I’ve got nothing today but links. Enjoy…

Mailbag: On Lineup Construction

We had some good discussion about possible lineups for the 2011 Padres in last week’s open thread. Several suggestions were made regarding specific order, but a few “big picture” comments caught my attention.

Has It Started Yet?

Hey, look, a box score. The Padres lost, 13-12, to the Mariners (those rapscallions!) in 10 innings. Nick Hundley, James Darnell, and Logan Forsythe all homered for San Diego. Starter Tim Stauffer got shelled. Samuel Deduno took the loss.

Open Thread: Spring Forward

After yesterday’s ridiculously long article, we’ll keep it simple today. With spring training upon us, I have three questions for you: Are you planning to attend spring training this year? Have you ever been in the past? If so, do you have any stories to share?

Breakouts, Newcomers, and Off-Season Moves

We had an open thread here on Friday, and I learned a lot. First, I learned that open threads are fun, so we’ll be doing more in the future; they may become a semi-regular feature. Second, I got some insightful answers to the questions I posed…

Me, Elsewhere: How Ducksnorts Got Started, Thoughts on New Media, and More

I’ve done a Q & A about blogging, new media, and what not with online friend Rolin, whom I’ve known on the interwebs for many years. I recognize that this stuff may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but he asked great questions and I think it makes for a cool read, although I’m biased.

Big thanks to Steve for the chat. One item that came up in conversation is whether Nick Hundley can [...]

4H Club, Part 2

Yesterday, we discussed the signings of Aaron Harang and Orlando Hudson. Today, we turn our attention to Brad Hawpe and Jed Hoyer.

Adrian Gonzalez Traded to Boston for Guys You Haven’t Heard of… Yet

Slow news day, eh? Neither team has confirmed this, but sources too numerous to count are reporting that the Padres and Red Sox have agreed to a trade that would send All-Star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez to Boston for right-handed pitcher Casey Kelly, first baseman Anthony Rizzo, center fielder Reymond Fuentes, and a player to [...]

Friday Links (12 Nov 10)

One of the great things about doing crossword puzzles is that you get to use words that you would never, in any other circumstance, get to use. “Oleo” is my favorite. It shows up at least twice a week and usually is accompanied by a clue that reads, “Fridge item that you don’t call by [...]
