#47@JP: Most teams are, if you take away 2 starters with injuries and rest the others. Take 2 starters out of Arizona’s infield, give Jackson a day off, and they’re running Burke, Hammock, and Augie Ojeda out there. Hammock’s 84 is the best career OPS of the trio.

Let’s work the count some in the 5th. Banks saw more pitches than Hairston and Egon combined in the 4th. Misch should be around 90 pitches now and putting Bochy in a tough spot, let him suffer or drain the bullpen more for tomorrow’s game.

The Padres released Rusch and kept Estes … and based on what I saw of both of them, and based on what I heard from friends who saw Rusch more than I did, it doesn’t seem close … ie. Estes seems right now (well, before the broken thumb) to be much, much better than Rusch … not that that makes Estes very good … more an indicator of how bad Rusch is at this time …

I considered Collier at 23, but I like Odorizzi too much to pass on him. Collier would have been the pick if he was off the board. I also love Brett Lawrie, but he was gone.
I was looking at David Cooper in the supplemental round, but he went right in front of me.
Overall though, I think I just liked the arms in this draft a lot more than the bats.

Since a 4-2 loss at home against Colorado on May 9, the Padres have gone 10-10. That not only indicates improvement by a team that suffered a 12-24 start, but it’s also the best record in the National League West in that time.

Adrian has played every game. Greene has missed one. Kouzmanoff has missed one. That has to be a concern over the season.
Josh Banks pitched a compelte game, something Peavy didn’t do last season when he won the Cy Young Award.
Peavy turned 27 today.
Looks like the run Banks gave up was unearned. I didn’t notice that before. So his ERA is 0.00.
