Happy Thanksgiving

I’m out this week, but here’s a little something you might enjoy. Treat this as an open thread — I’ve just provided a potential starting point; feel free to “hijack” as appropriate.

  • Travelsnort: McDowell Road (2004). Here we are, getting lost on a very long stretch of road in Phoenix. Probably would have been fun if we hadn’t been so frakkin’ hungry.
  • Balsley Promoted to Double-A Mobile (2001). Have I mentioned lately how grateful I am that Darren Balsley is still the Padres’ pitching coach?

That’s all for now. Happy Thanksgiving!

Tunes: They Might Be Giants, Elliott Smith.

  1. RE: Elliott Smith. Now we are buds, Geoff. Happy Thanksgiving.

  2. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I would be thankful for a Greene for Manny swap, though I agree with the significant “flake risk”. I have a feeling that Manny’s idea of getting a fresh start away from Boston doesn’t include SD. We’re not exactly the United Colors of Benetton, and he seemed to really enjoy himself the most while playing w/ Pedro.

  3. For what he’s making, I hope the Pads give Greene at least another year. Even though he slumped in April and May, he still had 9 HRs and 33 RBI hitting down in the order and practically carried the team. He also had a great July before getting hurt. He just turned 27, and with his work ethic, his best years are still ahead. If he can stay healthy — I know it’s a big “if” — and if Rettemund can help him learn to go the other way — we all know he already can turn on a pitch with Sheffield-like quickness — the guy can be a superstar.
