Glass half full attitude: Watching a bad team attempt to play baseball is still better than a good day at work.

#1@Turbine Dude: I’m with you. I’d rather watch crappy baseball than not have a team. It sucks having a crappy team..but I still love baseball and I’ll be watching the games in September even though we’re likely to be 30 games out by then.

I really think that Greg Maddux could roll out of bed with a runner on first and have a 50/50 shot of throwing a double play.

Pujols hit that ball right at Gonzo’s golve. It doesn’t just happen to the Padres.

    Nine-pitch first for Maddux.

RE 3:Okay, I didn’t see the double play. I wrongly assumed it was a ground ball double play. I stand by my statement though. Greg Maddux eats runners on first with 1 out for breakfast…

Oh well. It could always be worse. At least we’re alive and able to type.

Rick, we decided against Friday game. I’m in LA working till 3PM, then traffic, then traffic from OSide to SD. I will be ready to fall asleep by then. BUT….my wife made me promise we’d do a game soon so were shooting for another game during the homestand.

Well said. Sad but true. Like someone said ealier, I remember the “losing 2003 Padres” were at least fun to watch and fairly competitive. This is like last year where we knew we had little offensive chance BUT WAY WORSE.

A win is very nice. Apparently, da boys had a meeting before the game. Giles probably gave everyone what for.

    Back on the bandwagon!

I just got back from the game. It’s not the way I prefer to win them — a walk and a dong seems to be what it takes for this team to win, and look what it’s gotten us — but I have to say, the ballpark was ELECTRIC after Kouz went deep. Everyone was on their feet a good 60 seconds after the play was over because FINALLY someone had come up big when we needed it done. Before that point the crowd was turning downright mutinous (by Petco Park standards).

  81. Posted May 20, 2008 at 10:30 pm | Permalink

A guy with swagger like, say, Milton Bradley would be good for the clubhouse.
