Any info in papers or on radio today about the health status of OG or KK? Clearly “healthy enough” … just checking to see if we should expect to see anything “lingering”?

#3@LynchMob: You want to see something wierd? Check out the “recap” of that Wizards game … the Wizards ended each of the first three innings by having a runner doubled up at first base! So they were smacking the ball … just hitting & running into some bad luck …

  6. Posted June 24, 2008 at 6:34 pm | Permalink

#2@LynchMob: Or maybe the Al Angelucci era started today? The converted outfielder, signed in the off-season out of Australia, threw 3 hitless innings in his pro debut. He’s only 19 and throws a live 89-91 mph fastball. Or maybe the Robert Lara era? The 19th round pick, a catcher out of Central Florida, is 4-for-6 with a homer in his first two games.

Of course, we won’t see these guys for years, if at all, but it’s still fun to follow their minor league careers.

#1@LynchMob: I do like this lineup. As I mentioned earlier today, I like Khalil Greene in the #7 hole. Ideally, Headley will prove to be a stud that can hit in the #5 hole, which would push Kouz to the #6 spot. I did a story on my site recently stating that this current lineup, minus Barrett, could be the starting lineup on opening day ‘09 and I wouldn’t mind at all.

Out of this entire lineup, only Barrett is struggling. I like our chances this week against Minnesota and Seattle.

im thinking barrett should heat it up if he thinks hes going to keep his job. i know our C’s in the farm arent ready and im tired of watching Colt shuttle back and forth but you have to figure that carlin will be the backup it mike keeps hitting around the .170 mark.

    right?

id like to hope they wouldnt keep him on just for the sake of saving a little face.

btw i like barrett as a person but having a tough time justifying why i like him as a ball player… and i really did like the guy.

#11@Field39: Yep. The key this year should be knocking some rust off and keeping him healthy, same as CY. The odds of winning are just too long to risk either of them.

I’m curious. Does anyone have any #’s, or have posted them here recently, of successful steals off our staff for this year and last? I know Young is probably pretty high but that is something that I have never looked up for confirmation.

Never any harm! I don’t care where we stand, I always want to keep a keen eye on the competition to appease my own hopes and aspirations for our boys.

  20. Posted June 24, 2008 at 7:51 pm | Permalink

#15@Jeremy: I’m pretty sure that the Padres allow the most stolen bases, and they are last in steals.

#15@Jeremy: I dont have the numbers in front of me but as of about a week ago, the Padres had allowed over 100 steals. The second worst team was about 25 less.
CY, Maddux, and Merideth had high steal rates this year.

Hate to beat a dead horse here, but did anyone NOT see that coming. Trev is not so hot in non-save situations, usual results. I think he needs Hell’s Bell’s to get the adrenaline going.

    Two things about tonight:

    1) Every single major leaguer should be able to bunt. It is absolutely the simplest thing you can do with a bat. We don’t deserve to win a game where consecutive major league hitters are unable to execute a sacrifice bunt. I ranted about in in my seat at the game, on my blog and now her. It annoys me to no end.

    2) I’m sick of Barrett. Carlin is hitting just about as well and is a large defensive upgrade. I say start Luke.
