Out of curiosity, has everyone who comments here read Weaver on Strategy?
A good nickname opens doors…
Bud Black on the 1090 pregame show a few minutes ago: “We feel very strongly about Kouz.”
To which he might then have added: “”Nudge nudge, wink wink, know what I mean, know what I mean, say no more, say no more!”
Or Jerry could have replied: “Yes, and even at my age!”
1: No, I haven’t. Have always heard that it’s a must read. Unfortunately, there are a lot of those.
3: It’s also a pretty quick read (under 200 pages).
Dont bring that weak stuff in here Doc!
I think you call that being VERY careful w/ Mr. Barry
I like CY throwing over to first a bunch of times. Maybe Bonds will tweak a hammy or something while scampering back those three feet.
Whoa. NOG taking a strike. Don’t see that every day.
That was a nifty play by NOG to end the last inning though
re: 1
I read it and enjoyed it and gave it to a baseball coach I was assisting at the time.
yes…very nice play by NOG. Also can’t say how happy I am again to have the Channel 4 broadcast on my mlb package on directv…
not sure Barfield would have gotten to that one in the hole
I thought the Giants were one of the few teams that still didn’t put the players names on the back of the Jersey. Is this a new thing this year or am I a retard?
I think the Giants have been doing that for a few years now..
13 – don’t know, but don’t overlook the possibility of “both”
is that Gwynn in the box with the Channel 4 team tonight?
yes it is…
Yeah, maybe Ch. 4 is on board more now than last season. I rarely got Ch. 4 on DirecTV or MLBtv. But I would like to get Scully for the Dodgers series.
Is something wrong with Sledge, or are they just riding Cruz while he’s hot? (Cruz is starting in left again.)
Good AB by Bard.
15 – Hey brother, stop messing with the Boston contingency! It’s three hours later here!!!
And 30 degrees cooler, at least in D.C.
18 – I totally agree. Scully is by far and away the best broadcast of the year. I totally hope that we don’t get the padres broadcast for that series…
Feel free to walk another one, dude.
19 – either way, it’s Crudge-time baby
Mudcat called Righetti the “Big Ragu.” Nice.
Would like to see KG make Cain throw two strikes here before swinging.. .then go Oppo!
I watched just about every game last year and the Padres feed was never shown on directv. I bought the mlb.com package just to be able to listen to the Padres announcers.
Dammit. What is our aversion to scoring runs?!?!?!
that wasn’t “oppo”… crapburgers!
Fine. At least we brought the pitch count up. I’m sick of these 3 pitch innings we keep giving mediocre starters.
27: I totally agree, except in the case of Vin Scully. I mean, the guys a one man show.. He’s got a drum between his knees, a tamborine on his shoe, and a triangle dangling from his ear…
How about the ducksnorts ad during the game….
OMG!!!!! Matty just mentioned Geoff’s book
Ducksnorts shout out on Channel 4! Excellent.
HOLY LORD!!!!
GO GEOFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel so proud to be a part of the little group here right now..
All right, GY! That was great! Even the Book was touted.
hey – Ducksnorts getting the shoutout!! in fact, the book getting the shoutout!!!! Great stuff Geoff!!!!!!
I feel so proud to be a part of the little group here right now..
Dude!!!!!!!!
now that is some sweet promo there!
such a plug haha, congrats geoff
Don’t know where Geoff is, but I hope he heard that.
that’s awesome! Wish I wasn’t watching on mute (catching “24″ on tivo at the same time…)
So we’re gonna have like 20,000 more people joining the IGD now, right?
yep, they spent a good 3 minutes or so pluggin Ducksnorts.com and the book. Matty mentioned that he recommended it to Darren Balsey.
that is awesome… Did you guys just see Jake Peavy getting smarter b y the second sitting next to maddux watching the game?
Thanks, folks. And thanks to the Channel 4 guys, too! Very cool.
AWESOME!!!!
42 – Geoff is sitting in the booth with a gun to Matty’s head apparently
49: That was so not right and so funny all at the same time…
Just had to pop in–you can’t pay for promos like that, can you? ^_^
It did remind me I was supposed to buy the book, too…
44: Really? I’m convinced that truly loyal padres fans consist of a universe about 100 persons large….
#44: To give you an idea, we usually have 25-30 people hanging out during the game. We’re at 100 right now.
53 – wow, better watch my language
welcome to all the new people……don’t be shy…
Pretty great half-inning all around. Plug for ducksnorts and Geoff and the book, and a routine 1-2-3 inning for CY.
HA HA HA The Giles pummeling of Kouz yesterday
Looks like you just got the ad on Channel 4. Didn’t cost much, either.
Quite a year for the DS gang! Gaslamp, Geoff and I all got the SI recognition. Now Geoff gets some MAJOR plug time for his book! Very sweet!
Geoff, if you haven’t hooked those guys up with autographed copies yet, you kinda need to man. That just amounted to a free commercial right there.
Geoff, glad we could get you a little shoutout. You do great work and I hope that all the people that stop by after the mention stick around for awhile.
If you do good work (Geoff), it should be recognized.
On another topic, how long till we get our “Kouz & Crudge” tail end of the order t-shirts, mugs, teddy bears, etc.
geoff, good work on the plug. that’s awesome. i’m enjoying just browsing the site.
54: I think the Giles bro’s have way more fun than us.
Hey .. anyone else here outside the SD area watching on MLB extra innings …. They have the channel 4 broadcast on ,,, I am in heaven … get to watch on the big screen instead of my computer screen
that bit about MGiles coming at Kouz with “malice” made me LOL
64: I’m right there with you. This never happened last year….I don’t know how long it’s going to last or even how it’s happening but I’m loving this..
Sue: Welcome to my world. Say hello to “steve from boston” while you’re at it. lots of us “external-diego” fans out there.
they started showing the home team broadcast on MLB.com last year .. I never thought they would have it on MLB extra innings .. wonder how they got past cable with this
2nd highest BA by pitchers last year…at a whopping .172. In the immortal words of Clark W Griswold, “Nothing to be proud of, Russ”
Geoff: how much do we have to invest for you to bump up the server capacity…. seems like this much traffic is going to slow the site down…
67 – don’t forget those of us kickin’ it in the OP (Overland Park, KS)
#66: I’m sure if they have the rights to show the games you’ve seen for the past two days you’ll be able to see the rest of the home games with the Padres feed. Every once in a while on MLB.tv, though, they will show the away feed during a home game for some strange reason. So don’t freak out if for one game you’re back to the away feed.
Masha .. I am not that far away .. just about 2 hrs north of San Diego .. and I have season tickets … but because of work can not make it to Sunday , Monday and Tuesday games …
Kelly O’Conner .. is this Boston Kelly ????
Wouldn’t have known about this site without Matt V.’s endorsment on SD4! Congrats Geoff.
I so wish the internet and Ducksnorts had been around when I was exiled to Iowa for college. Hard as it is to be far away from your favorite team, it is better than it used to be.
Geoff does a great job here of linking to various pages and giving you a good portal to hit a lot of different stories. I know I’ve benefited from that…I’m gonna be trying to return some of that love Ducksnorts spreads around as the year goes on…
Good bunt by Cain, and the badguys are a pop up away from leading.
Mud is so smart …. how can Mark stand it .. LOL
Doc got just a sliver of that pitch
73: Um, it’s “Marsh”…. Watch your typing Stu!
Here come’s Boch!
#55: Thanks, Mark, for welcoming folks. My manners have escaped me — I’m a little verklempt right now.
#59: Yep, got it covered. And kudos to San Diego Spotlight and Gaslamp Ball for all the great work you guys are doing. Everyone, be sure to support your friendly neighborhood Padres bloggers!
#60: Thanks, Ed. That was awesome!
#70: Um, I’ll be happy if it’s only a slowdown.
Best curve ball I’ve ever seen in my life. Too bad that didn’t seal the deal.
Great call by the ump, and T Gwynn noticed it right away
wow nice shot channel 4 and great call ump
That’s great replay work and a very alert call from the umpire.
One of the first times I’ve enjoyed a call like that for Dave
Anyone have a pitch count for CY?
Alright! Gotta love stranding a lead double with speed. We continue to pitch well.
86:.. As Tim Flannery says … Good luck Thursday Giants
I miss having Dave Roberts on the team. He was like a toned down Ricky Henderson.
Anthony .. pitch count 44 i think
Young- 44 pitches through 3.
KADIR NELSON graduated a few years ahead of me at my almamater
73: busted! ^_^ I pop in here when I can, but sometimes I’m editing and watching, and my multitasking tops out around two!
That really lets Cain off the hook. He threw three strikes all inning, and all three of them were put in play for an out. Although, all three were also hit well, so that somewhat excuses it.
re:90 I miss Dave Roberts as well..but not at 3 years for 18 million or whatever he got from the Giants..
Well, that’s one good thing about having a short inning. Don’t have to listen to extended interviews with architecture school dropouts.
Kelly O’Cooner .. as I repeat myself .. is this Boston Kelly …
I agree Mark O.
Hey .. Khalil can play 2nd ….
‘Bout time they put a RJ BBQ on the Toyota Terrace.
Sue–yes. Me. Boston. Sorry if I wasn’t clear! It’s late out here. ^_~
Ok…now i’m hungry for some RJ barbeque….
#101 – Darn straight! I know where I’m eating tomorrow night!
Hey .. Kelly you are up late …
I wish i was going tomorrow night..
Hey Ducksnorters, you should check out Ch. 4 Padres. They’ve got a great broadcasting team.
(trying to return the favor)
The Girls say hello .. they are at the game .. I am at home
C-Y Extension thru 2011

Okay – quick question: HOW MANY OF US ARE THERE IN BOSTON?
So… no-hitter through three for Cain…
111: That’s right. Cannot stress this enough. NO-HITTER. NO-HITTER. There is currently a no-hitter in progress.
109: Great news! I know this is a stretch, but I really feel like KT is taking a page out of AJ Smith’s book and starting to sign his young studs to long term contracts before he has to. Of course, KT hasn’t really had many young stars before this….
So you guys are saying he has a no hitter?
It’ll be a while before I get to a game in person–probably not before June. Tough weekend schedules; Pittsburgh is midweek. Ah well. Sorry you’re not with the girls!
I am glad to get the home broadcast, though I could do without being tempted by barbecue this late!
112: Exactly. No-Hitter, everybody. Turn on the game, there’s a no-hitter going.
110: Seems like three of us now.
Maybe we can all find a sports bar one of the days we’re on ESPN.
110: Do I have to wave here, or am I already on record?
Sunday night is an ESPN game I believe…
Yes .. I can smell the BBQ … I will see the girls on Wed and going to see Phil Nevin on Thurs … since the Padres are out of town
KG – Think the opposite way. Live the opposite way. HIT THE OPPOSITE WAY!
Matt Cain is better than Aaron Cook, but c’mon.
Why does this feel like deja vu all over again? It’s not unsporting to score some runs guys…
come on KG
117: I agree. In fact, I think we can find a bar that simply has MLB extra innings. Where in Boston are you located?
122: This is much different than yesterday. The Padres have hit several balls well, have had 4 guys on base, and have actually made Cain throw some pitches.
Still, Cain does have the no-hitter.
Yes he has a no hitter….but we’ve hit some balls hard….and he still has a no hitter
124: I’m in Arlington, but I work at BU, right in Kenmore Square. Where are you folks?
Ok…if this keeps up..we all need to change seats..
At least KG made him work for it.
Did Ray Durham just smack his lips at Cameron?!
127: I’m in cambridge, going to HBS.. not to far from you. Steve?
Mark .. I just moved to the other side on the couch
I changed seats as well…
OUCH!!!
ouch …..!!!!!
Ouch.
my elbow hurts from that…
Aw man… this hazing the rookie thing’s gotta go. I really feel for Kouz. I hope he knows us fans have all the patience in the world with him.
124: I live in Winthrop
Crudge time. Make it happen.
ahhh, that hurts. Like Marks saying, the more bone it hits the more it feels like it rattled your teeth. It hurts…at least it’s San Diego. Getting hit like that during a night game in early April in Cleveland? OUCH!
Just another reason to be glad you’re here, Kouz…
No hitter…cain has a no hitter
Ok..not enough people changed seats to break the jinx…
74 pitches for Cain …. keep those pitches comin .. get tot he bull pen
Yeah, at least we don’t get “snowed out.”
Good lord. C’mon, sacrifice a live chicken in the dugout, do something!
No-hitter, no-hitter, no-hitter!
5 runners have reached base. I was at a no-hitter like this…
145: Yeah, like President Palmer in Major League.
got see if the Giant broadcasters are saying no hitter … Matty just said it … I could move seats again ….
I remember a no hitter at the Murph were the guys walked like 5 but still no hit us
way to go Josh
Changed t-shirts from “Padres 2006 NL West Champs” to “Padres retro 1969 throwback”.
I have high hopes.
and I’m one of the newbies drawn in by the promo. Nice site!
(Padres fan in Phoenix.)
That’s the spirit Clayton
CY is looking very very good…
Can we please get C-Y some run support?
The ‘69 team probably scored more than the ‘06 version…
72 pitches for young …
138: Wow, you’re kind of on the other side of boston, out there a bit? Looks like it must be a beautiful area (a pennisula of sorts?). Okay, sounds like we’ll have to find a weekend game in order to meet up.
154: 200-300 runs fewer.
150: You “Zonies” just can’t stay away. LOL. How are you getting the broadcast?
CY looks like he’s pitching on the road!
Actually, so far this has been one of the most exciting non-exciting games I’ve ever seen.
Rick … mlb extra innings … showing channel 4 SD
LOL…. M.V. is certainly helping with the excitement. Making sure we don’t mistake Nissan’s logo for being “shit”.
I’d love it if CY got the first hit here.
Last year Cain threw 5 1/3 innings against us, only allowing one hit, but walking 6 to go with striking out 8. This outing seems similar, except he’s not k-ing guys.
http://www.mccoveychronicles.com/comments/2007/4/9/192341/6430/187#187
Way to go CY, making him throw 7 pitches.
Matty V is doing everything but throw a black cat on the field to jinx this..
ohh…they’re breaking out the SF no hitter stats and graphics
COME ON GUYS!
I love C4 trying to put the whammy on the no-no early… .
that darn Doc Roberts
Cain will have to throw about 200 pitches to go all 9
166: You have to love that kind of effort.
For a guy throwing a no-hitter, Cain looks horrible. Guys are hitting the ball hard (see OG just now), he’s walked 4 guys and hit a batter, and he’s only k-ed 2.
158 – I’m getting it on mlb.com… Actually born & raised in S.D. though. Although I’ve been here 5 years now, so guess that’d make me a Feenix native by now
And that was a nice catch… dammit.
173: Yeah, Cain’s doing about as much as anyone to break up the no-hitter.
cain should credit his defense for making plays more than besting our guys at the plate
yep..Roberts and Visquel both made great plays in that 1/2 inning
Viggo Mortenson takes over at third for San Diego.
178 – loved him in LOTR
re: 171 Geoff, you have something automatically “commenting” trackbacks?
I just did a little in-game update and felt it was only right to plug where I heard the info and from whom…
So, is it the San Francisco Padres or the San Diego Giants?
I vote “retaliatory beaning to the knee.”
Where the hell did that 2-0 pitch miss?
anyone have a syring handy?
Check Barry’s locker
181: I’m been trying to pull for the ” no-cal padres”…
I think the Padres should walk Bonds the entire series.
183: Barry Bonds gets his own special strike zone.
wow, 184 should definitely have read “syringe”…
Love the up and in ball four. If you’re gonna walk him, might as well throw at the guy.
187: would be more fun just to see them hit him with the first pitch every time up
187: 4 pitches inside around the knees. Make him move those feet.
And a strike to Durham first pitch following the walk to Bonds. Just like Hensley, except….except…hey, do you think Paul Emmel is watching?
Don cheadle up to bat
I love the PO’d look on Bonds’ face when he doesn’t get pitched to.
How is that different from the normal look on his face?
now is not the time for a big inning
come on CY
OG!! SAVED US TWO!!!
What a catch!
Way to go camera guy. Had me worried.
great play by OG
where was the camera looking …..
Rick S., the thing that bothers me about that is that sometimes he DOES get pitched to…reference that 2-0 pitch. Bonds has a minimum of one pitch an at bat that would be a strike to anybody else.
Nice job by OG.
Great bead on that ball by OG.
wow, great catch from superglow.. that’s the way to orange it!
Ok..now lets get some hits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This clown has a NO HITTER
206 – he caught in his tan-tor beam
True. I just hate the fact that he is chasing the home run record having done it on steroids. I can’t stand that guy.
For the new blood:
Brian = Orange Giles = OG
Marcus = Non Orange Giles = NOG
208: nice. I love it. I have to assume that’s the same “beam” that’s turning his hair blonde….
Hey Geoff – there’s a contest tailor-made for the DS community! I vote the “Got NOG” t-shirt.
good call Rich….i’m sure that is pretty confusing for the new folks around here
thanks .. Rich …. I was sratching my brain
But that’s a strike? Wally Bell should be ashamed of himself.
WHAT??!!
way outside…obviously Wally Bell wants to umpire a no hitter
Bard’s SO: W T F?!?
215: And by ashamed of himself, I mean fired.
that ball was carrying a 760 area code it was so far off the plate
#217 – I think you’re on to something
210, got it thanks!
Oh nice call, blue.
good grief charlie brown….
time for the random “cameron dinger”…
98 pitches for Cain.
come on now Pads …. this is no way to play ball …..
OK, the “Cameron’s Crazies” thing needs to die a swift death. No need to be associating with that farce in Durham…
unfortunately, he was thinking the same thing….
Richard with the key point…no way Cain goes another three innings unless he gets help from the Padres…even Wally Bell won’t get him there without it.
227: Damn straight. Go heels!
Cammy has looked BAD the last few games. Really hacking away up there.
Why does it feel like we’re losing this game?
Crap. Ground rule double.
232: Because we’re about to be?
#232 – because they haven’t gotten one dang hit yet
if we don’t make feliz chase bad pitches this at-bat, then we’re making a major mistake…
I know..i keep looking up and seeing the score 0-0 and i’m surprised…
You have to like the grounder keeping the runner at second.
I’m too used to Cammy getting to every single ball out there. OK Bud, this is why we have a solid bullpen…
238: Cut the run expectancy in half.
My wife thinks Greene needs a makeover.
0-2 CY…finish him off..
Believe it! Strike 3.
just like that….very nice..
Steeeeericke 3!
Bochy doesn’t like the small ball so no bunt …
way to go CY !!!!!
Did you see the swoop on that ball….that was a sweet pitch!
Cain batting for himself. Very “interesting” decision.
dude has a no hitter…can’t pull him now…
gona leave Cain in … or just not wanting to double switch ….
YEAH CY
Strikeout #5. Aren’t you glad Bochy manages a division rival? I know I am.
Okay, time for another late game Padres special!
Bochy’s got to figure his best chance to win is to keep Cain in the game.
Well, Cain does have a no-hitter going. So, you don’t want to pull a guy who has a no-hitter. Gotta keep him in to get that no-hitter.
In the words of Borat: Great Success!
When was the last time two pitchers from opposing teams went 9 innings in a no-hitter?
Tony G just summed it up best saying that bochy doesn’t like to bunt…how the hell do you not bunt the guy over in that situation since he alread did just that earlier in the game
That pays such great dividends down the line…sticking with CY, having the confidence in him. Just like Jake on Sunday. That’s Buddy taking a risk that he hopes will pay off in August and September, when guys don’t feel like they have to make a perfect pitch or be pulled.
Correction, scoreless game
Freaking fantastic Ks that inning by CY.
It’s time to break this thing open. How about getting Hoffy a save?
Go Greene!!!!!
gone NO HITTER AND WHO ELSE BUT GREENE ……
THANK YOU KHALIL
Attaboy, KG!
Who switched seats? nice.
thatta boy Spicoli…
Nice work Greene-y!!!!
Too bad he didn’t go for third.
NOW LET’S PLAY SOME BALL PADRES!!!!
That’s my boy. Way to bust up the no-no!
I got up and pulled another beer from my keggorator. Maybe I should drink more beer.
We need Branyan to pull one to the right side to get Khalil to 3rd..
yup, all that sutff I’ve been writing about KG going the opposite way… I was just kidding…
let’s go Vi-ggo, let’s go
let’s go Vi-ggo, let’s go
have one for me Rick…
make him pitch, Branyan
take one for the team Rick S.
Schmidt went on the DL?
Russel wants to bring that man home…he’s hacking. I don’t have a problem with that either.
I’ll have two for you Mark!
cain is loosing ball control quickly
Thanks man… I had too many this weekend ot have any tonight and besides..it would be bad luck to start drinking now..
272: Is that another new nickname? I love it.
Now I think we bunt…
somethin’s brewin
His arm is turning to rubber.
Great at-bat by Branyan. C’mon, guys.
way to go CAIN ….
GO go go Cruz ….
279: Cain hasn’t had control all night.
There’s only one man who can come through in a time like this.
AND THAT MAN IS CRUDGE!
They don’t want Cruz turned around…Cain will stay in.
i still like the bunt idea here…
Problem is, if Cruz bunts, they bring in the lefty and we’re stuck with Blum trying to drive the run in.
That was sweet…
nice Cruzzzzzzzz
Why oh why is Geoff Blum on-deck?
Beautiful bunt by Cruz.
288L nicely said.
sweet. Crudge bunt.
Kids, are you watching? That was a perfect bunt.
Yeah, for the new guys here… we hate Blum.
You’ll see why in a second here.
Blummer with a Sac Fly…. you heard it here first…
Good call by Bud Black.
288: nicely said.
Why is Geoff Blum pinch-hitting? Might as well let CY hit for himself.
NOOOOOOOO. WHY? WHAT THE HELL? CAIN IS STAYING IN THE GAME. USE THE LEFTY. YOU KNOW, THE GUY THAT CAN ACTUALLY HIT.
They’re calling that a swing?
sooo close to the porch!!!
Wouldn’t that have been a foul ball?
Why did he catch that? I’ll take it…..but that was really stupid…
Mark O. you called it. Sac fly!
damn that park is huge… take the run though
And he hangs the slider to Blum. Thank you, Mr. Cain.
insurance run here for NOG…
Wow. Just… relief. Good work Blum.
Perfectly placed ball. I apologize to Blum.
Although Winn should have let that fall.
308. Exactly…he should have let it drop the moment he saw white line pass below him…
I don’t care .. sac fly or not … it’s a run ….
So, this is NOG?
Why Blum? He has pinch-hit a few times this season. Anyone else is better.
bummer…. but hey…we’re winning!!!!!
bummer…. but hey…we’re winning!!!!!
I saw a lot of you mentioned MLB Extra Innings earlier in the threads and that you were getting Matty, Tony and Mud on Extra Innings — are all of you on DirecTV? I have Extra Innings through cable (Comcast), and I’m getting the FOX Sports Bay Area feed. I signed up for the free trial of mlb.tv and I’m getting to hear the guys, but is there something different between DirecTV and cable?
317: yup.
I’m on Directv and I’ve had the Padres feed 3 days in a row…
Comcast Cable is going to black out channel 4 cox … in SD …
Time for The Claw…
meredith instead of liney? bold move mr. black, bold move indeed…..
GO CLA
Liney pitched yesterday and I don’t think Cla did…
So, is Cla the 8th inning guy now or is Linebrink unavailable? Or third option is it because Cla was already warming up in the 7th?
nice Tshirt idea Matty ….
Cla going right after Bonds.
I know Blum has come through and all right now but you know who he reminds me of? That’s right, Saddam Hussein. It’s like… after a certain point you’ve vilified someone so much that even though he let the U.N. inspectors back in for a bit… it’s just too late. There comes a point where you just gotta get out the rope and the Moto RAZR camera phone and go to town.
I don’t think the Claw is afraid of Barry Big Head Bonds
Cla made Bonds look like a little leaguer.
Wow. Fear the Claw.
CAUSE CLA CAN DO THAT TO BONDS >>>>>>>>>
Maybe Black doesn’t have a stupid formula like Bochy.
The Claw!!!!!!!! Sit down Juice Box!
Nice inning
“juice box” I like it…
I’m not saying I’d rather have Scotty in there because I wouldn’t. I’m just curious why Cla was in there instead.
Cla made Barry look stupider than Borat’s brother Bilo.
332- LOL. I agree completely.
I am not ashamed to admit I giggled with glee at that last swing from Bonds.
I’m betting it’s because Liney pitched yesterday…but it could be like someone else said that Cla was warming up already in the 7th..may as well bring him in since he was close to being ready.
332: Awesome analogy!!!! Thanks for sharing that!
337: Is that even possible. Do some managers actually make decisions during each game instead of at the beginning of the season?
332: LOL.
wow. just wow.
I love Matty’s t-shirt idea. I need to wrangle one of those.
(By the way, 324, I’m about 2000 miles from San Diego — I should have made that clear to begin with.
)
Damn….
Meredith just struck out Bonds on three nasty pitches. Damn….hell yeah. Bochy would have brought in a lefty.
Geoff, you should get SD4 to advertise on your site. Swap ‘em for mention on their broadcasts.
For whom the bell tolls, my friends… for whom the bell tolls.. I can hardly wait to see a shot of Bochy when Hells Bells comes on…
I just love watching Adrian Gonzales swing the bat…
Yo, Adrian!!!
Brian has hit the ball hard all night. No luck.
come on a little breathing room for Hoffy
356: would be nice Sue… although we’re past juice box in the lineup…
How often does Bonds K on three pitches? I would assume infrequently.
C’mon Mike… a little Allstate would be nice.
Trevor Time!
ok … we all stand for the bells …….
i’m not ashamed to admit that I still get goosebumps when i hear the bells start…
Bochy’s nightmare… Bells. It must be truly surreal for him.
all smilles and goose bumps here ….. our first bells of the year
for some reason I’m feeling a little playoff atmosphere. might be because Cla made Bonds look as bad as he did Pujols last Sept.
Steve, I admire your appreciation for your own analogies
Me too, Mark…I was there the day the rang for the first time. I’ve been there many times to hear them and it still shivers my spine. It’s just awesome.
I was at the first game they played that. Saturday Brewers double-header at the Q (or was it still the Murph?).
I was at that first game too….Saturday afternoon game against Houston if i remember right…tied the consecutive saves record that day
Nice of Durham to help out swinging at the first pitch.

We won one and lost the other.

hmmmm
Holy crap, that guy’s slow.
c’mon Trevor….5:30am comes early in the morning…
He looked like he was running under water.
slower than Adrian even..
I have to look it up…but my memory actually is that it was against the Astros in 98.
Sheesh, I gotta get up at 4:15am.
389…that’s what I remember as well
Rick..you win…

Good god….can we not do anything the easy way?
That’s it folks!

Take it easy Padre fans
Three outs.
Hoffman.
Awesome win for the boys… 3 in a row…lets get it on for #4 tomorrow..
Nice recovery Bardo.
2 hits and a win. Our pitching is ridiculous.
Actually, Mark…We Win! Nice job by Shakespeare to keep the ball playable for the out.
sorry Boston …. we love Bard !! and Cla
Welcome to all the newcomers……see ya’ll here tomorrow night. Good night everyone…
So, Bochy’s in-game management finally won us a game. hahahaha
Ahh, a fitting end- Trevor with the K on a change (I think), and Feliz chases a pitch way out of the strike zone. That right there is why the Padres are 5-2 and the Giants are 1-6.
good night all .. this is a great site .. I will have to thank Matty for calling it out on the broadcast ….
nothing better than watching a game with friends /////
I was ready to fill in for ya Kevin…but glad I didn’t have to.
Sweet game. Sweet win. I so badly want Trevor to get to 500 before Bonds gets to Aaron.
Check out the IGD at McCoveyChronicles.com if you want to enjoy the misery that is a Giant fan’s existence.
This has been some of the best pitching I’ve ever seem to start the season. Great pitching from every guy on the staff and just enough offense to scratch out the W.
410: OMG, I totally will check that out. Damn, I’m such a heartless bastard.
A nervous wreck of a heartless bastard. I don’t know if I can do another 150+ games of this.
No problem. I did it from work.
409: Before? How about instead?
412: You’re a heartless bastard? I’m over there rubbing it in.
415: LOLOLOL… please don’t man. You know the giants are gonna win one or two of their games against us this year and I wouldn’t want to see retaliatory posts in here.
412: You want real fun, wait until we play the Dodgers. They tend towards some rather colorful language in the IGD when we’re beating their brains in.
The Ch4 post game guys are defending Bochy based on the fact that he’d already made the poor decision to let his pitcher go for a 7 inning no-no instead of playing for a win.
415: Dude, you ready for some real evil genius… you don’t go over there and rub it in. You go over there and pretend you’re a Giants fan and just spread the pessimism on as thick as you can without getting caught.
A great great post of theirs…
“I don’t know computer magic, but I think we should do a temporary site re-design and devote our collective awesomeness to blogging about Fresno only until this “major league” team does something right.
I am 100% not joking.”
Help me please.
Great Job tonight Pads
Anyhow, what I need is to find this game I remember watching as a kid. I still remember it as the greatest game I ever saw. It was at the Murph, and it was against a non-division opponent I think, either the cubs or Mets. The last inning Steve Finley, who also scored the only run, robbed the second batter of a game tying homerun, and went over the wall to get it. Final score, pads 1- opponent-0. Anyone able to help me?
I’m enjoying this so much I think I’ll post a few more of the great comments over on the Giants blog. Stop me if this gets annoying…
“You know who has to be really upset? Clay Hensley.
Since he’s the only guy to lose to this clown show of a lineup, I expect him to be extra motivated tomorrow. In other words, we’ll score no runs on negative two hits.”
“It’s about time for Grant to post a the picture of a cute animal and threaten to kill it if the Giants fail to score/lose again.
I vote for a puppy. Kitten’s already been done.”
“Cain’s going to finish his career with a 89-201 record with a 2.92 ERA if he stays on this team. I just know it.”
“We’d be pretty good if we didn’t suck so bad.”
421: Those guys are pretty great.

We’re getting along famously.
One last comment before I head off to bed…
I really hope mlb.com has for one of their highlights that match up between Cla and Bonds. That was as impressive and as incredible of a moment as any diving catch or well hit ball.
ANOTHER GREAT GAME! ANOTHER GREAT IGD! SEE YE’ALL TOMORROW!
For those keeping track…ESPN news showed Bonds walking in the first but not striking out in the eighth. C’mon, get your marketing right… everyone outside of NoCal would rather see the Box strike out.
Richard, way to be… you’re saying what some of us are still thinking…
Word on Kouzmanoff? I’m sure will be better known tomorrow, might be day to day..
also Chris Young getting an extension and now word that Mike Cameron might get a deal… thoughts?
maybe that extra payroll mentioned a few days ago in the local papers is being used not only to get the amateurs but also lock up the players the Padres want to keep long term.
Are there links to this Cameron and Young stuff?
427: Yeah.
Right here.
426: Thanks. I think.
Glad to hear CY got an extension.
