Congrats to the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros for reaching the World Series! It is great to see some new blood in there (and no teams from Boston or New York). I have a slight preference for the ChiSox because they don’t have Roger “I Don’t Know What That Thing I Threw at Mike Piazza Was” Clemens on their roster, but honestly, I’ll be happy for either team and their fans. Both cities have waited a long time for this.
We’ll be running World Series IGDs here at Ducksnorts for those interested. However, for the best team coverage be sure to check out Vince Galloro’s Exile in Wrigleyville and Lisa Gray’s The Dugout. Both of these bloggers have a terrific passion for the game and do an outstanding job of covering their team. I am very happy for Vince and Lisa.
As a (mostly) neutral observer who loves to watch baseball, I’m looking forward to some great pitching. How about you? Any thoughts or predictions?
I’m excited to see a pitching/defense dominated world series myself. And, of course, I am always glad to see that the Yankees are not in it.
I’m going to go against the grain and pick the ‘Stros in 7. I say Bags comes up with a big hit at some point.
Astros in 7. Bagwell DH-ing in 4 AL games can’t be bad. Plus, the Sox DH hasn’t been that great.
However, pitching would be wonderful. I hope.
Do rested bullpen pitchers practice on day-offs?
Other than Neal Cotts and his two outs, the Sox bullpen has been sitting for a long time.
up to this point, statistics are going to be of no use. the truth is that the Stros will end up in victory (game 7) with jeff bagwell as their secret weapon. You havent seen anything yet until you see 15 years of built up preparation and raw fury unleashed as jeff finaly plays in the world series. probably one of his last seasons, baggs will go down in a blaze.. Heart will win this series
Jack: Thanks for stopping by. I also think it’ll go 7 games. The two teams are so evenly matched. This is going to be a fun series.
Well i beleive this will probably be 1 of the better series we have had letely since there are so many young guys with some great veteran coaches. This said i beleive the Astros in 7 as long as they can produce good hits and that great defense can hold the sox “meat part of the lineup”. Watch out for Roy O, Lamb, Burke and Berkman as it seems nationally they say the Astros have no power hitters so these guys i think will shine.
