Ducksnorts Fantasy Baseball

Just a quick heads-up: I’ve started a free Yahoo! league if anyone is interested.

Go to the Fantasy Baseball web site
Choose Sign Up > Join Existing Custom or Public League > Join a Custom League
League ID: 26164
Password: ducky!

It’s configured for 12 teams using players from the NL only. If the league fills up and you can’t get in, let me know and we’ll start a second league.

[Update 5 Feb 06, 8:34 a.m.: The league has filled, so I've started a second one. If you didn't get into the first league, feel free to sign up. League ID: 37127. Password: ducky!]

[Update 6 Feb 06, 10:09 p.m.: Both leagues are now full. Thanks to all for signing up! If you didn't get in and would like to play, tough. Naw, just kidding; leave a note in the comments and if there's enough interest, we'll start a third.]

Looks like an interesting read for the sabremetrically inclined.

Toreros have taken the series from #1 ranked Texas, go for the sweep on Sunday. I was at today’s 6-0 win:

    A beautiful thing…

I’m in the league. I’ll be looking forward to some baseball after the SuperBowl is over!

No worries, Mark. We’ve got a second league open now and there are only four folks in it so far. Plenty of room!

Pat – thanks for the pointer … I’ve had this book recommeded to me twice already this morning now … Dolphin runs good sim games, I hear …

I’m in. Never played f-bb before. When do the fantasies begin?

Yes, thank for the heads-up on the book, Pat. Those are some pretty big names there.

On another note, I may have to go off-topic tomorrow (would have done it today but had to take the car in). Toreros swept defending national champ Texas this weekend at Cunningham Stadium:

I’m still in shock, albeit a good kind of shock.

Now that the Steelers won the SB, I am all ready for baseball.

I’ve had a good sports year, all my teams have made playoffs (or gone to a bowl game). Lets hope the Pads can continue this trend in ‘06.

Sweet wins for the Toreros. Bet they are in the top 15 now.
That’s so sweet that you get to see a shutout of the Defending Champ.

I got into the league #2. Wow, pretty full already.
Can I have Mirabelli for my catcher, please?

Catcher Todd Greene signed with Los Gigantes. One fewer backup backstop on the roster.

Torreros sweep! Absolutely amazing. We definitely need to get a group out there next month for the SDSU games. How’s about playing hooky (sp?) for the Friday game or the 6 pm game on Saturday?

Ya but my Hawaii Warriors took 3 of 4 from SDSU and Tony this week. Watched all the games and we are talking very very sloppy play(both teams) I was really surprised. But it is early in the season yet.

    aloha, hank

There’s an article in the NY Times about Piazza today. Here’s the link, but you can only access it with a subscription.

Nothing earth-shattering in the article — it was based on the introductory press conference.

Here’s one measure (from BP) that shows KT’s ability to put together a bullpen. Hope he can do something similar this year:

    STAT OF THE DAY

Top 5 2005 NL Relief Corps, by Expected Wins Added over Replacement Level (WXRL)

    Team, VORP, WXRL

    San Diego Padres, 82.2, 12.82
    Washington Nationals, 77.2, 12.77
    Houston Astros, 70.3, 10.38
    St. Louis Cardinals, 85.0, 9.75
    Arizona Diamondbacks, -17.5, 8.36

Nothing about the Padres, but a fun look at some pitchers that this SI guy thinks will have “break out” seasons … http://tinyurl.com/7w4fd … for all you fantasy-newbie’s, but sure to overrate these guys in your draft prep :-)

$20 per team if you get in early. Anyone interested in trying to put a league together?

    Some insightful posts all around.

Phentermine, I disagree with your analysis of the current pitching situation. In fact, I think your prediction of VaniqaVaniqa 7ulb6auy-100766530 for Shawn Estes in light of career numbers.

Music Posters, your comment MinogueKylie Minogue is a little late for the closer’s music thread.

And casino online, what are you think with your asinine idea about a potential deal for online pokeronline poker pavjzxz9-100782724. Don’t we already have Chan Ho Park?
