Iguchi out of the #2 spot and resting. Awesome. Go crazy tonight Edgar with a three hit night and keep “Gooch” there for awhile.
June 4, 2008 at 6:40 pm
Looks like Prior was a total bust.
June 4, 2008 at 6:58 pm
#2@Turbine Dude: It was a solid risk to take, though.
June 4, 2008 at 7:00 pm
#2@Turbine Dude: He was only $1m, I think that was certainly a worthwhile gamble.
June 4, 2008 at 7:06 pm
#3@Richard Wade: #4@Schlom: I’m not saying it was a bad idea. It was just a bust.
June 4, 2008 at 7:20 pm
#5@Turbine Dude: No doubt about that. Be interesting if he ever pitches another inning at the major league level — I have my doubts on that.
June 4, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Outstanding play by Huber.
June 4, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Nice hit Mr. Barrett.
June 4, 2008 at 7:30 pm
Hey Mikey, we like it!
June 4, 2008 at 7:32 pm
I don’t like sacraficing, with a runner on third and less than two outs.
June 4, 2008 at 7:40 pm
The Prof. comes through as usual.
June 4, 2008 at 7:43 pm
Well, we’ve had three innings of good pitching and several squandered rallies already. Looks like we’re right on schedule for the Cubs to break through in the 4th and watch the Pads wheels fall off.
June 4, 2008 at 7:46 pm
WAAAAAY OT:
Guess who’s playing for the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League:
http://www.riversharks.com/roster.cfm?rosterID=94
Brian Lawrence
June 4, 2008 at 7:47 pm
And Donaldo Mendez plays for the Long Island ducks
June 4, 2008 at 7:48 pm
#13@Nick G: That doesn’t suprise me. What does is that you actually cared enough to look him up and post it.
June 4, 2008 at 7:50 pm
Out of the corner of my eye, while watching the pre-game show, I saw that there was a roster move today but I missed what it was. Anyone know?
June 4, 2008 at 7:52 pm
#15@Turbine Dude: Just looking for a ballgame to go to. The Bridgeport Bluefish are the closest team to me. And I love seeing ex ML ballplayers.
You start mining the rosters around the league, and you see names like Calvin Pickering, Pete Rose Jr (!), Lawrence and Mendez.
June 4, 2008 at 7:54 pm
And just slightly off-topic.
I just love the pre-game ladies. Makes an old guys heart flutter. Jenny can wear those glasses too - she’s a cutie. And has anyone noticed that the necklines on Christy’s tops are plunging oh so nicely?
There now, I feel better !
June 4, 2008 at 7:54 pm
#17@Nick G: Gotcha. Understand.
June 4, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Does anyone else think, BTW, that Donaldo Mendez should win some type of award for being the epitome of the late 90s- early 2000s Padres?
June 4, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Chicago 4th right on time.
June 4, 2008 at 7:56 pm
#19@Turbine Dude: And I also am a little geeky like that.
June 4, 2008 at 7:56 pm
#12@Steve: You might want to consider a quick trip to Las Vegas.
June 4, 2008 at 7:59 pm
#22@Nick G: Well, you live in New Jersey. You have the Sopranos to be proud of.
June 4, 2008 at 8:04 pm
#24@Turbine Dude: Actually I don’t even have that, b/c I live in Connecticut.
So, I have submarines and Louis Lunch (”birthplace” of the hamburger).http://louislunch.com/
Nice rip by Kouz.
June 4, 2008 at 8:05 pm
#20@Nick G: Don’t forget about Santiago Perez !
June 4, 2008 at 8:11 pm
#26@JP: OK — completely forgot about him.
Man they were really, really bad back then
Lily’s looking pretty good this inning, unfortunately
June 4, 2008 at 8:11 pm
#25@Nick G: Nick, neat link.
June 4, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Peavy throwing well.

June 4, 2008 at 8:16 pm
.200 from a former Silver Slugger. Honestly, I’d rather see Carlin in there. At least his defense is a plus. .029 in average is not enough to warrant the free reign Barrett grants opposing runners.
June 4, 2008 at 8:18 pm
#28@Turbine Dude: Best burger I’ve ever had. It’s a tiny little dive in downtown New Haven. They give you a really hard time if you ask for Ketchup or mustard (condiments mean the meat is inferior, so they don’t have them there).
Anyway, guys, it’s been real, I’m retiring for the night — 11:15 eastern. Hopefully we can salvage one game of this series.
June 4, 2008 at 8:30 pm
Nice DP. Glad to see Soriano strike out.
June 4, 2008 at 8:30 pm
#16@LoyalSufferer: Was I imagining? No one has responded so it sure appears so .
June 4, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Thru the Cub 6 tied 1 to 1, I feel extra innings coming on.
June 4, 2008 at 8:31 pm
We need a point.
June 4, 2008 at 8:33 pm
Nice pop OG!!!!!!!
June 4, 2008 at 8:35 pm
What a crappy throw! The baseball Gods smiled on us with that one.
June 4, 2008 at 8:35 pm
We have had some CF in here who have caught that hit, thx Edmonds. What? Nice airmail, lets take advantage.
June 4, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Lilly looks like his wheels are wobbly and ready to fall off.
June 4, 2008 at 8:39 pm
My god, this team is terrible.
June 4, 2008 at 8:39 pm
OG was safe!!!
June 4, 2008 at 8:39 pm
He was safe.
June 4, 2008 at 8:41 pm
#41@Turbine Dude: I thought so in real time, but the replay indicates otherwise.
In other news, Edmonds is still a dork.
June 4, 2008 at 8:41 pm
Well, what a kick in the groin that inning was. Set the tally for wasted opportunities to three, now.
June 4, 2008 at 8:42 pm
That was Maddux’s chance for a win.
June 4, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Now Edmund’s can play defense.
June 4, 2008 at 8:43 pm
#43@Geoff Young: Every replay I saw showed his foot coming across the plate before hand. Doesn’t matter now. Can’t fix stupid.
Yes, Edmonds is a dork.
June 4, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Two balks called in this series. Wow.
June 4, 2008 at 8:53 pm
What the hell was Hairston swinging at? That pitch was way high and inside.
June 4, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Scotty pops up, on a pitch over his head. Can it get any wosrse?
June 4, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Ouch, another trip to the well and we’re empty. Edgar will be happy to see Lilly leave town.
June 4, 2008 at 8:57 pm
#46@Field39: Edmonds not Edmund’s.
June 4, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Our ability to squander scoring opportunities is astounding.
June 4, 2008 at 9:01 pm
#52@Richard Wade: A dog by any other name.
June 4, 2008 at 9:04 pm
OG deserves a Golden Glove for that effort.
June 4, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Great catch G, now lets get a hit.
June 4, 2008 at 9:05 pm
As much as I would love to endure this torture, 4:15 am comes awfully quick. Good night all. Go Padres!
June 4, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Too bad for Maddux, getting another no decision. Oddly he’s not the worst in the majors in run support, there are actually 9 pitchers below him:
http://tinyurl.com/4qz3b6
The bottom three are Byrd, Felix Hernandez and John Lannen.
June 4, 2008 at 9:08 pm
Runner on 3rd, where have we seen this before. Kouz needs to get in the air here or better yet another hit.
June 4, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Nice Kouz, Now lets hold em.
June 4, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Fontenot, Soriano and Theriot the first three batters. If Trevor couldn’t shut down the Giants crappy lineup, I’m not feeling too confident about his chances coming up here.
June 4, 2008 at 9:14 pm
#61@Schlom: I couldn’t agree more.
June 4, 2008 at 9:16 pm
1 down.
June 4, 2008 at 9:17 pm
K. Death.
June 4, 2008 at 9:18 pm
2 down.
June 4, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Soriano. K.
Taxes.
June 4, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Trev’s got the good stuff tonite! Nice recovery so far…
June 4, 2008 at 9:19 pm
#61@Schlom: The crappy Giants are in theory going to be more familiar with Hoffman which ought to help them.
June 4, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Lee wanted that one!
June 4, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Looks like we got Good Trevor tonight. That was beautiful.
June 4, 2008 at 9:22 pm
D. Lee
K.
Hoffman.
Struck out the side.
June 4, 2008 at 9:22 pm
#67@130tom330: Hoffman has above average major league stuff, yes.
Anyone that thinks this guy is “done” is wrong.
June 4, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Magnifico. Hoffy does it.
June 4, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Typical Padre win. 2-1 tight ball game now bring on the Mets.
June 4, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Good job, Trevor.
Keep it up.
June 4, 2008 at 9:24 pm
So he makes 3 of the 4 Cub batters look silly but gives up 3 runs to the horrible Giants. Strange.
June 4, 2008 at 9:24 pm
#61@Schlom: You know better than to use that sort of comparison when you know darn well that they are all tough at this level.
June 4, 2008 at 9:26 pm
#22@Nick G: You might say I won that battle but lost the war… and I couldn’t be happier.
June 4, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Made ‘em look pretty bad there. Good to see Trev recover from Sunday’s debacle. Having spent the last two nights at the park, it’s great to see those Cub fans drop one. There is no team that travels like the Cubbies, almost as bad as Red Sox nation’s invasion last year! i cant remember ever seeing so many Cub fans @ PetCo, guess they were especially obnoxious cause we’re struggling and they seem to be winning so easily. Bring on the Mets!!! Go Pads
June 4, 2008 at 9:27 pm
Err whoops, that should have been in response to #23
June 4, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Gonzalez still leads the NL in RBIs with 55.
