April 25, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Again, I’m one of the first poster’s tonight.
April 25, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Thank you Scotty and Petco Park.
April 25, 2008 at 7:14 pm
I’m predicting that if we score first tonight, we win.
April 25, 2008 at 7:19 pm
Three fly-outs in succesion. This sucks already.
April 25, 2008 at 7:22 pm
#3@Turbine Dude: Are you predicting that run will come in the 20th, or the 30th inning.
April 25, 2008 at 7:23 pm
Crazy busy here tonight. Anyone else having Ch. 4/704 QC problems? Yesterday and tonight, it’s stop and go. I’m listening to radio feed on 960 instead.
April 25, 2008 at 7:26 pm
It looks like they have to go through the hit it hard and make outs stage.
April 25, 2008 at 7:27 pm
#5@Field39: I’m hoping before sun up tommorow.
#6@Stephen: No problems in the Bonita area.
April 25, 2008 at 7:27 pm
#7@Field39: Better than hit it soft and make outs. Not quite as good as hit it soft and get hits, though, but probably a better sign overall.
April 25, 2008 at 7:39 pm
OK, so we didn’t score first. I’m still gonna be the ‘glass half-full’ guy tonight. For awhile anyway.
April 25, 2008 at 7:39 pm
Is this the part where Dandy Don sings turn out the lights?
April 25, 2008 at 7:41 pm
Not a good start for Wolfe tonight. Well, it already looks like this game is in the tank.
April 25, 2008 at 7:45 pm
#6 Stephen; I can only wish I was having CH4 problems tonight.
April 25, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I sure don’t see a lot of fans in the park tonight. Friday night and the division leaders in town. wow
April 25, 2008 at 7:49 pm
#13@parlo: This is like seeing a bad car wreck.
April 25, 2008 at 7:50 pm
#14@Jefe: I was thinking the same thing 10 min. ago.
April 25, 2008 at 7:52 pm
To add insult to injury: We also have to endure Mark Grant’s horrendous commercials.
April 25, 2008 at 7:52 pm
#14@Jefe: There is a big Roshambo tournament at the convention center.
April 25, 2008 at 7:53 pm
Just got home…..haven’t even flipped on the tube yet. I wonder what I’ll find when I do? OK……here I go……turning it on……
April 25, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Ok….I’ve seen enough….turning it off for a few hours. CMON!!!!!! THIS SUCKS HARD.
April 25, 2008 at 7:55 pm
#19@Oside Jon: Jon, don’t let your son watch this obsenity!
April 25, 2008 at 7:58 pm
I can’t wait till my son asks what place the Padres are in and I tell him for the first time - LAST!!!! He’s young enough to only think of the Padres as a pretty good team.
Randy bleepin Johnson almost goes yard? Well not yard but…….
#21 Rick, are you still meeting on the bridge tonight?
April 25, 2008 at 7:59 pm
#22@Oside Jon: Thinking about it is 90% commitment.
April 25, 2008 at 8:01 pm
OT: Jon, did you hear about the Great White attack this morning up towards your area?
April 25, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Too bad grocery stores don’t use paper bags anymore… I need one for my head for tomorrow’s game.
April 25, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Finally a base hit.
April 25, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Turbine Dude #15; Where does the suffering end?
Two games against Houston, another two against the Giants. I have a hard time believing that it is due to the fact that we have faced tougher starting pitching, and play in a less friendly hitters park.
April 25, 2008 at 8:06 pm
I know there was some discussion earlier here about the bad luck the team has faced in regards to the opposition starters this year. I guess our bad luck really stems from the fact that we’re in the NL West, where all those great pitchers reside (save Oswalt).
Also, something else to consider - Peavy, CY, Mad Dog, Wolf (before tonight) and Germano (before the last start) — you can make the argument that opposing teams have the ‘bad luck’ in having to face our staff as well. Our rotation has been the victim of ‘bad luck’ in getting no run support from the bats.
I guess my point here is that we should be comparing offensive capacities in the division, not starting pitching - sadly, right now we don’t come close to either Colorado or Arizona.
April 25, 2008 at 8:07 pm
#25@Richard D.: Yes, plastic bags do have an inherent danger.
April 25, 2008 at 8:08 pm
#27@parlo: That’s it in a nutshell. However.com, traditionally this is the Padres worst month.
The true metal of this team is getting runners to home with bases loaded as are such right now. We haven’t been doing that.
April 25, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Why is Bardo swinging at all those high pitches out of the zone?
April 25, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Last night, CY should have went to the plate w/out a bat in his hands when bases were loaded.
April 25, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Of course he struck out with the bases loaded and less than two outs….. if this was a movie, it’d be criticized for being too predictable.
April 25, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Skunk is out of the box.
April 25, 2008 at 8:13 pm
#24@Turbine Dude:
Yes Rick. I almost went for a surf, but we’re in the middle of buying a foreclosure in Oside and went to water the grass (on the banks water bill) instead. Gonna surf in the morning. Odds are I’ll be alright. Very sad for that man and his family. In the ocean we are not in our backyard, but in the predators……
Hey we’re coming back!!!!!! Skunks out of the box.
April 25, 2008 at 8:13 pm
They just need to slap-shot them to death like Crabe just did. These fly-outs have got to end.
April 25, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Let’s think big here - how about Clark get himself a slam…
April 25, 2008 at 8:15 pm
or not.
April 25, 2008 at 8:17 pm
#35@Oside Jon: Yeah, it’s a freak thing to even see a Great White in these waters let alone have one attack somebody.
April 25, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Who is the Padre’s pitcher and what has he done with Ledezma?
April 25, 2008 at 8:25 pm
#39@Turbine Dude:
Yep. Ledezma……cleaning things up here hopefully. I want to say “let’s come back” but that would take runs.
April 25, 2008 at 8:25 pm
#40@Field39: Good question. That did not look like Ledezma pitching.
April 25, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Some good news on the SD baseball front:
USD won its 14th consec. today and is ranked 9th in the country.
SDSU’s sophomore sensation Stephen Strasburg pitched a 1-hitter and K’d 13 (after his 23 K performance last week) in a 4-1 victory.
April 25, 2008 at 8:29 pm
#30 Turbine Dude,
I have been hearing a lot lately that April is Trevors worst month too.
It turns out that since 2001, AUGUST is his worst month. Followed by September and and April.
He has had two bad Aprils, 2005 and 2007. In 2005, June was a worse month. In 2007, August was a worse month.
Oh the humanity!!!!!!
April 25, 2008 at 8:30 pm
The Hairston experiment needs to end.
April 25, 2008 at 8:34 pm
#45@Zagz: You might want to add Edmunds to that list.
April 25, 2008 at 8:35 pm
OT: That ‘Bases Loaded’ ticket value is not such a value if you consider the $20 in conscessions will only buy you 2 beers.
April 25, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Alright…..finally sitting down to watch the game as my pizza will be delivered soon.
April 25, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Boy, they even steal on our LHPs…
April 25, 2008 at 8:53 pm
I’m still only asking for five runs in one game at home. They don’t have to win…
April 25, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Speaking in strictly mathematical terms; what are the odds we score 4 or 5 runs by the ninth inning ? I am trying to keep emotion out of this.
April 25, 2008 at 9:01 pm
http://www3.signonsandiego.com.....ore-42408/
We have a 60% chance of scoring one run in the next three innings…
April 25, 2008 at 9:02 pm
#51@parlo: 500 to 1.
April 25, 2008 at 9:03 pm
#52@Sean Callahan: #53@Richard D.: That’s pretty grim.
April 25, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Really, Iguchi has a better chance of getting a hit than Thatcher?
April 25, 2008 at 9:07 pm
#54@Turbine Dude: Have you seen our lineup lately? That’s grim.
April 25, 2008 at 9:08 pm
#55@Sean Callahan: Oops, I meant Ledezma… My reading skills are about as good as the Padres’ offensive skills these days.
April 25, 2008 at 9:14 pm
Tonight will be the night the bullpen gives up no runs…
April 25, 2008 at 9:18 pm
I’ll repeat my thought from last night…
“This is embarassing.”
April 25, 2008 at 9:20 pm
#51@parlo:
odds are 20 to 1
April 25, 2008 at 9:21 pm
Game over………….see ya later everyone.
April 25, 2008 at 9:22 pm
I feel like Randy Quade in the movie ‘Major League.’
April 25, 2008 at 9:24 pm
Or Bill Murray in ‘Groundhog Day’…
April 25, 2008 at 9:25 pm
#62@Turbine Dude: It was Major League 2, but point well taken.
“You bunch of overpaid weenies!”
classic
April 25, 2008 at 9:27 pm
#63@Sean Callahan: #64@Richard D.: You get the gist.
April 25, 2008 at 9:29 pm
OG’s transformation is complete - from power hitting corner outfielder to lead-off centerfielder…
April 25, 2008 at 9:36 pm
#62@Turbine Dude: Back up the truck.
April 25, 2008 at 9:37 pm
#67@Field39: Where is Sariano when we need him?
April 25, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Glass half full: The bullpen came through….
April 25, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Still awake!!! We lost!!! Awesome!!! See you manana for more of the same!!!
Honestly, hopefully not.
April 25, 2008 at 9:46 pm

April 25, 2008 at 9:50 pm
#62@Turbine Dude: I’m thinking of a line from major leauge but its not that one… I’ll give you a hint it had sub titles…
April 25, 2008 at 9:57 pm
I’m also tired of Bud Black, and all the players, constantly saying “we’re just not getting it done” and “we need to play better”. You know that will be the quote in the paper tomorrow.
Can someone on the team please get PISSED OFF and say “damn it, we’re tired of this… we’re tired of being boo’ed in our own ballpark… we’re going to fix this because we’re tired of getting our butts kicked.”
Our team just looks so mopey… with such a “golly, gee whiz” attitude… “oh well, we lost”…
If there ever was a time I miss Milton Bradley and his borderline pyschopathic personality, it’s now!
AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!*&^%$($&!
April 25, 2008 at 9:58 pm
“Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come. ”
April 25, 2008 at 10:02 pm
I’m sick of hearing everyone say “you have to tip your cap to them.” When our hitters are struggling against the likes of Tim Lincecum but also Jonathan Sanchez, it’s clearly not a “tip your cap” situation. It’s clearly a case of LOFT, my new favorite acronym.
April 25, 2008 at 10:08 pm
#74@Field39: Its time for Khalil to say F-You Jobu I do it myself…
April 25, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Didn’t see the game but the score tells the story. Another run. at this rate me may get 162 runs this year. Sounds like the EPL.
April 25, 2008 at 10:15 pm
Should we now claim that it is unfair that we had to face 44 year old Randy Johnson twice this month.??? With no disrespect to the points made above,
Lets put aside the:
China trip
22 inning game
Cold marine air
NL West is the toughest division
April
Petco dimensions
Andurew Jones (not an excuse, but a diversion)
Funky winds at Petco
Payroll
This team has serious problems!!!!! Seeking denial is no longer an option!!!!
April 25, 2008 at 10:25 pm
We have no marbles
April 25, 2008 at 10:31 pm
Is the sample size large enough now?
