Triple-APortland 12, New Orleans 11

Craig Stansberry (SS): 2-for-5, 3B
Jody Gerut: 1-for-4, 2B, SF
Chase Headley: 1-for-5, HR
Brian Myrow: 2-for-4, 2 HR, BB
Chip Ambres (CF): 2-for-5, HR
Will Venable (DH): 1-for-5
Edgar Gonzalez (3B): 1-for-4, BB
Matt Antonelli: 1-for-3, HR
Enrique Gonzalez: 6 IP, 10 H, 6 R, 1 HR, 3 BB, 0 SO
Adam Bass: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 HR, 0 BB, 2 SO
Jared Wells: 0.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 HR, 0 BB, 0 SO

The Beavers held a 4-3 lead headed to the seventh, when both offenses went nuts. After falling behind, Portland scored six in the top of the ninth to take a 12-7 lead, then hung on for dear life as Omaha answered with four of its own… Antonelli dropped from his customary leadoff spot to the #9 hole. He responded with one of Portland’s six home runs on the evening.

More coverage at the Portland Oregonian.

Double-ACorpus Christi 6, San Antonio 5

Chad Huffman: 3-for-4, HR
Kyle Blanks: 2-for-4
Craig Cooper: 0-for-4
Drew Macias: 0-for-1 (didn’t start)
Neil Jamison: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 HR, 0 BB, 1 SO

High-ASan Jose 8, Lake Elsinore 0

Cedric Hunter: 1-for-4
Rayner Contreras: 0-for-4
Eric Sogard: 1-for-4, 3 E
Mitch Canham: 0-for-4
Kellen Kulbacki: 2-for-3, BB
Javis Diaz (DH): 0-for-3, BB
Corey Kluber: 3 IP, 7 H, 7 R, 1 HR, 2 BB, 6 SO
Ernesto Frieri: 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 HR, 1 BB, 2 SO

Three errors for Sogard? Ouch. One in the third, one in the fourth, one in the seventh… I’m getting a little tired of seeing our polished college pitchers get smoked. If these guys can’t advance quickly, then what’s the point of drafting them? I dunno, Kluber looked pretty good the one time I saw him. I’m just in a lousy mood. Losing sucks.

Low-ABurlington 5, Fort Wayne 4

Bradley Chalk: 1-for-5
Andrew Cumberland (SS): 1-for-4, 2B
Justin Baum: 0-for-3, BB, E
Shane Buschini: 2-for-4
Yefri Carvajal (DH): 1-for-3, BB
Jeremy Hefner: 3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 HR, 1 BB, 1 SO

Can we start IGD’s for the farm games? Maybe it won’t be quite as depressing (it doesn’t matter if they’re any good - only that individuals do well)…

I thought Towers was on the radio saying they weren’t interested in Jones? There’s not much point, I’d rather see what Gerut could do.

The Rocky Mountain News says that we’ve talked to Colorado about a deal for a CF.

#5@Tom Waits: Hmm I dont remember him saying anything about jones when he was on Ello yesterday, and to be honest I could see the Padres putting Guret in CF and Jones in LF and then start looking to trade Giles.

Bleh I never trust trade rumors that are in the division especialy

#6@Steve C: oops sorry hit enter and some how my post got submitted a bt early.

  8. Steve C Says:

#5@Tom Waits: Although a trade with the Rockies would make since they have 3 CF’s on the big league club (Taveras , Spilborghs, & Podsednik) as well as a somewhat decent CF in AAA (Christopher Frey).

  9. John Conniff Says:

KT said today in the NC Times that the team had no interest in Jones
