September 30, 1969, San Francisco: Giants 6, Padres 1 (box score) The Giants scored three in the first off Al Santorini. With runners at second and third, and two out, Bobby Bonds singled to left, driving home Tito Fuentes and Ron Hunt. Left fielder Jim Williams and Santorini both made errors on the play, allowing Bonds to scamper home as well. San Diego threatened to cut the lead the next inning. Van Kelly led off with a single and Ivan Murrell doubled him to third. Gaylord Perry came back to strike out the side, keeping the Padres off the board. In the fifth, with the score now 4-0, San ...

July 16, 1969, San Francisco: Giants 4, Padres 3 (box score) Dave Roberts couldn't find the strike zone for the Padres, Gaylord Perry survived some shaky defense, and Bobby Bonds dealt the big blow in this one. Perry had won the first matchup, due in part to an astounding 18-to-4 ground ball to fly ball ratio. This time, the Padres struck early. With two out in the first inning, Tony Gonzalez and Ollie Brown drew walks. Bill Davis followed with a single to center, giving the Padres an early lead. Perry then caught Cito ...

April 13, 1969, San Diego: Giants 5, Padres 1 (box score) San Francisco's Gaylord Perry toed the slab against Padres opening day winner, Dick Selma. Unfortunately for the home team, Selma never got into a groove. Willie McCovey led off the top of the second with a home run to right, and Hal Lanier singled home another run later in the inning. The Padres fought back for a run of their own in the bottom half. Bill Davis and Cito Gaston knocked back-to-back doubles, but despite loading the bases later that inning, the home team couldn't push across any more runs. The Giants added single tallies in the fourth, ...
