I’m still on the road, probably somewhere between Modesto and Lake Elsinore. Probably whining about the heat. And the smell. And whatever.
Are we there yet?
nobody here again?
opportunity lost..oh well
Hard to believe that we lost for Jake again.
’twas a good weekend … I drove down to NoCal … got to see a Stockton Ports game, they thrashed the Modesto Nuts, and hosted a gang fight in the concourse behind me, a unique experience
Listened to some of Felix Hernandez shutting out the A’s on the radio today … he IS the future.
And there was some talk on the Giants radio station of Bonds taking BP today … being available for PH duty soon …
2 good things from pdxbeavers.com … first, an interview with KT … http://www.pgepark.com/beavers/features.shtml (scroll down to the Sept 3 link) … and then good news about Stauffer’s final outing for the Beavers today …
Stauffer Scintillating in Season Finale
Tim Stauffer turned in his best outing of the season, a dazzling, complete game shutout, leading the Beavers to a 2-0 win over Tucson on Monday afternoon. Greg Sain paced the offense, going 3-3 with a home run and Jon Knott chipped in with his 25th long ball of the season.
Whatever problems that had been affecting Stauffer since his return to Portland were nowhere to be found against the Sidewinders. Since returning to the PCL on August 4, Stauffer sported a 10.73 ERA in 27 2/3 innings. Today, Beavers fans saw the early-season Tim Stauffer, who posted a 2.33 ERA in 38 2/3 innings, including a complete game shutout against Sacramento on May 5. The talented young righthander was completely dominant, allowing only 3 hits on the day, walking no one and getting nine strikeouts. Not a single Tucson (68-76) batter reached 2nd base and in each inning, Stauffer retired the first two hitters he faced.
The Portland (70-73) bats didn’t have to contribute too much with Stauffer (3-5) dealing. Greg Sain got the Beavers on the board in the second inning, blasting the first pitch he saw from Tucson’s Edgar Gonzalez (11-6) off the scoreboard in left-center.
In the sixth, Jon Knott hit his 25th homer of the year; lining a 1-2 curveball off the bricks in left to account for the game’s only other run.
