Padres Farm Report (6 Apr 08)

Triple-A — Fresno @ Portland, postponed

According to the Portland Beavers Blog, the game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on August 13. Also, LHP Cesar Ramos is scheduled to make his Triple-A debut on Sunday. Meanwhile, RHP Dirk Hayhurst is pulling double duty working out of the bullpen and writing for the Beavers web site (h/t Rain Delay).

Double-ASan Antonio 8, Northwest Arkansas 2

Drew Macias: 1-for-3, 2B

Interesting that Lobaton and Colt Morton both were assigned to Double-A; when did catching become an organizational strength? Southpaw Steve Garrison (part of the haul for Scott Linebrink) starts for the Missions on Sunday.

Eric Sogard: 0-for-5, 2B, BB

Carrasco had played 68 of his 74 pro games at third base coming into the season, but he’s been used exclusively at first base so far in 2008.

How did Eric Sogard go 0-for-5 and still hit a double?

    #1: D’oh! E-blogger…

#2: Hunter should be okay. While Edmonds was rehabbing, Hunter started in LF and then shifted over to CF later in the game.

This minor league reports are great, thanks Geoff.

I am moving to Michigan this fall, so I am enjoying following who is plying at Forth Wayne.

    Thanks GY.

Has anyone watched Road to the Show on Channel 4? Its pretty cool, they pretty much followed Drew Macias and Ryan Klatt from day one (ie back in 04) in rookie ball (Idaho Falls) all the way up until the end of last season.

Jake Peavy needs to read Dirk’s initial thoughts before ever taking the mound without a cup on … Dirk paid the price for that mistake … and says he now wears a cup to bed … OUCH!

8 – I read that last night, and about spit Mt. Dew all over my monitor. Crossing fingers for no rain today, as I get to score my first Beavers game of the year.
