Frist! Oh, wait, he’s not speaker anymore. Pelosy! Doesn’t sound right.
Ensberg!!! Now we are talkin. Go Pads! Who should we dis tonight to get them off the schnied?
August 3, 2007 at 7:09 pm
If I caught Bonds next HR, I’d wipe my butt with it and then throw it back. Wash my hands with dissenfectant. Have I mentioned how much I dislike Barry Bonds?
August 3, 2007 at 7:13 pm
Pitch out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 3, 2007 at 7:17 pm
Way to go Greg!!!!! Got him looking!!
August 3, 2007 at 7:34 pm
I think I’m the only one not at the game tonight.
August 3, 2007 at 7:36 pm
5 - there’s two of us…we’ll have to virtually heckle Bonds all by ourselves.
August 3, 2007 at 7:41 pm
Right on Stu!
August 3, 2007 at 7:42 pm
Funny moment just now. Ch. 4 had Weisbarth out in the Pads bullpen reporting on what the relievers want to do with a Bonds home run ball (sell it for Mark Merila’s family, which is a wonderful idea). Meredith, I think it was, started flicking sunflower seeds at the camera. I love baseball hijinks.
August 3, 2007 at 7:44 pm
I saw that. They should have dumped a cooler of Powerade on his head. Now, that would have been good TV!
August 3, 2007 at 7:45 pm
Maddux definately on his game tonight.
August 3, 2007 at 7:46 pm
I spoke a little too soon. But, hey…it’s Dave Roberts.
August 3, 2007 at 7:48 pm
Matty just said that Robert’s rookie year was 1999. Ummm…don’t think so.
August 3, 2007 at 7:50 pm
i had to look this up, but:
http://www.baseball-reference......da07.shtml
he didn’t get to the bigs until he was 27! i had forgotten that, assuming i ever knew it in the first place.
August 3, 2007 at 7:54 pm
Right into the shift. Sweet. I smell an 0-for-4 coming for Bonds.
Now let’s get Air Joyner up and running and score some.
August 3, 2007 at 7:54 pm
13: Thanks Stu. But holy crap Batman! He was born in ‘72! I thought he was in his mid 40’s. The guy looks OLD for 35.
August 3, 2007 at 7:58 pm
Nice bunt by Maddux. Textbook style.
August 3, 2007 at 7:59 pm
yeah Doc’s definitely up there with Otis Nixon and a few other guys who are, um, weathered.
It’s actually a credit to Roberts - he worked hard for a long time to get to the bigs, and worked hard ot stay there and get better.
Textbook bunt by Maddux, indeed.
August 3, 2007 at 8:06 pm
5-4-3…Nice.
August 3, 2007 at 8:06 pm
For someone who can’t hit, Molina is killing us….and the double play makes it all good!
A 4-pitch fourth too - huge for efficiency.
August 3, 2007 at 8:09 pm
OT Funny: My wife is Filipina and frequently watches the games with me. The other night, a batter skyed a ball and she shouts at the TV ‘Corn on the cob!’ I damn near fell off the sofa laughing.
August 3, 2007 at 8:18 pm
20 - outstanding!
August 3, 2007 at 8:22 pm
Maddux is making this seem pretty routine. Well balled.
OK, did I just hear “Leash”, by Pearl Jam, played on the cut-to-commercial fadeout?
August 3, 2007 at 8:26 pm
22 - my bad, it was “Blood”, not “Leash”, and apparently no one else heard it
August 3, 2007 at 8:35 pm
Got him swinging!!!!!!!!!
August 3, 2007 at 8:36 pm
What?!!!!!!! That was a fan!!!
August 3, 2007 at 8:37 pm
What happened to Jenga?
August 3, 2007 at 8:37 pm
Denied!!!!!!!!!
August 3, 2007 at 8:48 pm
OK, Boch, we need a few hits, so do us a favor and pull Cain here.
August 3, 2007 at 8:51 pm
this is ridiculous - Molina is looking like Gwynn here, and I don’t mean in size & shape.
August 3, 2007 at 8:51 pm
Corn on the cob, Stu!
August 3, 2007 at 8:54 pm
Anyone else but Molina scores on that hit. OK, anyone else but Molina and maybe Adrian.
August 3, 2007 at 8:54 pm
Good thing Molina runs slower than Bonds.
August 3, 2007 at 9:02 pm
dammit. unlucky there, plus a great at-bat by Roberts.
August 3, 2007 at 9:08 pm
Cane owns us tonight.
August 3, 2007 at 9:13 pm
34 - yeah he does. Pads don’t hit much to begin with, and when someone as talented as Cain is on his game…yikes.
August 3, 2007 at 9:14 pm
And here comes Bonds…
August 3, 2007 at 9:14 pm
…and there he goes, grounding to 1st. sweet.
August 3, 2007 at 9:19 pm
0-4, nice.
August 3, 2007 at 9:23 pm
Yup, and getting a couple of runs here would be even nicer.
August 3, 2007 at 9:24 pm
Finally, Cain gets the tug. Sheesh.
August 3, 2007 at 9:30 pm
SCOTT @$%%#@^*%^#@%$ HAIRSTON!!!!!

August 3, 2007 at 9:31 pm
Wow!
August 3, 2007 at 9:31 pm
and I gotta admit, I feel for Matt Cain. he was lights out tonight.
August 3, 2007 at 9:31 pm
Now, with Cain out we have a ball game!!!!
August 3, 2007 at 9:33 pm
Wow, again. Hairston crushed that ball.
August 3, 2007 at 9:39 pm
Corn on the cob!!
August 3, 2007 at 9:46 pm
Wow!!! That was a helluva 3rd out! Sweeney out by two furlons.
August 3, 2007 at 9:46 pm
Wow, that’s totally on Flannery. There’s a big difference between aggressive baserunning and dumb baserunning, and that was dumb.
August 3, 2007 at 9:46 pm
Here comes Silent L and his new found clutchness….:)
August 3, 2007 at 9:48 pm
#50: At least he can’t hit into a DP.
August 3, 2007 at 9:48 pm
Yet
August 3, 2007 at 9:52 pm
OMG, Silent L with 3 hits so far in a single game?
August 3, 2007 at 9:53 pm
One man offensive force!
August 3, 2007 at 9:54 pm
ok that was nuts, Matt & Mud rambling about a ball hit to left, and then Bard does just that.
August 3, 2007 at 9:54 pm
Good job by Glen on putting the skids to Blum.
August 3, 2007 at 10:09 pm
Umpire is really tightening Bell’s strike zone.
August 3, 2007 at 10:15 pm
We need a walk off homer…
August 3, 2007 at 10:20 pm
41, again:
SCOTT @$%%#@^*%^#@%$ HAIRSTON!!!!!
August 3, 2007 at 10:20 pm

August 3, 2007 at 10:21 pm

DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!DONG!!!
Our deadline deals seem to be working out, huh?
August 3, 2007 at 10:21 pm
Wow square!
August 3, 2007 at 10:21 pm
Anybody care to change their vote on the latest Ducksnorts poll?
August 3, 2007 at 10:22 pm
KT must be smiling right now.
August 3, 2007 at 10:22 pm
Couldn’t Cheo have hit a pair of clutch, late-inning homers just as easily?
August 3, 2007 at 10:23 pm
61 - darn right. New guys are paying dividends. Hairston with two bombs, and don’t forget Mackowiak (and Blum) throwing out the winning run at the plate.
August 3, 2007 at 10:25 pm
Wow!! That is amazing. A 3 run shot to tie the game and then the Walk Off to win it? Holy Cow!
Or if I may borrow from TD’s better half, Corn on the cob!!!
August 3, 2007 at 10:25 pm
And that is 18 career HR’s for Hairston, , 732 left for the all time lead!
August 3, 2007 at 10:26 pm
Correct 732….
August 3, 2007 at 10:26 pm
Stu, we gotta get Mackowiak a nick name. His is too difficult to pronounce after a few brews.
August 3, 2007 at 10:26 pm
Forget 68, 70…737!
August 3, 2007 at 10:28 pm
RE: 71
That’s good. Rob “737″ Mackowiak.
August 3, 2007 at 10:33 pm
737 it is! Man Law. Everyone agreed, say aye.
August 3, 2007 at 10:56 pm
Aye!
August 3, 2007 at 11:23 pm
Creedence would be proud!
August 3, 2007 at 11:34 pm
75: I am assuming hat was a reference to “Traveling Band.” A reach, but nice, nonetheless.
August 4, 2007 at 12:19 am
Wow. I was at the game tonight. It was awesome. The past two years, the Padres are 6-2 when I go to the game with 4 walk off wins.
It’s great to say KT’s moves pay off immediately.
August 4, 2007 at 12:29 am
77: And it’s even better to “see” his moves pay off immediately. Good times.
August 4, 2007 at 1:45 am
Good point, Richard. I saw your post over at mccovey chronicles, and that really is quite cruel. But so much fun…
August 4, 2007 at 5:56 am
Hairston…hope that buys him a start today…
August 4, 2007 at 6:08 am
Sorry for the delay - here are my Cooperstown pics (finally):

August 4, 2007 at 11:52 am
79: Everyone should go check out McCovey Chronicles from last night. All of the comments following Hairston’s first home run are excellent.
