Should we abandon our hope that Young will ever learn to work more efficiently and just accept him for what he is — a flawed, but damn good pitcher?

Man, we have a tough division. Game at a time, and here’s to solving Derek Lowe. ERA against us in 2005: 1.22, in 2006 was 1.83. Got to him in 2007 with a 5.30, but he did pitch well against us so far this year. Damn DePodesta, bringing him over.

Ummm…pop tarts.
April 12, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Leadoff Triple!!! Can’t beat that!!
April 12, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Sounds like there are a lot of Padres fans at the game today too. Nice!
April 12, 2008 at 7:16 pm
What’s up with all the extra base hits?
April 12, 2008 at 7:17 pm
Are Hairston and Gonzalez allowed to go past first base like that after they hit it?
April 12, 2008 at 7:18 pm
7: They changed the rules on that late in yesterday’s game
April 12, 2008 at 7:23 pm
well there went that hard work on one swing
April 12, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Gonzalez, Iguchi and Kouzmanoff are among the top seven in the NL in hits.
April 12, 2008 at 7:25 pm
But none in the top 10 in hitting.
April 12, 2008 at 7:25 pm
That Furcal cat is pretty good
April 12, 2008 at 7:30 pm
CY is one of our best pitchers but is the most frustrating to watch
April 12, 2008 at 7:32 pm
I am not all that happy with edmonds ….. geeessee
April 12, 2008 at 7:32 pm
A DP would be nice here
April 12, 2008 at 7:35 pm
strikeout works too
April 12, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Uggh. CY getting hit hard; JE missing another over the shoulder catch.
April 12, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Tough start for both pitchers. Hopefully CY can work through it like Peavy did and have the offense pick him up.
April 12, 2008 at 7:48 pm
wicked nasty slider there
April 12, 2008 at 8:02 pm
Ethier has been killing CY this year..
April 12, 2008 at 8:08 pm
OK, this is not good.
April 12, 2008 at 8:09 pm
what’s up with our starters
April 12, 2008 at 8:09 pm
GRRRRRRRRRRR…………..
April 12, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Ouch
April 12, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Young’s fastball velocity is down 3 mph from where it usually is. That was a really terrible pitch to DeWitt.
April 12, 2008 at 8:11 pm
You can’t walk Jones and hope anything good will happen
April 12, 2008 at 8:11 pm
I hate the decision to walk Hu. Hu is not a good hitter, and having Lowe instead of Furcal possibly lead off the next inning is a big advantage. Also, Young with his control right now could end up walking Lowe.
April 12, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Perhaps hate was too strong. There is certainly an argument for it. I think it would have been better to go after Hu.
April 12, 2008 at 8:13 pm
oh come on CY
April 12, 2008 at 8:13 pm
CY is not looking good tonight.
April 12, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Or if you pitch to Lowe that could happen.
April 12, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Can they trade Edmonds for Happy Gillmore?
April 12, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Maybe one of our 25 long relievers should pitch in the 4th.
April 12, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Well there goes that game.
April 12, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Pads are getting thier asses kicked.
April 12, 2008 at 8:34 pm
geeze ,, what happened I went to take a shower and looks like the Padres pitching is heading to the shower
April 12, 2008 at 8:36 pm
frrkin how can you walk this guy again ….
April 12, 2008 at 8:42 pm
Not looking good tonight, eh? Oh well, fat lady, singing, etc.
April 12, 2008 at 8:43 pm
I can understand why Ledezma doesn’t like to throw strikes.
April 12, 2008 at 9:33 pm
Come on, guys. It’s only 11 to 1.
April 13, 2008 at 12:04 pm
I hope CY isnt hurt. He was throwing 85-86 yesterday. That makes his straight as an arrow no movement fastball much less deceiving. Lets hope Maddux can twirl 6 or so solid innings.
