Posting will be light this week. Nothing much is happening with the Padres right now (aside from the signings of Allan Dykstra and James Darnell, I suppose), and a few other projects are demanding my time:
I’m working on a quick survey of compensatory draft picks through history — We’ve already touched on Rafael Palmeiro being [...]

Okay, here’s the deal. I’m driving up to Oregon this week to visit family and catch a couple of minor-league games. I don’t know what my availability will be like while I’m off yonder, so posting will be real light this week. I will try to pop in every now and then with reports, pix, [...]
No game on Thursday. Hey, the Padres can’t lose.
Meanwhile, I’ve been working on a few other things:
John at MadFriars asked me a few questions about the Ducksnorts 2008 Baseball Annual.
I’ll also be pimping the Annual on Bases Loaded with Elliott Price. Elliott is the former long-time play-by-play voice of the Montreal Expos. This [...]
With Opening Day just around the corner, it’s probably time to point folks to the Ducksnorts Comments Policy. Discussion is encouraged around these parts, so if you’d like to participate, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our policy.

So, now what? Before we get to that, I’d like to thank everyone for visiting, participating, and otherwise being a part of Ducksnorts again throughout the 2007 season. We laughed, we cried, we debated the great issues of our time.
Or something like that.

Yep, we’ve been here 10 years. That’s, like, 70 in Internet years. I was going to create a snazzy badge to commemorate the event, but what follows will be plenty self-indulgent on its own. Come, follow me…
Old Incarnations
I can’t find any versions earlier than 2000 (I probably have a few on a floppy somewhere, but [...]
If you can read this, it means we’re back up and running. I had something planned for this morning, back before my database became corrupt, but it will have to wait. I’ve been troubleshooting stuff for, like, four hours and I need to eat.
The gist of what I was going to say earlier is this: [...]
Cleaning Up the Comments
Ever since I added the commenting feature to Ducksnorts several years ago, I’ve enjoyed hearing what other folks have to say. I’ve learned a lot from debating topics of mutual interest in a constructive and respectful manner.
Lately, though, we’ve lost our focus thanks in large part to my laxity in enforcing the Ducksnorts Comments Policy. [...]
