Triple-APortland 7, Fresno 4

Chase HeadleyPeter Ciofrone (3B): 0-for-5, BB, E
Chase Headley: 2-for-5, 2B, HR
Brian Myrow: 2-for-5
Chip Ambres (RF): 0-for-3, 2 BB
Will Venable (CF): 1-for-4, SH
Nick Hundley: 2-for-5, 2B
Matt Antonelli: 2-for-4, HBP
Vince Sinisi (PH): 1-for-1, HR
Luis Rodriguez (PH): 0-for-1
Josh Geer: 5 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 0 HR, 1 BB, 3 SO
Enrique Gonzalez: 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 HR, 0 BB, 1 SO
Joe Thatcher: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 HR, 0 BB, 0 SO

The Beavers scored two in the ninth and three in the 10th to pull out the victory… Sinisi’s first homer of the year sent the game in to extra frames… Headley’s 13th came off former big-leaguer Jesse Foppert… Rodriguez finally returned from the disabled list. Not that Rodriguez is any great shakes, but he at least provides a viable shortstop option should the Padres ever find themselves needing one.

Double-ASan Antonio 5, Midland 0

Will InmanDrew Macias: 1-for-4
Chad Huffman: 0-for-3, BB
Kyle Blanks: 1-for-2, 2B, BB
Craig Cooper: 2-for-3, 2B
Seth Johnston: 0-for-3
Colt Morton: 1-for-2, 2B, BB
Will Inman: 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 HR, 4 BB, 8 SO (101 pitches, 60 strikes)

This game was “completed early” due to rain. Inman seems to be handling Double-A pretty well. His ERA is now at 2.84, and opponents are hitting just .209 against him. A K/9 rate of 9.37 isn’t too shabby either. The only blemish has been his inability to consistently work deep into games. Inman is averaging just under 5 1/3 innings per start, which may not be surprising if Friday night’s 20 pitch-per-inning performance is any indication.

High-AHigh Desert 5, Lake Elsinore 4

Cedric HunterCedric Hunter: 2-for-4, 2B, SF
Eric Sogard (DH): 0-for-5
Rayner Contreras: 1-for-4
Kellen Kulbacki (PH): 0-for-0, BB
Mitch Canham (PH): 0-for-1
Corey Kluber: 5.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 HR, 0 BB, 4 SO

Congrats to Hunter, Sogard, and outfielder Sam Carter for being named to the California League All-Star team. At age 20, Hunter is one of the younger players in his league. Sogard, who got off to a blistering start before cooling off, is playing in his first full professional season.

Low-AWest Michigan 5, Fort Wayne 0

Luis Durango (DH): 1-for-3, BB
Drew Cumberland (SS): 0-for-4
Lance Zawadzki (2B): 0-for-2, BB, CI
Justin Baum: 0-for-4
Felix Carrasco: 0-for-3, BB
Yefri Carvajal: 0-for-3
Matt Teague: 2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 HR, 1 BB, 2 SO

Durango led off the game with a single to right. That was the only hit the Wizards got all night.

Off-field: Mat Latos is back on the disabled list. Wonderful…

#1@LynchMob: Don’t forget, he was hit by a pitch as well. Looking for anything positive to submit about the next Bill Almon.
