Dude rocks. He speaks of the part of Christianity that I deeply respect.

Man I want him to make it.

Dirk's an impressive guy, both on the field (periphs be damned, anybody who plays pro ball is in the upper 2% of athletic ability) and in his head. It's hard to find that combination of insight, sincerity, and forthrightness. Plus, the man can write, which by itself elevates him from the herd. :) Well done.

I can say this is the one time when I'm happy to get Mets games on TV. I'm not Mets fan, but I've been watching the past week or so and it's absolutely fascinating - the Mets, their struggles, and now the absolutely electric crowd at Shea this weekend. They're certainly giving Shea a send-off to remember.

Congratulations to Greg Maddux on his 355th career win and moving past Clemens on the all time win column.

Wow, 47 pitches in 6 IP. That's unreal.

This is awesome, Geoff. Thanks, Dirk. I was rooting for Dirk to succeed before, now, I think he'll be a heck of a person to hang with. Just don't get pranked by him.

And this link, freed from one of the many Hayhurst's blogs, is darned funny.

Good luck to Dirk. Let's hope we'll see him next season.

Dirk For President! ;-)

Thanks, GY ... your interview has revealed a beautiful spirit ... eh, actually, Dirk's own writing reveals that pretty well ...

I look forward to more ... from both of you!

Dirk is one hell of a guy. He was the Beavers Community Player of the Year for 2008. He also coached my kid in the last Beavers Baseball camp of the season - he and Josh Geer had quite the impact on my son this summer and he still talks about them.

Once again Geoff you went out and got a top notch interview. :)
