Ah, Sunday morning baseball. Fire up some coffee, fry up some eggs, and kick back and relax.
Works for me. Go Padres!
or your could get up early, swim the Cove, bike 30, then have your Wife make coffee and eggs and watch the game. That way to don’t feel guilty. Thank god for the win last night. I they had not won, I might not have got out of bed this morning.
11th round pick Matt Latos is heading to a CC instead of a four year school. The Padres took a gamble on him and the only reason he fell so far was because of signability issues. He is the premier draft-and-follow player this year. He is a stud.
Wow. Don’t see Cameron get fooled in the outfield like that very often.
And they ruled it a double. What a joke.
I know it’s the 1st inning, but why not have Cameron drop a bunt w/ Roberts on 2nd? With his speed, who knows what happens. Probable worst case scenario: Roberts on 3rd w/ 1 out. Up a run —when runs have been at a premium (and they only got one in 7.1 last time out against Backe)— would be nice. Better yet, bat the lefty Giles 2nd. I guess we didn’t want to miss the chance on the big inning or our RLRL lineup. Blah.
It was ruled a hit because really knuckled at the end. It could have been an error, but Cameron had to watch the replay on the Jumbotron to see what happened. It would have fooled any outfielder.
Nice pics of Ryno, Geoff. And Woody singles! Maybe we will get a run.
Backe tries to get ahead and the Pads make him pay!
That’s ridiculous. Bard can’t do much more right there.
Blah (again). Well, at least we’re leading in the hit total! Maybe Bochy should just choose the lineup order from a hat.
Backe hangy, Barfield bangy. Attaboy, Josh!
Damn. Khalil’s been removed from the game after being hit in the left hand by a pitch. On the bright side, the first base umpire just cost the Astros a run.
The Astros fans are booing, but the more they showed it, the closer it looked. Maybe an incorrect call, but not a terrible one. At any rate, we’ll take it.
It was a pretty terrible call. Everett’s foot was on the bag while the ball was still in the air. Woody had a big smile on his face as he was walking off the mound. Still, as you say, we’ll take it.
Meantime, Bard smokes another one and again has nothing to show for it.
We should have about 6 or 7 runs off this guy.
Cameron says to Springer, “Don’t go there.”
Just what the doctor ordered!
Bard says to Springer, “Listen to Cameron.”
Bard hit the ball hard again — where gloves just don’t matter.
There’s something to show for it!
From the TV guys: Khalil has a “left hand contusion” — taken for precautionary X-rays.
Here’s a cool resource I just discovered:
http://www.mlb4u.com/freeagency.php?field=team
Find potential free agents by team or position. Includes roster status, service time, agent, age, and whether player and/or team has option. Pretty sweet.
Someone should tell Adrian Gonzalez that he looked better with the goatee.
He looked like Dante from “Clerks.”
Beautiful job by Woody on the 0-2 hit and run. Wow.
Isn’t it wonderful when everything finally goes your way?
Kevin, that’s who he looked like. That had been bothering me.
Finally got all the Elsinore pics from Saturday night up at Flickr:

Sweet win. Good end to a tough road trip.
I’m off for an 8-mile walk around Mission Bay (can’t keep with PM — damn, that’s impressive!) and some Thai food. The victory will make it taste that much better.
Now thats a spicy meatball!!! Lets bring it home boys a kick the shit out the gigantes….oops I mean kick the tar out of them. I’m off the ledge and looking for a great home stand. Will be at the game next sunday for my boys birthday gift. Want to see all of you out there.
national TV monday…
ESPN2 : 7PT/10ET Giants @ Padres
just watching the two other West teams Dodgers-Giants and it said it there.. good stuff a live game on ESPN with the Padres. unfortunately it’ll probably be with Jon Miller and Joe Morgan.
0-0 LA-SF in the 5th. But damn, Maddux: 40 pitches to get thru the 1st 5 innings! Damn!
Jake, glad things are working better for you lately, but hope you’re watching and taking a couple notes.
And Maddux & Betemit playing as well or better than they have all seaon NOW. Hate when the Dodgers fall into that kinda luck.
60 pitches thru 7, still no score.
Didn’t Ashby once throw like a 72 pitch CG? I assume he has the Padres record for that. What’s the major league record anyway?
Internet says… Red Barrett, Boston Braves, 58 pitches in 1944.
68 pitches thru 8!!!
Ashby’s game was 75 pitches vs the Rockies, July 5, 1998.
when is klesko coming back? they can’t keep him on the storm untill sept callups, can they?
