We had a request for Chicago or Strawberry Alarm Clock lyrics today. I couldn’t find anything appropriate for the occasion, but I did learn that Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Ed King was a founding member of Strawberry Alarm Clock, which I would not have guessed.
Anyway, the Padres were supposed to win the games Brandon Webb isn’t pitching so they wouldn’t have to beat him to take the series. Oh well, I guess now they have to do it the hard way.
What else is new?
Whoa! Am I the first post? Heeeelllllooooo
Eh, bad start by Woody.
Never good to walk the lead-off batter.
I think I could have hit that first pitch strike to Conor Jackson.
Steve Quis is already singing…makes me miss Matty V
Nice uneventful inning after that first walk. Good job working ahead on those 2-3-4 hitters (even if it is a good thing that they were taking first pitch).
Good work criticizing Giles for swinging on “3-0″, when it was in fact 3-1 when he swung.
I really really hope Matty resigns. That was a fairly predictable bottom of the first.
Three lazy groundouts, two on hitters’ counts.
Dodgers up 2-0 on the first inning homer.
Dodgers up already
Lazy throw, Blummer!
“He was lucky he kept him in the ballpark on that one.” Granted, that was a horrific curve, but it still fooled Tracy pretty badly, and he had to make a good adjustment to hit it well.
With the exception of that hanging curve that was hit for a double and the leadoff walk, Woody is doing an excellent job locating his pitches.
Thank you very much Chris Snyder.
Yup. Looks like he’s getting in a groove. Now where’s that magic bat power…
OH NO. STOP IT! no bunting. bad cameron.
Haven’t they learned their lesson yet? Cameron + bunt = bad
The Pirates managed to not score with runners on second and third and no outs in the top of the 2nd.
YEAH! Cameron’s on a tear.
THAT’S WHY YOU DON’T BUNT CAMERON!!! ALL RIGHT!!!!
#19 – sounds like us at times
Cameron = Mr September!
Not this time. Attaway Geoff.
Nice lead. Now, let’s keep it!
Just got back from dinner; heard the three-spot while driving home. Nice way to start the night.
Hi, Geoff! Just heard the Pirates scored one. 2-1 Dogs
Wretch! Am I really listening to Quis suck up to Mud?
Attaway Brian. Two times up, two groundouts to the right side. On counts where he should be getting good pitches to hit.
Deja vu?
Mmmmmmm…chipwich
Wow, that does look good.
Did Quis just say he wants to see Coleman in Baywatch?!
Do I really need that image of Jerry Coleman with his shirt off flexing on the beach?
I can’t take it. One more random comment like that I and I’m muting!
Great work. That’s how you pitch with a lead.
Thank you D-Backs hitters. 58 pitches through 5.
Yep…woody is looking good tonight so far. And on another note..this is my first experience with this bozo doing the Padres game….If I’m Matty V listening to this, I’m saying this is who you’re going to replace me with…my price tag just went up a whole lot..
A complete game from Woody would certainly be nice……2 days off for the main bullpen guys would be huge at this point.
I feel bad for Steve Quis. He seems like a nice guy but he just annoys everyone. He reminds me of a kid who tries to ingratiate himself by talking all the time and trying to be funny, not realizing that he’s just irritating everyone.
And the way he pronounces words that end in “-ay” really bothers me.
It could be worse… what if Dennis Morgino was doing color instead of Mud?
Anthony, you hit it right on the head! That’s exactly who he reminds me of.
He should watch the games Matty does so he doesn’t repeat his material. He’s done that a couple of times tonight.
Maybe he’s just trying to prove he belongs with all the anecdotes and stats. He would be okay if he just toned it down a little and stopped trying to be Matty Jr.
Okay, what’s the deal here? Woody was cruising.
Whoa, Boch did the visit!
It’s not like the balls have been crushed. A couple of bloops into the outfield and an infield single. So he hasn’t collapsed.
Nice response!
Haha, the second strike got into his head.
Woody is a smart pitcher. That was a nice sequence to Byrnes.
Greetings from the ballpark gang…I’ve got a wifi connection in section 101!
Woody has been doing what Wells was supposed to do.
