Congratulations to Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez on being named to the National League All-Star team. Now that you have been thus honored, I make a humble request: Don’t play in the game. If that is not possible, don’t engage in any risky behavior that could jeopardize your chances to help a team that surprisingly finds itself in the thick of a pennant race. Such behavior includes but is not limited to:
- Swinging a bat
- Throwing a ball
- Running
Steer clear of those, and you should be okay…
Great advice, Geoff! The thing is, it’ll be easy to follow it. He’s likely to be a pinch hitter, and all he has to do is keep the bat on his shoulder and take a walk – no running there either. Anybody who’s seen him run would bring in a pinch runner anyway.
Funny that the team with the best ERA, the most strikeouts, and the best bullpen in the majors has no pitchers on the team. I’ll bet that’s going to fire the Padres up for the second half.
if the Pads hold on & go to the playoffs (& G- I’m cheering for them) I hope they go with the ‘cammie’ uniforms… those things are awesome (& would likely get them more fans).
Congrats to Gonzo for being selected. Even given the need for an All-Star off each NL team, it’s hard to justify no Padres on the pitching staff, although I’m not upset about the staff getting 3 days off over the break to rest.
