Ah, another review of 2004 draft.

Interesting how much of a crapshoot it was. Bad pick notwithstanding, the Padres aren't that much worse than any of those team.
Still, surprised to see Drew and Weaver not in Top 10. Looks like the money issue as well with the others.

So, here's hoping Batt Mush will come back and be the closer of the future. What? I've been smoking some good joints lately, and I don't remember.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Agree with Bruce. Their minor league numbers favor Germano, actually. A pitcher who is short on stuff and can't strike out 6 minor leaguers per 9, even though he was trained at a big-time college program, isn't likely to have much success. As I said in another post, he might run off a few good starts, like Germano did last year (and his first couple outings in 2008). But Geer is the sort of player who should be cashed in, unless the Padres believe he's an extremely unusual pitcher.

Estes has been crap for 7 years. Why would anyone get excited about his return?
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

9: Geer relies on command and guile. His stuff is nothing special. Sounds a lot like Germano to me.

And to answer your question, yes I was never a big fan of Fernando's presence on the team and cringed every time he took the mound, which is exactly what I will do when Estes is slotted into the 5th spot in the rotation.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

#7@Geoff Young: Yeah no kidding, the only true Shortstop on the Beavers roster is on the Disabled List. Of course loosing Robles to the Phil's on waivers didn't do anyone any favors. I've watched Marshal McDougal play short, and it's not a pretty sight for sure.

Just a side note, I'll be at tomorrow nights game. And for those in the PNW, the Beavers afternoon game - today is going to be on Fox Sports Northwest at 2p.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Slow start for LeBlanc ? That's an understatement.

Geer same as Germano ? How do you know. Can't we see.

Estes makes you want to puke ? Did Valenzuela's opening day spot of the 1996 roster make you want to puke as well ?
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

Geoff we better get ready soon. With this talk about Germano's status, I fear that our new #5 pitcher will be Estes within a week. Who else is available? LeBlanc? Off to a slow start. Geer? Same pitcher as Germano more or less. Ramos? Almost as cringe worthy as Estes, but I don't see the team promoting him over Estes given their respective seasons so far. And Hensley of course has been pitching exclusively in relief.

The news on Prior has gotten very quiet. It doesn't look good for any sort of meaningful return before July now.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)

#2@Russ: I'm saving my vomit for when he returns to the big club.

#5@malcolm: Hunter was in a mini-slump, probably just got the evening off. He's 20 years old; I wouldn't expect a move anytime soon.

I didnt see Cedric Hunter at LE last night, but didnt think to ask why? With Kulbacki moving up, maybe Hunter's moving also.
Current score: 0 (to vote for this comment, please visit the site)
