Chat, Anyone?

The guys at Friar Forecast recently conducted a live chat and it looked like fun. Since I’m a big fan of stealing from the best, I thought we might try something similar here at Ducksnorts this year… assuming there is interest.
So. Is there interest?

Is This Thing On?

I’m still kicking the tires, but Ducksnorts appears to be back in business. With luck, I’ll have something interesting to say next year. Happy, happy…

Site Non-update

Last month my web hosting company apparently went out of business without telling anyone. Repeated attempts to contact them have been unsuccessful, but if you’re interested in the sordid details, a fellow refugee has documented the situation.
Apart from the drama, this is where we stand:

I managed to back up my database a few hours before [...]

Broken

Hi there,
Ducksnorts is broken. I’m working to fix it, but there is no timetable. With luck, we’ll be back up and running by the end of the year.
In the meantime, you can read my stuff at The Hardball Times and Baseball Prospectus.
Thanks,
Geoff

Geoff’s Publishing Schedule for 2009

Thing is, writing the 2009 Annual took a lot out of me. So does writing software documentation 40 hours a week.
Life is good; I’ve got no complaints or regrets. That said, you deserve to know why I’m scaling back production this year. Here’s the plan for 2009:

Monday: Ducksnorts
Tuesday: Baseball Daily Digest
Thursday Wednesday: Hardball Times

Also, you [...]

Happy Holidays; See You in ‘09!

Work, book, and family demands are kicking into high gear, so I’m ducking out early this year. Happy, merry, whatever you celebrate. Be safe, be well, and enjoy. I will see you back here sometime the week of January 5.

Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

Forgive the lack of updates this past week. I rolled out of bed on Monday, blinked, and it was Saturday. Time is not your friend.
We’re off to Hawai’i for the annual Thanksgiving shindig at my wife’s family’s farm. I’m prepping some articles (mostly annotated reruns) to run in my absence; although discussion is always welcome, [...]

We’ll See You When We See You

The season is over. Thank goodness for that.
The Padres played brutal baseball for most of 2008, and fans were in a pretty sour mood all year. Unfortunately I let the negativity get to me more than I should have.
I suppose it’s safe to admit this now, because I no longer feel it’s likely to happen, [...]

Comments Returning… Sort Of

Part of a host’s responsibility is to lay out and enforce ground rules that enable all guests to enjoy themselves. I’m afraid that as Ducksnorts has grown, I’ve neglected this duty and allowed us to stray too far from our mission, which is to discuss baseball in an intelligent and thoughtful manner. For that, I [...]

Comments Disabled

Effective immediately, and for the foreseeable future, comments have been disabled. I’ve asked folks to follow the rules, but it’s just not happening and I don’t have the time or energy to continue policing the situation.
Thanks for your support and understanding. Go Padres!
