every day or so.
Just when I was going to compliment Young on his fine first inning.
Yeah he did throw well in the first.. in the second, uhhh not so much. is it me or is Young just throwing fastballs (yeah he’s mixed in a few curves but he’s hanging a lot of his stuff)
Well, he just made up for it. That ball was crushed.
help himself out…
by the way, I’d never want to post up against Chris Young.
he can swing it a little.. wasn’t that his first ML hit? RBI double , not bad.
Just to show how much attention Fogg is paying to Roberts I’ll show the mlb gameday

Clyde just picked up MLB.TV. Seems to be a good value. Watching Chris Young run is pretty comical—but this is coming from a tiny fellow.
On a graver note, Why has Greene seemingly become a very feeble hacker?
Greene will get into a groove clyde. I hope your getting the Padres feed on mlb.tv
I am indeed. I’m just worried about Greene’s seemingly eroding plate discipline. He has a very solid game otherwise.
Young looks decent so far.
his plate discipline eroded down the stretch but he still slugged well (Washington GRand slam for one) … but I’ve said this before.. Greene has to draw a walk rate similar to his rookie year if he’s going to take the next step.. his walks regressed last year and those walks will boost up his obp and eventually lead to more power. Jamesian predictions and Baseball prospectus say greene will hit the 20+ homer category: I agree he will but I’m not sure it will be this year.
Did you see Gonzalez turn on that inside pitch? He’s got a little more power than I expected. Too bad it was foul.
That was an impressive blast by A-Go, but lest we forget, You spell Josh Fogg with R-E-P-L-A-C-E-M-E-N-T L-E-V-E-L.
Still, nice to see. Part of me wants to see Gonzalez Pipp Klesko. I’ve had a difficult “relationsionship” with Klesko as a Padres fan. When, the Pads first acquired him, I hated him, grew to grudingly like him, and now I wish they find a way to ship him off. Poor guy.
Young used the change.. has struck out 6.. nice.
Gonzalez has some pop.. I think the Padres will let him play to his potential Geoff. Some projected him as a Doug Mientkiewicz type (I believe that’s spelled right) but I think he’s going to hit for some more pop.
I think an informal poll would show we all want Gonzalez over Klesko.
Only if he’s going to hit close to as well as Klesko.
Was Giles out there? the tag looked a little high.
Looked out on my tv….
k well I’m on mlb.tv on my bad school server so it looked like the tag was made a little high.
quick hook?
Damn, Hensley doesn’t have it tonight.
I still think that was a quick hook for Chris Young. at the first sight of real trouble, Boch pulls him. the wheels could come off here but Clay’s gotta locate better.
Clay hung pitches, don’t shame the Padre fans Matt. c’mon. anyone who gives up double double single single to open after a great year last year is dissapointing
rally time #1 of 4
Is Bochy iin “crisis management” mode already? Its only April for petesake!
Bochy always makes some weird decisions. I guess he just wanted to get some of them out of his system.. not gonna lie, I would have let Young try and finish six so I can get it to Hensley-Linebrink Hoffman.. but that might not have worked out either.
Booing Hensley is weak.
Fogg going longer than Young is weak too
Bochy seems to me to be managing like he might get fired by June if he cant win. The other night he was in Panic mode also.
No way. with that extension last May/June.. Kevin Towers would have to go first before Boch
I don’t see how booing Hensley is weak with the hanging hit me pitches he was throwing. The guy comes in and gives up 5 straight hits and 3 runs deserves to be booed.
I still don’t understand the choice to pinch hit for Roberts here..
do you understand it now?
Ray King is terrible.
They should have sent Terrmel.
I mean..of course you pinch hit for Roberts in this situation…
TAKE on 3-1 YOUNG TAKE!!!!
clyde, they could have sent terrmell but even if he scores you still need a hit to tie it.
Young should have taken on 3-1 and not tried to play hero cause he clearly is not the man when it comes to coming through with the big hit.
Bochy is like a deer in headlights right now. I’m not sure he knows what to do .. but Padre fans.. welcome back Embree!
Young shouldn’t be starting for a Major League team.
“Young should have taken on 3-1 and not tried to play hero cause he clearly is not the man when it comes to coming through with the big hit.”
That’s not because he’s a choker, though. It’s because he’s a crappy hitter.
This has turned into a truly crappy game..
yea richard I agree with you
he shouldn’t be in the lineup..
and IF he is.. he should be hitting 8th.. that’s my whole deal with the why does the LFer have to hit 2nd when he’s not one of the best hitters?
Isn’t Petco supposed to be a pitcher’s park? Why do the Rockies look like the 1927 Yankees?
Ryguy,
I can see your point with Young taking, but he hits lefties at a good clip. Terrmel runs fairly well….I think you risk it.
If we’re going to get into where a guy bats, DR shouldn’t be hitting leadoff.
but young is not a better hitter than giles…
I thought we already agreed Young shouldn’t have been in the lineup.
i agree with you richard
you think ben johnson is getting X-nady-ed? (X-nady-ed v. to be parked on the bench by Bruce Bochy for no good reason except that you’re young talent when he can plop some 37 year old who can’t play the outfield)
We really should’ve gotten to Fogg when we had the chance. On the bright side, Embree’s fastball was running 94-97 mph.
