Cumberland batting third? That might not be the best way to score runs… After five straight games without a strikeout, Carrasco reverted to his usual ways, fanning three times on Saturday… Carvajal played the final three innings in center field.
It seemed last night that the Beavers pitching staff had a case of gopheritis. And Randy Ready has made two moves in two nights that have baffled me.
Both tonight and last night, he let the pitcher bat when he game up in the inning. Both times late, when I would think it would be in the best interest to PH. Especially tonight, being behind. The next inning, Ready would start the inning off with a new pitcher.
Tonight it was Hayhurst, who has no interested in being at the plate. Both of his at-bats were completely mailed it. It was disappointing to a point. I mean I don’t expect the pitcher to go up hit home runs or get on base a lot but man…it was pathetic (only word I can think of at the moment) really.
Hayhursts first at bat, he missed three straight sac bunt attempts, to move the Headly over and turn over the line up. He barely offered at all three pitches, and would out and out miss them. I’d expect that maybe if it was a American League AAA team and we were using the DH. But this is two national league ball clubs, going at it.
I heard Leblanc is having a lot of trouble with his 2 seam FB which is a new pitch for him. It may explain why his starts have been so poor. They wanted him to throw a fastball with movement since his 4 seamer is fairly straight. Supposedly his delivery is very different for the 2 seamer which makes his change ups more obvious and telegraphed.
#2@SDSUBaseball: Yeah it’s very noticeable, and I’ve noticed a lot of guys wait on that change up and then teeing off on it. Not hard to hit when you know it’s coming..
