Sorry, I’m just…it’s starting to hit me like a um…um…two-ton heavy thing.

Good news: July comes to an end.
Bad news: May doesn’t return till next year.

Can’t you feel it coming?
Can’t you hear it calling?
Can’t someone here stop it?

I’ll be in LA visiting family and friends. Go Pads!

  1. Richard B. Wade Says:

Cesar Carrillo’s first start in Double-A apparently went well.

    6.7 IP, 27 TBF, 5 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 8 K, 0 HR

The 8/1 K/BB ratio and the .296 K/PA are very impressive.

Another Padres move: Blum to the White Sox for a minor league pitcher.

Um, ok. Explain why depleting your bench is a good move.

  3. The Fathers Says:

Blum hasn’t performed all that well since his one hot streak. The bench is fine with Jackson, Young, Sweeney/Nady, Fick and the second catcher (Ross or Olivo). It’s the starters who need to get their freakin’ hinds into gear.

They also weren’t going to keep Blum next year anyway.

It’s past the Deal deadline deadline. One positive: Giles still in San Diego.

different lineup today, nice to see Nady batting in the middle.

    Young, lf
    Loretta, 2b
    Nady, 1b
    Giles, rf
    Randa, 3b
    Fick, c
    Greene, ss
    Jackson, cf
    Williams, p

Good job by the Padres to get out of that first inning.

young and nady seem to be our only hitters. young is at it again.

blum trade was about opening a roster spot for olivo. nothing more

  8. Brian G. Says:

If Blum did nothing else, he shook the Padres out of the Sean Burroughs obsession by showing them (briefly) what an asset a good-hitting 3B can do for a team.

  9. hank Says:

    game over…

only chance we had was for woody to pitch a shutout. we know they cant score more than one run. arizona is winning big so the lead in the division is gone and we will be tied with dbacks after this game. tomorrow we will be in second place.

  10. Brian G. Says:

But Hank, we’ll be a game ahead in the loss column.

  11. hank Says:

we keep sinking like this, we will lead the division in losses…

damn, Jackson is trying to ruin everything..

whats wrong with him, slamming the ball like that with a runner on?

Rich Aurilia going upper deck is embarrassing.

  14. hank Says:

and the padres keep on whining about bringing the fences in…the park is too big to hit home runs in..

How many do the visiting Cardinals and Reds have on the home stand? seems like it must be 20 or so.

every other batter is jacking one out.

  15. Brian G. Says:

Seven HRs allowed in 21 innings is nothing to brag about either.

How many extra base hits does that make for the Reds in this series? Do they ever hit singles?

  16. hank Says:

seems like Randa is the only red that hasn’t homered.

    there it goes..grand salami

    reds pounding the Padres again..

The Padres are 18-34 since June 1, a .346 winning percentage — the worst record in the majors.

265 at-bats … and counting … for the Padres without a home run.

and we trade for a PITCHER at the dead line..

and not a good pitcher at that

  21. The Fathers Says:

Okay, hank, what big bat are you going to trade for?

Any CFs traded at the deadline, so you could get rid of Roberts? You going to replace Klesko? You going to replace Greene? How about Loretta? Any mashing catchers traded? I didn’t think so.

It is up to the players we have to start producing up to their capabilities. Towers can’t hit for them.

  22. Brian G. Says:

4 hits, no walks off Eric Milton in seven innings.

Milton lowers his ERA to a minuscule 6.65.

Only the second time this year he’s gone 7 innings in 22 starts.

Road batters had hit .303 with 15 HRs in previous 10 road starts.

  23. Jay Says:

This team is an incredible funk. Sweeney and Giles are the only guys hitting at all. And our pitching is atrocious. Lawrence and Williams are looking very mediocre; Stauffer looks like a rookie with some promise, but a rookie. The filler of Park/Astocio etc is make shift at best. We can start winning again if Eaton returns, B Law and Williams get respectable and we hit a little bit. Right now our pitching is worse than I think it actually is and our hitting is much worse than I think it is. You put those together, and this is what happens.

Hey just got back with the kids at the LJ YMCA, swimming while daddy practised triathelon fantasy.

Get it, people. We got a of things to do
in this city, a fine place to live, family freinds, dogs.

The Padres are a bad team and until they prove differnt, that is how I’m thinking of them. They have been bad many times before, so no sweat. Beach, padres

Its when they tease us that it hurts, like May, like a old lover returning to break you heart another time.

So chin folks, its great to be alive, and hope the pads find themselves someday.
