World Baseball Classic Photos: Cuba @ Dominican Republic

Sat, Mar 18, 2006Ballhype: hype it up!
by Geoff Young

Four things stood out to me in Saturday afternoon’s contest at Petco Park (won by Cuba, 3-1):

  1. It was really freakin’ cold out there.
  2. The Cuban team can throw some serious leather.
  3. I’ve had my fill of Julian Tavarez for the season, and it hasn’t even started yet.
  4. Pedro Lazlo is a stud, and I’m sorry I won’t get to see him pitch in the big leagues.

I’m glad Cuba won because now I’ll get to watch them again Monday night. Anyway, you can view the photos at Flickr. Feel free to comment here or there.

Off to the nightcap. More pix later.

Nice pix, Geoff. You should buy a decent jacket, tho’. I was warm as toast. ;-)

Dude, I was wearing three layers including a heavy jacket. I even had the hood on. Man, it was cold.

Geoff, thanks again for the game.
That was awesome. Those Cuban players are fun to watch.

It was so cold, the garlic were sticking to the fries by the time we got to the seats.
Yup, it was colder than Minnesota at the game but not as cold as meeting one’s girlfriend’s mother who hates your guts.

Julian Tavarez is going to increase the length of games in the AL just by himself.
