So, now what? Before we get to that, I'd like to thank everyone for visiting, participating, and otherwise being a part of Ducksnorts again throughout the 2007 season. We laughed, we cried, we debated the great issues of our time. Or something like that. There are far too many folks to thank individually, so I'll keep the list short. Thanks to Peter Friberg, who did a great job covering prospects for us this year. Thanks also to my unbelievably accommodating wife for believing in this crazy dream of mine. Inspired by a question from reader LynchMob, I thought we'd try something a little different today. It occurs to me that not everyone has been to spring training, nor do they necessarily know why they should go. If you think it's just about driving to the desert to watch baseball games, then you're missing something important. Aside from the very cool aspect of hanging out with friends old and new (I've actually gotten reports of fellow Ducksnorters hooking up because someone was wearing a Ducksnorts T-shirt), you also can visit the minor-league facilities and interact with players in a way that simply isn't possible in any other environment. I'm back. There is an overwhelming amount of information for me to process, so we'll just go with bullet points of things learned or rediscovered along the way: The late Jeff Buckley was a musical genius. The parking situation at Phoenix Municipal Stadium stinks. How a parking lot cannot prepare itself to accommodate actual cars is beyond me. There are some pretty smart A's fans out there; we were fortunate enough to chat with some of them on Friday and even more fortunate to run into them again on Saturday. Oscar Robles can handle the bat. He did a nice job on a few hit-and-run plays, and generally made a nuisance of himself at the plate in a Dave ...
