Thu, Oct 19, 2006by Geoff Young
In the “better late than never” category, I’m proud to present the Ducksnorts Unofficial Guide to Restaurants Near Petco Park. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the project; we’ll revisit this periodically to make sure it stays up to date. If I forget, remind me.
Great, now I’m hungry…
Picking up where last year's version left off, the Ducksnorts 2008 Baseball Annual provides in-depth analysis of and commentary on the San Diego Padres. Get your copy today.

I posted my first “Future Padre” profile and the reason I’m posting this comment, I found a quote linking us to Iwamura on Sickles site that I copied…

Baseball America has an interview (for subscribers) on their site and final question is about what kind of manager he wants to replace Macha (which is obviously relevant to us w/ all the “Bochy leaving” talk… Here is the last question:
SCHWARZ: Obviously, one member of the team who won’t be back is Ken Macha, whom you fired a few days after the season. What do you look for in a manager? What role does he play in your organization?
BEANE: Bobby Cox, the way he protects his players, he’s the lightning rod when he needs to be. He’s quick to smile, very comfortable, very genuine. In my impression, you want to play for him, you know he’s on your side. I would say the same things about a guy like Joe Torre.

http://www.mlbtraderumors.com has the Padres 2007 outlook up and it’s kinda cool. Only $36 Million commited for next season sounds like it could be KT’s dream of an offseason!

KRS1, He basically stole my playbook (not in a “he copied” me sense, meaning he and I came to the same conclusions):
“If I was Kevin Towers, I’d probably sign Zito, Iwamura, a backup infielder, and a mid-tier left fielder. If I had money left over and Piazza was the right price I’d bring him back.”

I’m just worried that Zito would bomb.
He’d like a long contract too on top of it.

Don’t forget about The Fleetwood! Right across the street from the ballpark, on 7th and J, we are a great place to hang before, during, or after the game!
